Hello, My name is Kim Min-ah and I woke up as the Female Lead in a 12 episode romcom kdrama against my will. Here's a snapshot of what happened🤪

Episode 1

I started arguing with my brother over absolutely nothing. My parents, who run a struggling fried chicken shop reminded me that we are nearly bankrupt and yelled at me for being late😑. Anyways I rushed out the door wearing a perfectly coordinated outfit, carrying the newest Samsung phone and had salon-quality hair that can survive anything. This drama keeps insisting I'm poor but my wardrobe begs to disagree🙅‍♀️ (poor correlation producer🦆)

Episode 2

I was almost late to work which is my defining personality trait. While speed walking with coffee I collided into a handsome CEO. The coffee splashed onto his expensive coat (sike😑) but then we just stared at each other👀. A normal person would be annoyed, instead this man became fascinated by me because I'm unlike all the other women he has met as I had the guts to assault him with caffeine🥴 (This man is downright crazy). Anyways I did not apologise!!!😑

Episode 3

I discovered that my boss's main hobby is showing up unexpectedly. Elevator. Parking lot. Crosswalk..I kept bumping into this man😑. Like sir go to your job. You own a billion dollar company but you spend most of your time appearing around me like a sleep paralysis demon🥴...be healed👏.

Episode 4

The second male lead appeared. He had secretly loved me for 10 years. Unfortunately, he forgot to mention it at any point during those 10 years. Instead he chose the traditional method of standing 20 feet away and looking slightly sad while the background music played 😂😂. He is a big joker cause I ain't a mind reader but i still played along as the script required..duhhh👀.

Episode 5

I actually got drunk after 4 sips of soju at the staff meeting to welcome the CEO and suddenly I was an embarrassment (I promise this was against my will but...). The CEO actually gave me a piggy back ride home when everyone left🧐. I could have called a taxi. He could have also called a taxi...but I guess it just happened. Alright 😂

Episode 6

I could feel that the CEO was now looking at me so nicely😏, I guess that piggy back ride brought out a cuter side of me. After work one day, the CEO's mother invited me to a luxury hotel. She was elegant and intimidating and slid a cheque to me and asked me to leave her son😑. I looked at the amount..."Damn is that all a male lead is worth". I declined the money because director wanted me to be noble...I think that was a financial mistake though😔...I mean in this economy???

Episode 7

His ex returned from America. She wore beige trench coats, and knew my entire schedule and was always in my business (Girrrrlll...pipe down that ain't your man no more🥴). She just kept creating unnecessary misunderstandings. The script directed me to fall for those misunderstandings but I actually preferred to slap her😑🙅‍♀️

Episode 8

CEO and I got some time to ourselves. It rained. Not normal rain though....some romantic rain. CEO held an umbrella over us. The umbrella was so small that we had to squish close to each other ( A CEO can't afford a bigger umbrella...what the hell😑). Anyways, we exchanged like 17 meaningful glances ( Hope the director got the shot he needed). The rain stopped and right before we arrived at my house, he started leaning close to me (is this what i think it is?)

Episode 9

We kissed guys....insane😭. It was slow and meaningful. Somewhere far away, the second lead sensed the kiss and stared sadly into the distance and I don't know how he knew. They are all connected to some emotional Wi-Fi against my will. He ended up confessing to me and I rejected him obviously (brother you had 10 years😑)

Episode 10

A shocking secret was revealed. Turns out his grandfather who was the chairman back then caused my grandfather's death- the one that scarred my father. So now I'm irritated and mad at him (I mean technically I'm not but the plot requires me to be....oh well🤪).

Episode 11

He broke up because he felt bad. No questions. No clarifications. No communications (Shit my walking money card is gone). Then I cried beautifully in the rain later (actually that sucked and now I have a fever). The CEO reached out to me too.... this man changes his mind so quickly🧐😑

Episode 12.

The misunderstanding was resolved in five minutes(why did it even happen in the first place😑) . The CEO'S mother likes me now, his grandfather too. My parents struggling chicken shop became popular. We had a wedding and I got married to a man I had been dating for 3 months which actually felt like 6 weeks because of how much time we wasted staring at each other.

And then I woke up....thank goodness because that was just too much.... I left out a lot of fine details so as not to bore you further with my boring life but feel free to ask any questions🤪.

If you all enjoy, I will ask my man THE CEO himself..Park Jin seok to take some time out of his non-existent busy schedule to give you his own POV and some more details😂

"This kind of debut album/ep in this economy???"- Appreciation for Heart of Woman and Close Your Eyes: The two I consider best (personally!)

I think Heart of Woman's Heart Byte and Close Your Eyes' Eternalt are the best 5th gen debut album/ep I have heard and easily part of my favourite albums. "Best" in K-pop is hardly every clear-cut because everyone values different things but these two are just mindblowing for me.

