Surf Monkey. Partial first flush from an AIO

Im on a mission to see all the beautiful mushies I can.

Surf Monkey, Ripple Rilla's tan sister ( APEtar x TW ). These are so pretty in person. The phone doesnt properly convey the blue around the margins. The bag was maturing unevenly so I had to take these guys out. I kind of regret using an off the shelf AIO. Well these are looking gorgeous anyway.

Surf Monkey [The Fungus Frequency] partial first flush AIO bag.

Surf Monkey, Ripple Rilla's tanned sister { APEtar x Tidalwave }. They look so pretty in person. The blue around the margins is so nice. The bag was maturing unevenly so I had to do a partial harvest. I think I may do another run with these but not in an off the shelf AIO. I love this hobby.

Thank you to the Fungus Frequency and SporeSwaps.

Progress from my first non-cube attempt [ Subtropicalis - HVC x TS ].

This is my first non-cube attempt. This Ps. Subtropicalis HVC x TS is resilient AF. I put too deep of a casing layer. Then after ~30days of nothing I scraped most of the casing away, damaging many pins in the process. Within ~10 days its now looking great. I will have to give this another go without the mistakes and abuse. Im sure it will give a nice canopy.

Patience pays off

I almost tossed this tub of P subtropicalis HVC x TS C1.2. I think I had too deep of a casing layer. I cleared most off it and instantly got pins. I was 1 day from tossing the tub because I didnt see any changes for over a month.

From a neighbor's yard. NE Illinois.

This is the only yard that I regularly see any fungi or mushrooms. Each section has a different type of mushroom. My area is usually too dry but they love this yard.

The tiniest toad I've ever found.

Found this little friend while checking storm damage in my yard. They're about the size of my pinky nail.

Thought they were cute and wanted to share.

a few visitors after the rain. USA, NE Illinois

I was doing some yard work and noticed these little guys. The yard has decaying /dead wood bits mixed into the soil. I dont have any ID experience.

Look who's here.

Walked out into my cake dumping spot and saw these little guys. I never thought these little guys would pop out. Its usually too dry but we have had a couple weeks of rain.

Some small wood lovers.

3 different logs that were perfectly placed in near constant shade.

A few shots from the State Park.

Taken while visiting NE Illinois around Memorial Day weekend. I need to get a camera. My phone just doesnt take good close up or macro type shots.

TWAPE bag [2nd flush]

I made this bag and a tub with the same spawn and bulk. The bag had some chonkers. I had some casing mix left over so I added a layer after the first flush. The tub was nice but nothing even close to this large. I think Im going to do this bag/tub split with the next few cultivars.

Spawn: home made drippy corn w/used coffee grounds

Bulk: CVG+ 0.5lb manure and 2 cups of worm castings (~11 lbs made )

Dump of a few Ripple Rilla flushes.

I havent had time to grow anything for a bit so Im getting nostalgic.

An assortment from 3 flushes of Ripple Rilla [ Tidalwave x APEtar ]. This is one of my favorites. They are beautiful, my phone doesnt do them justice. They also get thicc. There were several over 60g and one or two well over 100g.

This was spawned on ~4lbs of my drippy corn. Then fruited on CVG +1lb of composted horse manure.

I love the gnarly dense stipes, blue tinge and massive fruits. All around fun time.

This just stuck out from the drab leaf litter at the bog.

I thought it looked nice and wanted to share.

APE and Tidalwave capsules look different.

I was kind of surprised how different they look. The APE's are so blue/purple and the Tidalwave's are plain brown. Just thought they were cool looking.

Photo dump of Hillbilly

These are a handful of a 2 tub Hillbilly run I did a while ago. One tub was manure-straw-verm and the other was CVG + 1lb manure.

I plan on doing this again and comparing the 2 tubs. Is there a specific metric or attribute I should be tracking (besides overall weight, speed, height and density differences)? Let me know.

Pictures from 3 flushes of what was labeled as PE-Uncut but looks more like a Melmak. Im not complaining just confused.

This was spawned on my own drippy corn with used coffee grounds ( ~4lbs ). The Bulk was CVG +2cups composted horse manure, ~1.5cups worm castings and a little used coffee grounds and some hydrated lime for PH balance.

I have experience growing medicinal mushrooms and would like to add some culinary mushies to the rotation. The issue is I do not eat culinary mushrooms. I have family that will eat the mushrooms I grow but they dont know what types to grow. They basically just order mushrooms on/with food and dont know the types.

I was thinking of starting with Blue oysters and/or Pink Oyster. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
