How often to change toothbrush with treatment resistant thrush?

I developed oral thrush two weeks ago. I’ve had recurring cases since getting Invisalign. But this time, nystatin didn’t work for me. So I was prescribed daily 200mg of fluconazole. Will changing my toothbrush every few days during treatment help?

I broke my last wax filter

I wear Oticon RIC hearing aids. I was trying to clean out some wax and accidentally poked a hole in one of my wax filters. I don’t have any more. My audiologist appointment is next week. Will I be fine wearing them until then?

Normal Biopsies, now what?

I’m 18 and have had severe GI symptoms for 4 years. I have blood and mucus in stool, alternating bowel habits (once per week up to 6 times per day), severe abdominal cramping, and severe nausea. While my original colonoscopy had some abnormal visual findings:
Congested, erythematous and nodular mucosa in the rectum and recto-sigmoid junction, my biopsy results came back clear! I haven’t met with the doctor for our follow up yet , just saw it on my portal but I’m so frustrated. I was really hoping for an answer and now I don’t know what to do.

Also, not sure if this is relevant but I have PMOS and OBGYN is concerned about endometriosis but is avoiding surgery for now as we try birth control.

Anxiously waiting for biopsy results

I got my first colonoscopy last Thursday (6 days ago) due to four years of blood and mucus in stool. (Age 18) They found inflammation (or in the official words: Congested, erythematous and nodular mucosa), which they biopsied. They also biopsied normal looking tissue. I am so anxiously waiting on these results. I hope it’s something simple I can fix but I really want answers to my symptoms. How did y’all handle the wait? I am checking my portal every day.

The IV isn’t painful!

For anyone with an upcoming colonoscopy who is nervous about needles. I was TERRIFIED. Like clinical phobia of needles terrified. Every time I get bloodwork, it is so painful. So when I arrived at my procedure, I freaked out a bit before I let them put it in my arm. And.. it didn’t hurt. I felt a bit a pressure, but not nearly as bad as my bloodwork or vaccines. Of course, this may depend on the nurse and this is just my experience. But I wanted to share this in case it eases anyone’s nerves.

How long can you charge hearing aids?

I typically don’t wear my hearing aids on the weekend as I am home alone and only work Monday-Friday. But I realized, should I be concerned about over-charging my hearing aids? I have Oticon zicron miniRITE and I leave them on the desktop charger all weekend.

Colonoscopy prep not working!

My colonoscopy is in 4 hours. I followed the instructions perfectly! Low fiber for 4 days, liquid diet for over 24 hours. I just finished my last dose an hour ago and am still having dark liquid stools. Will I need to cancel? What do I do?

Update: I was able to complete the colonoscopy. Since they were testing for IBD, it was clear enough to see all inflammation. However, there was still some stool blocking a complete view so for a colon cancer screening, this may not have been adequate.

Does it matter how often providers perform colonoscopies?

My doctor recently told me that she performs colonoscopies once per month. She is incredibly caring and I am grateful that she will be testing me for IBD, but my cousin, a gastroenterologist, raised a concern that once a month may not be enough to maintain her skills? Does the frequency of procedures influence the providers’ skill set?

Biopsies during colonoscopy

Do doctors take biopsies during a colonoscopy when evaluating young adult for IBD even if it looks completely normal? My doctor never mentioned biopsies because she said it’s usually visible- but I read about it online and am nervous.

Is this balance billing?

I am seeing a new dentist and they sent me an outline of my insurance benefits. They then stated: “If insurance pays less than we anticipate for any reason, then you'll be responsible for the balance due.”

Are these precasted toothbrushes safe?

I brush my teeth with fluoride toothpaste in the morning and night. However, I have clear aligners (Clarity 2mm) and dont like to bring the toothbrush with me to work. I bought these pre pasted toothbrushes off Amazon before realizing they aren’t FDA approved. Are they safe to use?

How often do you change your retention tail/sports lock?

I’ve had RIC hearing aids for about 6 months. I use a retention tail to keep them in, but I noticed, despite cleaning it every day, it’s starting to look discolored. How often do most people change these? Do I buy new ones myself, or ask the audiologist at my appointment next month?