We've had a lot of great 5th gen debut songs but I'm specifically referring to the whole package (album/ep). Debuts are like every other day (hyperbole) so it takes a lot for me to consistently think of and go back to listen to two

ETERNALT is just one of those albums that clicked immediately. People use the word cohesive a lot, so pardon me, but this an album that actually feels cohesive. All My Poetry is a fantastic title track, but the b-sides are what really sold me. To The Woods and Close Your Eyes are incredible, and that little special monologue before the heavenly outro in Close your eyes does it for me every time.

My first favorites were How to Dance and Laid Back, and looking back this album is probably one of the reasons I started leaning more into rnb in kpop. Stay 4 Good and Upside Down are amazing too. I knew absolutely nothing about them, so seeing a group debut with 8 rnb songs was honestly a big surprise. Not necessarily saying they did it first, but it wasn't something I had observed much.

Mind you, this was released in April 2025 and here I am still talking about them. They've consistently released more great music (X, Who's Dat?, What if I miss love, Snowy summer etc) but that debut album really set them on high for me.

And then there's HEART BYTE

I don't even know what to say other than.......woowwww. Personal opinions and all, but I struggle to take any "best albums of the year" lists for 2026 seriously if this album isn't somewhere on them. That sounds SO DRAMATIC for a debut album, but then I listen to the album again and I'm like.....nahh I'm not dramatic at all...

I found it through a recommendation, and I was like 13 songs????? IN THIS K-POP ECONOMY?? Consider me flabbergasted.

Lost in proof is a solid title track but the rest of the album mogs it real bad, which is pretty impressive considering it's a really amazing track itself. Skit. exe is criminally short and incredibly good that I need to fight whoever made that goodness so short (It's exactly how I feel about Jo yuri's Round and round).

It's been over 2 months, and the album has not worn off at all. TEA and Dive with me grabbed me first but Told U so, $.$, and My vision are ridiculously good. Told U So is particularly gorgeous. I love the harmonies, the voices, and how every song just makes the album cohesive (yes I used the word again). The beat in $.$ is soo soooo nice.

When people bring up memorable 5th gen debut albums this will always come to mind first, but I don't even think I see much conversation around that as opposed to debut songs. Maybe if anyone of them become more popular down the line---then these will become the buried treasures. I hope it's up and up from here on for both groups!

Thanks for Reading

Baekhyun has built a TOP TIER solo discography over the years and I need to appreciate it (with those insane riffs too👏)

(Song in Video is CRY FOR LOVE)

Baekhyun has built such an amazing discography over the years and I can't get over it. I use Cry for love as the video today because even though it is one of his most famous songs and I have replayed that shit a crazy amount of times...I still can't get over the bridge with that insane riff shown in this video😭.

Like how can someone sing that well and also have such good songs. Apart from the fact that his voice is smooth like butter and very pleasing to the ears, he plants that into songs that absolutely drive me insane from how good they are.

The big guys like BAMBI, CRY FOR LOVE, UN VILLAGE, ALL I GOT.....are soooooooo good. When I play BAMBI, I instantly fold because this song is so perfectly sultry along with his voice. ALL I GOT has a riff that is even more insane than the one in cry for love and it just feels like a man yearning and crying desperately for love (pun unintended)

Once I see a tiktok video start with something that starts with something like "Yearning men but in kpop"..I immediately know its going to include Baekhyun.

Then when you delve into the entirety of his discography, you uncover gems upon gems upon gems.

Literally you have - Ice queen, woo, Underwater, Bungee, Diamond, Privacy, Chocolate, Elevator, Pineapple slice, Rendezvous, Amusement Park amongst many others.

Underwater is genuine eargarsm, the opening verse is like a siren, I'm always gagged. He has created such a unique and distinct sound that it's so impressive.

His voice is so calming and perfect and sensual.

He has chosen and mastered rnb into his work and it's such a delight listening to him, not to mention that he KNOWS how to stack a bridge and can sing that shit LIVE without a doubt.

I hope I can get to see him live someday. Such an insane body of work.

You should definitely be listening to this guy.

(The downvotes are crazy, I can't appreciate music here??...Live with it!l)

A tribute to the undefeated hand-shot in kdramas😂😂

Disclaimer: obligatory /s😂 (this is a light post)

The interlocked hand scene is the undefeated "micro-trope" King that we don't give enough flowers too😂.

Of course I know that kdramas have mastered the art of appealing to/alluding to sensuality without excessive nudity...and for that I'm grateful😭. Even the super intense kiss scenes (Think moon river, dear hongrang, her private life) are nowhere close to "the American way of portraying intimacy" and I love that.

