Peace. To be in a place where there is no noise, trouble or hard work. It means to be in the midst of these things and still be calm in your heart. ~unknown
Neale Woods is a magical place.
Nature's fireworks 😉
Video doesn't do it justice. So many fireflies. Not being in a drought helps.
We don't spray pesticides of any kind here.
yes, we've got a few weeds, clover, violets etc. But we also have a great variety of insects, both pests and beneficial, Some pretty cool insects too. Assassin bugs, tortoise shell beetles, wheel bugs, ladybugs, mantis... they really do a good job keeping the naughty ones in check. Many types of bees and wasps, as well as many birds.
A lost flower here or there or a few chewed leaves is no big deal in the big scheme of things. Japanese beetles on the other hand can be problematic but soapy water takes care of those pretty well. The fireflies have always been numerous here and this year they're exceptionally numerous.
Our time with him was short but sweet.
We rescued Toad a few years ago. He had a broken tail, he was only fed mealworms, he lived in a small tank with inadequate light and heat. We have him a better life. After Ione and a half years of frustration and perseverance he finally started to eat greens on his own. He was so sweet. Loved nestling up in your neck or pancaking on my spouse's tummy. 2 days ago, he went from 100% to 20% in less than 24 hours and we took him to the vet because we knew something just wasn't right. Turns out he had tumors. We didn't want him to suffer so we let him go.
When we first got him I joined this group for advice and so many of you were very helpful. Your suggestions made a huge difference and the fact that he started eating greens on his own was absolutely the best.
for that, I thank you.
Very quick jumper. Cute too.
Omaha, Nebraska, today. I brought some plants inside and noticed this cutie swaying back and forth. Then poof! He was gone. Was very small, maybe the size of a pinhead. Leafhopper type insect, or grasshopper maybe. Thank you for any info.
This has been going nonstop since 10am today with a few 2 minute breaks every so often. He uses this machine multiple times a week, sometimes daily. Yeah, really. All winter, spring and fall. Have no idea what it is. For over 3 years now, almost every day, it's power tools, dogs and this noise, whatever it is.
