I’m a young lawyer from Karachi who has worked in both litigation and corporate law. AMA
I started working in the legal field while I was still in law school. Over the years, I’ve had the chance to work on very different kinds of matters, from family and civil litigation to corporate and regulatory work.
On the litigation side, I’ve dealt with matters involving things like family disputes, khula, child custody, maintenance, inheritance, civil matters, notices and court proceedings.
Later, I moved more towards corporate and business law, where my work has included companies, SECP matters, corporate compliance, contracts, share transfers, tax and regulatory issues, NGOs/NPOs and business structuring.
I’ve worked with law firms and corporate advisory teams, and now I work independently.
I thought I’d do an AMA because when I was starting out, there were a lot of things I wanted to ask experienced lawyers but didn't really know who to ask.
So if you have questions about:
- Family cases like khula, custody, maintenance or inheritance
- Civil litigation and what actually happens after you receive a legal notice
- Starting a case and dealing with courts in Pakistan
- Corporate law, SECP, company registration or compliance
- Contracts, shares, directors or business disputes
- Starting your own legal practice
- The difference between litigation and corporate law
- What corporate lawyers actually do day to day
- How fresh law graduates can start their career
- Bar enrollment and the practical process of becoming an Advocate
- Finding a chamber, internship or first legal job
- Whether to pursue litigation, corporate law, tax or another area
- Or just what it's actually like trying to build a legal career in Pakistan
Feel free to ask.
I’ll answer based on my experience, including the things that don't usually get discussed in law school.
And if you have a general legal issue, you can describe the situation, and I can explain the general legal/practical position and what options you might want to explore.