But I can't help noticing every single time, the unfailing pan to their interlocked hands in whatever scene is "the intimate scene"😂. Its Oscar-worthy at this point.

They are kissing,

Then on the bed,

Then boom..aggressive hand grab by ml

Then fingers interlocked

A close up

And black out till the next morning

And of course we all know what went down😂😂.

I think the funniest part is that Kdramas have evolved in the romance department a lot. We used to suffer through really really bad fish kisses where the camera would do 17 angles, 3 slow mos, and a dramatic OST🥴🥴, while good kisses were delivered so sparsely.

Now even a short kiss has the involvement of both parties and they are also evolving in intensity as the plot permits.

However, the hand close-up shot remains undefeated😂😂. No matter how realistic the kisses and romance is, the directors refuse to let the symbolic hand shot retire.

Cdramas have the hand shot too, but they also randomly pan to the sounds of the sea or two animals kissing😂.

All I'm saying is I don't have a problem with it at all😂, but I can't help point out the consistent use of the interlocked hands...which actually mean interlocked legs.

Dear directors, thanks for keeping kdramas PG😂.

I know you've probably noticed them too😂😂

The most common sequences I've noticed in cdramas😂: A fluff post on the progression of many cdrama occurrences 😂😂

(Picture -Jiang Hansheng from Sunsets Secrets regrets, played by Jing Boran...just nudging you to go watch😗😗)

Anyways y'all I bring you something light this evening, if you will😂😭.

Today I'll be talking about all the SEQUENCES I have noticed in cdramas **(**i.e. WHEN this thing happens THEN that thing is probably going to happen next or in a matter of episodes).

It's kind of another aspect of tropes that we don't identify as much...but they are that common. Once I start going in, you're going to start realizing the frequency😭.

  1. When a character starts talking about what they'll do when everything is over and the case is solved, then they are probably going to die very soon.

  2. When a grand celebratory banquet is held, then somebody is getting poisoned, framed or assassinated or maybe even all three 😂😂

  3. When the leads together with their bodyguards, servants, and all the characters they hold together have a "feast" where they are happy and dance so much (probably outside), then there is going to be a major event that will claim half of their lives and then there will be a burial that will pan back to that specific feast moment as a flashback.

  4. When the villain starts winning too easily, then they've probably missed one crucial detail and our ml and fl are coming to save the day🤪😂

  5. When the Fl disguises herself as a man, then everyone except the courtesans will be fooled.

  6. When a character kneels in the rain to plead for a reversal/pardon on something from the Emperor, then they are probably going to change for the worse and becoming a full-on villain or become so hardened.

  7. When the ml says "I'll protect you", then the fl will soon finds herself in grave danger and the ml won't show up until the very last moment to save the day🤪😂...superhero who?

  8. When somebody says "I trust you completely" to another person, that person is probably going to betray them.

  9. When the villain gets exposed in front of everyone, then of course they start laughing like a maniac and then ramble on and take their own lives🥴

  10. When a physician says "there's still one way left to save him", then of course it is the most painful way possible or requires a drug that the ml/fl needs to trade their lives for, either with nature or a villain😑.

  11. When a servant says "Your highness is acting strangely lately", then that ml/fl is already in love and refuses to acknowledge it

  12. When the leads start discussing their future together, then danger is on its way and it's fast approaching 🥴 ....no peace for you till the last 5 minutes😂.

  13. When there's a hunting competition, then there will be an assassination attempt. Buy one get one free😍.

  14. When a main character starts coughing blood, then they will be fine for another 90 years...fret not🤪

  15. When the ml/fl falls off a cliff, they won't die....Trust me😂..anyone else...you're gone!!!🥴

  16. When a side character says "After this is over, let's....", then they are going to die soon.

  17. When a maid says "I have something important to tell you...meet me behind....", the bad guys are going to get to her and kill her first.

  18. When the ml/fl says "I'll tell you later/there's something I have to tell you" to their significant other, then they are not going to tell before the other person finds out and it snowballs into a misunderstanding😑.

  19. When a jade pendant appears and is shown to an old wet nanny/nurse, then she knows everything and is either about to become a crucial witness or get killed.

  20. When a servant trips and spills tea on the fl during an important meeting then its probably a trap by another woman who can't stand her guts (locking her in a room and accusing her of infidelity)🥴.

These are all the common ones I can think of now...any more from you😂😂??

Most common sequences I have noticed in kdramas- (When this thing happens, that thing is probably going to happen soon)😂

Here's another little discovery of mine😂. Here are all the things that once they happen, I can expect that this other thing is going to happen almost immediately or in a matter of episodes. Of course this does not apply to all, but I think they are all fairly common😂😂.

