Alex Eala is on a roll! 🔥 Fresh off her title run with Bartunkova last June 5 at the Lexus Birmingham Open 2026, the Filipino tennis star gained back her momentum from her @hsbcchampionships with Jovic, yet going with another statement victory. Playing with even greater intensity and confidence, Eala powered past world No. 2 Elena Rybakina in the Round of 16 at the @berlintennisopen , securing back-to-back wins up to the semi-final round with 2-6,4-6 against Noskova.

The very first person of Filipino heritage to receive the Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire MBE specifically for services to educational leadership.

Featured at @inquirerdotnet @phildailyinquirer The very first person of Filipino heritage to receive the Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire MBE specifically for services to educational leadership.

There is a profound beauty in a life spent lifting others up. For Edison David, that journey began as a public school teacher in Tarlac, Philippines, before a leap of faith brought him to the UK around the turn of the millennium. For over twenty years, he quietly and fiercely championed the children who needed it most, serving as an executive headteacher in London and breathing new life into schools like Granton Primary.

His tireless devotion did not go unnoticed. In a moment that surely brought tears of joy to his family and community, he was awarded an MBE by King Charles III for his monumental services to education. But the most moving image of all came in May 2026 at Windsor Castle.

Receiving his medal from Prince William, Edison wore his heritage on his sleeve, literally stepping forward in a beautiful, traditional barong. As one of the very first Filipinos in the UK education sector to receive this honor, he didn't just break a glass ceiling; he paved a path of gold for every Filipino dreaming of making their mark on the world.

"I wanted to proudly represent Filipino heritage."- Edison David

Curator and scholar Peter Lee received good feedback from the socialist, co-scholars & historians on his documentary featured on @channelnewsasia titled "Asia's real masters of the sea, from Indonesia's forgotten kingdom to Vietnam's ancient empire; The Mark Of Empire follows the traces of Asia's maritime civilisations, from Srivijaya to Sulu, exploring how they continue to shape faith, identity and craft today."

2.1. DESCENDANTS KEEPING TRADITIONS ALIVE

The series highlights how Southeast Asia's history is kept alive not only through monuments but also through people who continue traditions passed down for generations.

In Sumatra, the Orang Laut seafaring communities preserve ancestral navigation skills once linked to the Srivijaya, using the sun and stars before modern tools like GPS. In the southern Philippines, Lee explores kuntaw, a traditional martial art used by the Sultanate of Sulu to defend against foreign powers.

He also meets Muedzul-Lail Tan Kiram, who reflects on preserving his family's heritage and hopes for peace and harmony in the community.

"Alexandra Eala has again made the 🇵*🇭Philippines proud as Eala participate first time in the Internationaux de Strasbourg Womens Tenni*s
Association WTA Strasbourg tournament for this year 2026.

Eala won 1st set by 6-3 against her opponent
Ukraine player Oleksandra Oliynykova but followed loss of 5-7 and 3-6 on the 32 opening round.

Even in a tough first-round exit, there are still real positives: Eala pushed a match to three sets, fought back after momentum shifted, and gained more experience on clay at the WTA level. That kind of match sharpens decision-making under pressure and builds resilience more than easy wins ever could. You made all 🇵*🇭Filipino proud*! 🙌🏻*🙌*🏻🙌🏻”
