Probably the worst customer interaction I’ve ever had

At work today, a customer was yelling in my face because the $200 suit was ringing up at $254. I was trying to explain to him that I added the pants his son was getting, and I asked if he wanted me to remove the extra pair of pants. He wouldn’t let me speak, and he and his son were yelling at me. I tried my hardest to explain to them as calmly and politely as I could.

They kept yelling and wouldn’t let me speak. Then the father stormed over to the rack, ripped the sale sign off the holder, and kept yelling, so I took it out of his hand and explained it to him. Yeah, I’m frustrated and extremely bothered because I was pushed to my limit. Then he wanted a manager, so I asked my coworker who works in fulfillment to call someone because my theatro was dead. They kept yelling at me, so I walked away and said, "I’m done. Have a good day." I’m by myself; I can’t call anyone; I haven’t eaten, and I have two grown men yelling in my face. Leadership wasn’t present on the second floor.

Every other interaction with customers was great. I can be patient and hold my tongue, which I did, but I had no way out in that situation. Afterward, I was sent home with full pay for the day. To rest and relax. You know I’ve been working there for three years. It’s been okay while I’ve been in college, and I have never had an interaction as wild as that one. The weirdest thing about it is we had just opened a credit. He went from zero to one hundred over not even a miscommunication; he wouldn’t even let me communicate.

I guess a general question for everyone here is what’s the wildest customer interaction you’ve had?

I like the hard separation Seven Havens will bring to the franchise

A lot of people are upset about Avatar Seven Havens showing the destruction of the Four Nations and Korra losing her connection to the past Avatars. I get why it feels rough, but I honestly think it’s one of the better long-term decisions they’ve made for the franchise.
It creates a hard separation between everything that came before and whatever comes next. Once that connection is gone and the old nations are gone, future stories (and any potential prequels about ancient Avatars) don’t have to constantly answer “why didn’t later Avatars just do X?” or “why wasn’t this ever mentioned?”

If they start fleshing out Avatars from way before Roku with major techniques, political moves, or world-changing events, those details can stay contained in the past without creating plot holes in the eras we already know. The break gives the writers room to expand the ancient history without it clashing with Aang, Korra, or future series.

I know it’s painful for a lot of fans, but from a story-consistency standpoint, this separation is actually pretty clean.

I’m a 22M and I need help finding a career path.

I’m a 22-year-old man, and I have no clue what I want to do with my life. I’m not particularly passionate about anything, and I don’t have many hobbies. I only play video games and hang out with my boyfriend. I feel completely stuck. I’m in school right now for business administration, but I mostly just did that because my Mom wanted me to go back to school. My first year of community college was in criminal justice, but I felt the degree was too narrow, so I took a gap year and settled on business administration because I feel I can do a lot with it as a stepping stone. I can afford school. I’m not taking student loans. I guess I’m doing something rather than nothing. I don’t feel driven to do a specific job. I don’t feel a calling. I want a job that pays well and that I am good at. The only thing I’m passionate about is storytelling or drafting, I guess. I haven’t actually written a whole story or created anything. I write everything down, but I don’t see any value in my ideas. It’s not like I can walk into a studio and say Make my movie. I don’t know whether anyone has any advice on anything I can do.

There’s no growing opportunities at my store

There’s no growing opportunity at Macy's. At least at the store I work at. Recently, a position became available, and of the four candidates, two were exceptionally strong. Resumes that matched the position, and they had a great work ethic. They had been with the company for years. Instead of picking one of those two candidates, they picked the fourth one, who had no experience with the position, hadn’t worked a register before, and had been with the company for a shorter time. This was a leadership position in a very challenging, register-oriented area. Instead of picking one of the stronger candidates, they chose a less capable candidate out of favoritism.

This is a pattern I’ve noticed in my store's leadership, particularly with the store manager. Instead of selecting internal candidates who would fit the role well, he pushes management to prioritize external candidates, even when they aren’t a good fit. This recent position was the first time he had to choose an internal candidate because there were no external candidates. Instead of picking individuals who’d do the job well, he picked someone whom he likes. I’m leaving out important details because I don’t want this to reach anyone at my store, but it’s very troubling to witness time and time again. I’ve decided to begin looking for another job. Job markets are tough, but I’m hoping I’ll find somewhere better. The people and the workload aren't the problem. The lack of mobility and clear favoritism are the problems.