Let's gooooo

  1. Once a couple becomes official early- I can expect a forced breakup, separation at least 2 or 3 episodes before the finale😑😂

  2. Once the camera lingers on a truck while someone crosses the road - That person is gonna get hit and most probably die, the white truck of Doom strikes again😔

  3. Once a character says "I have something important to tell you/ I'll tell you something later" - they won't get to tell it because the other person will find out in the next scene or episode and everything is going to snowball into a big misunderstanding.

  4. Too much happiness in Episode 14?- Big suffering incoming in episode 15.

  5. If a character is crossing the road and turns after hearing their name-The grim reaper is near cause I know a car/truck will hit them and they will die.😔

  6. When a character is eavesdropping at a critical moment- They will only hear the worst possible thing and jump to conclusions immediately 😑.

  7. Once a main character starts packing their bag- Noble idiocy alert incoming😂, they are about to go break up for "the other person's good"

  8. Once a rich parent calls someone into a cafe or those vip restaurant rooms- That means "take this money and leave my son or daughter" is incoming😂.

  9. When a side character buys a gift and smiles to themselves- they probably won't get the chance to give it because they will die soon.

  10. Once a lead says "I trust them completely" to a character- Forget it, that person is going to betray them😑

  11. Once a character is about to board a plane and finally leave forever- Trust, someone's coming to sprint through the airport 😂😂

  12. Once a character discovers a secret document and starts reading it- someone is going to walk in before they reach the important page😂

  13. Once the female lead looks at something and says "it's pretty"- the male lead is going to say "it's pretty" while looking at her and she does not realise

  14. **Once a character starts cleaning an old room/storage box-**they are going to discover a major family secret or something crazy😂.

  15. Once the camera focuses on the phone battery- we know that character's phone is about to die before they receive and miss a call that will change their lives.

  16. Once a key witness remembers something- it's over, they are either gonna die or have to flee for their lives.

  17. Once we get to episode 8 of 12 or 8 of 16- there will be a kiss that marks the beginning of the relationship

  18. If a main character falls off a cliff- rest assured they aren't dead, they will back to save their significant other at the perfect moment when all hope is lost..superhero who??😂😂

  19. Once someone is feeling tired- Kopiko comes running to save the day and refresh them or pink balm will be offered to apply on their face and neck to make them look bright😂

  20. Once the leads keep missing the calls of someone "like ohh my mum is bothering me too much"- the person calling is about to die, and they are going to regret not picking up.

That's all the sequences I can think of at the moment...any more from you?😂🤌

XIE HUAYONG- The highlight! A man that graduated first-class in Shameless and Manipulation😩😩🤪 and all my thoughts (BLOSSOMS OF POWER, 2026)

Spoiler free as always with some pictures for you 😁.

(Title- *Shamelesness, why didn't I catch that👀)

I have a load of thoughts on this one. My post today is a review because I was genuinely undecided on what fit this best. So let's just say this is a rave (of a character), a review and a mini rant all rolled in one. A combo package, because I moved from very content to slightly dissatisfied...

Before I get to the crux of it all😗, I would like to say a big thank you to everyone involved in this casting process. Face cards to the left and right of me🤪, royal line and even servants and supporting characters with the face cards🤪. A feast for my eyes. Thank you for thinking of me casting team 🤌..obligatory /s

THE RAVE

Wrap it up everyone!!. This year's Best New Graduate from the Faculty of Shamelessness, Institute of Historical Romance, with a joint degree in Manipulation is Xie Huayong. I'm in loooove with this man😍, cause what's there not to love about this man?

Huayong feels like the perfect combination of Ji Bozai and Mu Qingyan. They graduated before him so he was clearly taking some good notes👀. He's manipulative, Shameless and disgustingly Sweet.

A man that is manipulative but not morally grey??🤌, an amazing combination. Usually manipulative characters end up eventually really hurting the person the love, I mean...that's just how I've seen it work. Somehow, Huayong doesn't work like that...his manipulation is about carefully guiding people exactly where he wants them to be😍. I volunteer as tribute🤪.

As the FL's brother perfectly put it: "I have fallen for another carefully dug trap of yours. What's even more terrifying is I don't see anything wrong with it". Exactly sir!!!..That's the ml's appeal..He manipulates situations and dynamics but somehow doesn't leave any emotional wreckage behind🤪. I approve!!

This man yearned to perfection. He reminded me of a term I coined a while back: "The Self-Restrained-Down-Bad-Plotters". A mouthful phrase..I apologise😂😂, but it truly embodies everything about him.

He Yu brought this character to life😩. I loved how he looked at her, the way you watch him stare at her while she acted like she couldn't be moved was just hilarious😂. Like ma'am you're gonna fall at the end of the day..you're just taking your time to get there😂.

I also really loved that he actually felt like a master of the court. Even with his health issues, he was able to control the board and everything else. He also got things done at lightning speed, especially during the first arc and it was incredibly satisfying. No unnecessary delays..just a competent man..very mindful, very demure 😮‍💨.

THE DRAMA REVIEW

I had high hopes for this drama. Okay wait, when I start like that it sounds really bad, but I'm just trying to say I should have had good hopes instead of high hopes😔.

I really really really enjoyed Meng ziyi in this role. I loved her portrayal of a calculating yet kind-hearted princess. I also loved seeing the fl open up and gradually fall in love. I really loved how her eyes are so full of affection for him especially in the latter episodes🥰 (see pictures).

I loved the dynamic between her and the ml..10/10. I'm always a fan of an fl who can match the ml move for move and she always does, right from the start👏. I enjoyed the progression of their relationship and it felt pretty smooth, with good kisses and even better buildups and emotional setups.

The relationships between the leads and their servants and bodyguards is another great thing. Thank goodness it didn't end in premium tears. I also really enjoyed the character development of that prince and that girl. If you've watched you know who I'm talking about. Their final decisions surprised me in a really good way.

And damnn the villain turnover rate in this show was near madness 😂. Villain after villain..mini, midi and maxi villain. Don't get me wrong, it kept things entertaining but they were quite a lot.

And to he and she who shall not be named ..what a waste🥴🥴. That sob story or sequence towards the end did not work on me..good riddance🏌‍♀️.

THE RANT

The final arc was where things started getting messy for me.

I was intrigued, then confused, then impressed, then slightly annoyed🥴. The execution and payoff felt mad rushed. I'm a complete sucker for emotional payoff and closure but that final arc reduced all the emotional stakes.

There were some genuinely good twists and I was caught off-guard but then the writers just dropped their pens and remembered they had somewhere else to be🥴...wait no, come back please😂.

I couldn't understand how we got to the ending. Its one of those situations where I'm happy everything turned out fine, but I cannot understand how we arrived at "fine"😂.

Huayong please manipulate me into understanding 🥴.

For most of the show I had a few complaints. Then the show threw me off balance, reeled me back in, shifted me to the side and handed me a lollipop so I wouldn't complain...thanks, I guess?🥴😂.

So yeah, Did I enjoy the ride? VERY MUCH. Could we have parked the car a little more smoothly? MOST DEFINITELY. Regardless, Huayong remains my undisputed highlight of this drama and a favourite 2026 leading man.

Sincerely,

Your resident romance lover🥰

Love Love Love Redvelvet's new mini on first listen

Love it so much. I think Surfing boy is my favourite right now followed by Orchestra🥰. There's so many beat or is it tempo changes going on in Hot Girls Cold vibe that I was a little lost at first..but I'm listening again and I like it🤌🥰. Very laid back album for me in terms of overall vibes but ain't nothing laid back about their vocals 🤪

Will listen more later...added all to my redvelvet playlist🤌

28 Episodes of Pure Adrenaline: A general that generals, An intelligent FL and Court politics that never let me catch my breath. I'm happily drained....(KEY TO THE PHOENIX HEART 2026)

Spoiler free as always but a bit lengthy😁..

Well this was one hell of a show and easily my favourite Hou minghao role so far. I just felt like he gave an impeccable performance from start to finish.

Key to the Phoenix Heart might be the fastest-paced show I have watched all year, and I genuinely thought Ashes to Crown was going to hold that record to the end. Unlike some of my criticisms of ATC, KTTPH is an extremely tightly driven story. It wastes no time. After the first 8 episodes, I could not believe how much had happened😯. By episode 12, I was Delightfully overwhelmed because it was so fast but so good that I needed to finish it all at once😮‍💨.

Let me get one thing out of the way first in a bid to encourage others...

I saw a lot of discourse around Ai mi's age before the show started and the romance tag....very valid concerns (which I also had to be fair). Having taken the step to watch the show for my love for HMH and the good reviews, I can confidently say this show was not inappropriate at all🙅‍♀️. I really loved how she transitioned from a young girl to someone bold, intelligent and capable of making her own decisions. The chemistry between her and HMH felt natural, and the romance fed off that chemistry alone (and a couple of hugs). To avoid saying more than necessary, the romance is written in a way where the male lead does a good amount of quiet heavy lifting through sheer devotion.

What I'm saying is romance is not the driving force of this show and should not be the thing that makes you watch it....mine was Minghao😮‍💨

Nowwwww........a 24/28 episode historical drama will always get an eyebrow raise from me because can it truly be enough🤨? This one was more than enough!

HMH's performance as Xiao wuyi is one of the peaks of this drama. He is a ruthless General who is intimidating on the battlefield yet emotional in private. A general that actually generals....thank goodness!!😂🤌. A good amount of fight scenes and grand battles.....thank goodness again🤪.