My store manager always talks about bringing in new talent, but doesn’t appreciate the talent already there. It’s become a growing issue among the store's staff. Why should we put the effort in when we don’t gain anything from it, especially when compared to others who don’t do anything? It’s a troubling issue that I think we’ve all had to experience before. Business in America isn’t based on your talent, skills, or effort. It’s entirely based on who likes you. It’s like that movie Send Help—fair warning to anyone who wants to grow within a company. Don’t pick Macy's.

Is There a Supernatural Being Looking Out For Me?

I’m not spiritual or religious. I was raised Catholic, but we barely practiced it. I’m a logical, skeptical person who’s always been wary of anything supernatural. I just wanted to share something that’s been on my mind lately.

I came out as gay in high school. In my sophomore year (during COVID), I developed strong feelings for a close friend. He didn’t feel the same; the friendship faded, and I pulled away from the group to focus on my mental health. I’ve dealt with existential dread since I was a kid (stemming from an end-of-the-world documentary and recurring nightmares about dying). At one point, it spiraled into a kind of spiritual psychosis where I thought praying hard enough would make him love me, prove God was real, and erase my fear of death. Therapy helped a lot — I was diagnosed with ADHD and anxiety — and I’ve been in a much better place mentally since.

Fast forward to 2024. I was in community college, feeling very lonely with no friends or boyfriend. During the solar eclipse, I was sitting in my car on the way home and just felt overwhelmed by the isolation. On a whim, I spoke out loud to the universe (or whatever might be listening that wasn’t negative) and asked for help finding a boyfriend and reconnecting with friends.
A couple of weeks later, I was swiping on Tinder. I came across one profile that stopped me in my tracks. I stared at it for like 10 minutes, even though it wasn’t the most impressive profile. Something just drew me to it. I liked it, and that’s how I met my current boyfriend. We’ve been together for two years now. We have scarily similar life experiences despite being very different people. Talking to him felt like we already knew each other. He’s a Cambodian Buddhist who’s very spiritual (he did witchcraft, not calling Buddhism witchcraft like he did legit witchcraft, rituals, etc.), which has been new and interesting for me.

Since then, I’ve also been slowly reconnecting with old friends. This week, they came to me for advice about the guy I used to like — he’s been making one of the girls in the group uncomfortable by obsessing over her. They didn’t want to confront him directly, so we planned to give them space using hanging out with me as a cover.

Here’s where it gets weird for me: I’m currently watching the Thai BL Goddess Bless You From Death (no spoilers, please, I’m only on episode 2). There’s a psychic who feels safe around a detective because ghosts stay away from him — and the psychic says a god is watching over the detective. It hit me harder than I expected.

I’ve had unusually good luck the past couple of years — not just with my boyfriend and friends, but with work opportunities and being protected from several potential car accidents and job issues. It feels like something has a genuine vested interest in my well-being and success.

I’m still the same skeptical person, but I can’t shake the feeling that something might be looking out for me. Has anyone else had experiences like this — where life starts lining up in ways that feel too meaningful to be pure coincidence, even if you’re not religious? Is a supernatural or otherworldly being looking out for me, and how do I know what it is?

What’s Your Go To Mods?

I’ve been playing the game for around a month or so now and I was wondering what are some of your guys must have mods. I really like the euromod collection, the South east Asia mods, and expanded German navy. A lot of mods are out of date and depreciated so I haven’t tried them all. Any scenario recommendations would be appreciated because there’s so many it’s hard to find good ones.

My boyfriend and I’s two year anniversary is coming up and I want to go to a nice restaurant. Something that tastes good, has a good atmosphere, and isn’t ridiculously expensive. I don’t want to go to a chain restaurant or a bar. I want to go to a nice place. Anyone have any recommendations?