There's this thing people say where I'm from when they want to humble somebody, jokingly or seriously: "I'm your daddy". What that loosely means is, after all your arguments and tantrums, I'm still bigger than you and I'll put you in your place.

That was Xiao wuyi in a nutshell to me😂. He was bigger than everyone who claimed to be a villain combined🤌.

The amount of grand entrances this man had in this show was ridiculous 😂. Everytime someone was being stupid, evil, or thought they had the upper hand, he appeared at the perfect moment to put them in their place. EVERY SINGLE TIME😂. Sometimes he did it by tearing them apart with his words in court, and sometimes he literally just tore them apart😬.

He is a general who dares to do what others won't. He is not afraid to get blood on his hands which makes his fierceness believable.

Ai Mi as Xie Jiayu is another peak in this show. She is clever, resourceful and proactive rather than a heroine who waits to be rescued....wonderful!🤌. Her intelligence and her skills actually drive the plot. She's not just some teenage girl married to a general. She's constantly observing, adapting to danger and figuring things out herself😮‍💨.

Long before the relationship gets sweeter she's matching the male lead's moves. She's not afraid to test him to get her answers (she didnt give a shit lol😂). She does not blindly rely on people...a good mix of wit, vulnerability and courage. She delivers some of the most emotionally compelling moments in the story.

When it comes to the relationship between the leads, it develops naturally. I like how rooted the fl is in her decisions. She stands by people until they give her a reason not to. The gradual shift from suspicion to trust plays out well.

Riley Wang as Prince Qi is my third peak in this drama. Absolutely incredible performance. What makes him stand out is how unpredictable he is. He's not a one-dimensional rival or ally. His motives and loyalty are tied to many different things and he does not hesitate to switch them around whenever it suits him.

I questioned his morality a lot....and that was part of what made him complex. He keeps you guessing where he really stands. He adds a lot of depth to the court intrigue and makes the web of rivalries and hidden agendas more engaging.

There are many more solid characters but I'll leave you to discover those yourself.

Key to the phoenix heart succeeds for me because it balances complex political intrigue with mystery and some romance....none of which are new under the sun.

It is one of my standouts this year🥰. Though to be fair, I feel like I've had a lot of standouts this year too😂😂. Maybe I should quit saying standouts...but it's not my fault that there have been that many good shows🤪.

Sincerely,

Me

(Random- I miss mu Qingyan..I'm still here )

Off to watch Blossoms of power...heard there is a shameless man waiting for me there🤪....

Common ways kdramas are named that I find mildly interesting and funny😂😂😂. I know others have noticed these too😂

Disclaimer: Obligatory /s throughout the post😂😂

I always used to think that cdramas had very typical/ common naming systems. They latch onto a word like Journey, Blossom, Legend and run with it for the next 10 dramas😂😂

Then I wondered if I could recognize similar patterns in kdramas and without a doubt...yes!!!

1. THE ADJECTIVE + OCCUPATION naming systems:

  • Fiery + Priest = The Fiery Priest
  • Bad + Prosecutor= Bad Prosecutor
  • Good + Manager= The Good Manager
  • Extraordinary + Attorney= Extraordinary Attorney Woo

So maybe we can expect a show in the next few years named Suspicious Accountant or maybe even Lovely Coffee maker. On the subject of lovely tho.........

2. The MY + LOVELY + ROLE naming systems😂

  • My + Lovely+ Runner= My lovely runner
  • My + Lovely + Boxer= My lovely boxer
  • My + Lovely + Liar= My lovely liar

What's lovely about a liar😂😂...jk, jk, I know that there are more detailed korean names for most shows but as an international watcher these are the names we get fed😂😂.

Now what if there was nothing lovely about what was in MY possession. SO .....

3 THE MY + ANYTHING Naming Systems

  • My + Mister= My mister
  • My + Liberation= My liberation notes
  • My + Royal Nemesis= My royal Nemesis
  • My + Demon= My demon (well I would not want a demon to be mine though😂😂)
  • My + Golden= My Golden life (I'll take a golden life instead)

4. THE UNPREDICTABLES

This is the naming system that goes incredibly hard, One word and we know the show is going to slap!

  • Happiness
  • Signal
  • Kingdom
  • Bloodhounds

5. THE ROYALTY CATEGORY: and it mostly makes use of the word...Queen

  • Queen of Tears
  • Under the Queen's Umbrella
  • Mr Queen
  • The Queen who crowns
  • Queen for seven days
  • Queen Mantis

This category is very flexible, because it is used for both historical and modern dramas and we can hardly predict what else will be there.

If all things don't work out and you can't be any of these things then of course you can be a doctor😂

6. THE DOCTOR CATEGORY

  • Doctor romantic
  • Doctor John
  • Doctor slump
  • Doctor prisoner

Being a doctor is great, very great so I am glad we have someone in this category!.

Randomly we also get thrown questions, Questions that I hope will get answered by the end of the drama

7. THE QUESTION CATEGORY

  • Who are you?- dear friends of this sub, who are you really😂
  • Are you human too?- please tell me y'all are not bots or something😂
  • Do you like Brahms?- uhhh, I am not too sure😂
  • What's wrong with secretary kim?- Trust me, it's probably faster to ask secretary kim
  • Why her?- I don't know, cause she's that girl😂😂

Well friends, hope you enjoyed reading to this point, and did I miss anything?😂😂

Quite literally the most insane bridge I've heard in kpop, TEMPO-EXO. The layers upon layers...heavenly🤌.

That's the post.

I haven't found a bridge that compares. I have found many other good bridges but the way Exo layered this shit was insane. I'm not even sure I can find another bridge like this in their own work😭.

Tempo's bridge so good, I yearned to know more about them and now I'm obsessed with a lot of their songs (Artificial love for life).

These men can sing!

Heartbyte by Heart of Woman and Eternalt by CYE are two of MY best debut albums I have heard from 5th gen and I need to appreciate them. There is a completeness for me in these two works✨️.

I always try to branch out and listen to as many songs as possible. I also really love rnb in kpop, so I listen heavily to baekyun, jaehyun, haechan, redvelvet, exo etc.

Please note that this is not a definitive discussion claiming that these albums are the best in all of 5th gen but they are simply MY PERSONAL BEST in fifth gen.

I listened to Close your eyes' Eternalt when it was freshly released. I didn't know who they were and somehow I saw it on Spotify. Absolutely HEAVENLY.

It impresses me that All my poetry, How to dance, Laid back, To the woods, Stay for good, Close your eyes etc all come from THE SAME ALBUM!!!. My favourite is Close your eyes...it makes me literally levitate.

There is a Completeness to that album, like a group of people sat down and intentionally crafted an album like that and the tracks just keep seamlessly blending into each other and i keep adding them to my playlist. It blows my mind. It's how I see albums like Taste by Haechan or Face the Sun by seventeen or Perfect Velvet by Red velvet. The music is beautiful like its designed to kiss your ears. I know it sounds like I'm glazing them but I love when I'm stunned by music.

Heart of Woman's Heartbyte is an album that I'm still living in. 11 songs in a debut album, I nearly couldn't believe it. Its so deliciously rnb. Like skit.exe, Tea, My vision, dive with me, $.$, Lost in proof, One beat all in one album!!!!. Skit.exe being that short while having insane Melody frustrates me, it reminds of how I feel when I remember how short Jo yuri's Round and round is😭. $.$ is my current favourite.

There's just an intentionality with these two albums. It's so obvious that there was a vision with both of their music and I AM THE TARGET AUDIENCE. Its very impressive that it was their debut. Genuinely gagged!

I really really love it and I hope to encourage more people to listen to them🥰

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: I have fallen in love with a show again and I need to SCREAM IT OUT LOUD so you all can fall in love with it too. Football, Lots of Feelings, and a very Masculine man😝😝 (ROAD TO SUCCESS 2026)

SPOILER FREE

Okay guys😭😭, this is the one, I'm in awe and I am still recovering from the brilliance of this show. Take me back to Saturday, when I clicked episode 1...ughhhh😭😭😭. (Hands folded...Please watch this show...it's that good)

Yet another show that completely wraps me in its warmth. A show so well-rounded, with so many characters worth rooting for😭

Everything was just soooooooooooooooooooooooooo good. Did I say it was good? 🙂‍↕️(ughhh...I cannot believe it's over already).

Everything was just so perfect; the relationship between the ML and Fl, the growth of the team, the way those boys fought effortlessly on the field and even moreso with each other😂😂. The intense love-hate dynamic between Wan Changye and Fu Xinshu. The psychological aspect. Do I even need to keep going at this point guyssss....It just all blended together seamlessly.

A wonderful fl carrying her own trauma. A coach also carrying his. A bunch of kids who think they have given up on themselves, even though there's still a fire burning inside them.

I loved the boys' dynamic. I loved all their playful banter and arguments. I loved how they managed to be both childish and somewhat mature at the same time.

The highlight of this show?........Wan Chengye and Fu Xinshu, absolutely fascinating dynamic. Chengye's feelings towards Xinshu had this unmatched intensity to them, and honestly, they were also ridiculously handsome too😆.

I felt like this was basically Chengye's mindset in a nutshell:

"Oh so you're happy without me?

You shouldn't be happy without me. Let me annoy you and make you sad.

Oh wait...not too sad though.

But I still don't want you being happy without me.

Pay attention to me, am I that forgettable?"

Chengye was an absolute force to be reckoned with. He executed all his feelings perfectly.

I also loved how psychology was woven into the story, not just through the FL and how she helped others, but in how it became weaponized against her. The show's portrayal of trauma was layered and powerful, and the bit of mystery was good. To me, it showed how people can carry unimaginable burdens and still somehow become a light for others.

And the romance?-LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!. The way it unfolded felt so natural. The lingering glances from the Ml, all the times he questioned himself, the quick looks from the FL. He fell first and fell even harder (exactly how I like it)

A masculine man with massive zaddy energy. I wanted to claw into my screen. It sort of reminded me how I always reacted when Chen yanyun from A splendid match came on to my screen. Masculine men have me feral.

If the number of times I've said "I loved" wasn't enough, let me say it again: I LOVED THIS SHOW.

10/10. An absolute joy to watch, and I don't see why you shouldn't watch it too.

Xoxo.....

Your resident romance lover🥰

The Joys of Being wrong: Out of my comfort zone but straight into my heart🧎‍♀️.

As always: SPOILER FREE

Everyone's comfort zone is different. Mine is romance. Give me a solid romance, even if it's just a side plot and I'm already interested. Let it just be cutesy, stress free and sweet🥰. I find myself avoiding heavier dramas most times because life may be a bit stressful and I just want escapism.

However, every now and then, I take a chance on a drama that doesn't sound like my thing and end up finding something special. I watched all of them last year and they are somehow still living rent-free in my head.

SMILE CODE

Starring Lin yi and Shen yue.

I love both actors but for some reason I couldn't bring myself to start this drama. Between the darker tones, the mixed reviews and people describing it as emotionally heavy, I convinced myself that it was probably just another melodrama that would leave me miserable🙅‍♀️.

I was wrong. A stand up comedian and a man who struggles with alexithymia (difficulty understanding and expressing emotions)? Who even thought of that😂?.

A drama with darker lighting, subdued atmosphere, the occasional light and dark humor and a sprinkle of grief. Even side characters like Boss Jacqueline were so memorable. As melancholic as the reviews said, but they forgot to add how heartfelt it was🥰. A different kind of love and a bit of tearjerking loss. I think the 2 of them outdid themselves here.

NORTHWARD

Honestly I should have started this immediately. I mean Bai lu was right there.

I watched the drama win awards, gain popularity, collect praise and yet somehow I still wasn't convinced. The descriptions made it sound like a serious slice-of-life drama about poverty, social change, family, community, ambition....

Okay, I know that does not sound exciting 😂🙅‍♀️.

However, Northward put super simply, is a story about a generation trying to find its footing in a changing world. It's raw, authentic, funny, frustrating, and deeply emotional. It's also one of the few dramas that genuinely made me cry a lot. It's so real and beautiful😭😔. I laughed, cried, got attached, and of course wanted to beat up characters through the screen as I always love to😂🏌‍♀️.

It's Honestly so good that I've run out of convincing arguments.

Just watch it.

THE IMPERIAL CORONER SEASON 1

A drama from a few years ago, starring relatively unknown actors, with cinematography and styling that didn't exactly scream must-watch.

So yeah I ignored it😂

I first came across it in 2023 or was it 24 and barely even acknowledged it. Then in 2025 I finally said, fine just one episode, let's see....

A few hours later I was carrying my phone from the kitchen, to the dining table, to the washroom and back to bed because I physically could not stop watching😂😂.

The show is so ridiculously clever, layering itself with mind-blowing twists until the very last 5 minutes.....the last 5🥴😯.

As someone who prioritises romance, the tiny amount of romance or basically non-existent romance was actually one of the reasons I hesitated to start. Turns out the mystery was good enough for me to even forget about romance😁.

And if you haven't watched it yet, you're in luck, Season 2 is out, and I really enjoyed it. Let's just say the romance went from about 2 to 20%

It's always nice to challenge yourself and be met with such a rewarding time. So yes, I recommend all three. They might end up being your cup of tea too😏

You won't know till you take a sip😁

Bye....

My favourite tropes of this subreddit😂

Since kdramas themselves have tropes...why don't we also have and name our tropes lol...😂

Ps:Love this sub and grateful that it's more relaxing, it's just hilarious at times how often these happen. I can't be the only one noticing the patterns lol🥴.

  1. Calling the most well rated shows and actors UNDERRATED.

  2. Calling every show a masterpiece after the first few episodes.

  3. Posting a drama picture, edit or talking about a drama without adding the name.

  4. Sometimes people don't even add spoiler tags at their post...after giving the most insane spoilers for a show.

  5. The multiple "Is anyone else loving this show post" after a new drama starts airing.

What's a subreddit about kdramas without its own tropes..we've got to stay true to the source😂😂🤪
