I made a “should this robot retire” UI from my apartment photos
Wanted to see if my robot vacuum was actually getting worse or if I was just being dramatic, so I made a dumb little dashboard from apartment photos. It is not pretty in the cool Pokémon way, more like a landlord inspection folder with feelings. Each room has a tiny status: gets stuck here, misses edges here, eats cords here, battery dies before this zone, mop pad smells if I forget, filter probably crying. The funny part is the dashboard made the answer less obvious. I thought I wanted to upgrade or replace because new robots look way smarter, but the real issue was three bad chair legs, one rug fringe, and me not cleaning the roller enough. After fixing those, it went from “useless idiot” to “annoying but employed.”
My current rule is repair if the failures are predictable, replace if the failures are random. Predictable means I can automate around it. Random means I’m now the assistant to the assistant, which is where I draw the line. Anyone else track robot failures like this, or do normal people just wait until it dies under the couch and call it?
Longtime lurker of this sub. Today I’m a frugal robot vacuum realist!!
I used to think buying a robot vacuum was the opposite of frugal. Like, congratulations, you spent money so a hockey puck can get stuck under your dresser. But after living with one for a while, my opinion is annoyingly less simple. The frugal part is not “buy robot, never clean again.” That is nonsense. The frugal part is whether it keeps small daily messes from becoming bigger, more expensive, more disgusting problems. I do not maintain it perfectly. I forget the filter sometimes. I clean the roller later than I should. The side brush has looked emotionally defeated more than once. And yes, when the filter is packed with dust, suction drops and it stops pulling fine stuff out of rugs as well.
That matters, especially if you care about breathing and not kicking dust back into the room every time it runs. I also learned the mop function is not a replacement for real floor cleaning. If the pad is dirty or the water system is gross, you are basically giving bacteria a free tour of the kitchen. So my rule now is cheap and boring: robot vacuum for prevention, real vacuum for deep carpet, real mop for sticky or questionable messes, filter check on trash day, hair cutting from the roller when I watch TV.
"i will not promote"Everyone is using AI, why don’t companies feel dramatically more productive yet?
Many employees now use AI tools to write faster, summarize faster, research faster, and generate ideas faster.
But at the company level, the productivity gains often seem less obvious. Work still needs to be reviewed, approved, routed, validated, and turned into real business outcomes.
This makes me wonder whether the missing piece is not better AI models, but better systems for absorbing AI-generated work. Is the main productivity gap today organizational, rather than technical?

[Trusted Seller] Hello everyone! I am Top-Reps. Yupoo and spreadsheet updated today.
Are hands-free wearable breast pumps actually worth it? Which brand is best? (going back to work at 10 weeks)
I'm deciding whether to get a hands-free wearable breast pump and would genuinely love honest experiences.
I'm 32 weeks and going back to work at 10 weeks. My insurance covers a Spectra S2 for free so I have that option. But I'm wondering if I should also get a wearable. The idea of sitting in a pumping room plugged into a wall two or three times a day already sounds exhausting before I've even had the baby.
I've been looking at Momcozy, eufy, Elvie, Willow. I've seen a lot of positive posts about the eufy ones specifically (apparently the heating feature helps with clogs?) but I honestly can't tell which reviews are genuine and which brands are just flooding Reddit with fake accounts lol. The Elvie looks nice but it's $300 which feels like a lot when I don't even know if breastfeeding is going to work out for me yet.
Things I'm actually unsure about:
- Do wearables empty as well as a regular pump or will my supply take a hit?
- Is the eufy worth the extra cost over the cheaper Momcozy options?
- Should I start with the free Spectra and add a wearable later, or try the wearable from the start?
Thanks for any honest advice! Sorry if these are basic questions, first time doing any of this
I'm so happy today :)

do robot vacuums clean edges effectively after several months of use?
When I first bought my robot vacuum, one of the main selling points was its ability to clean edges and corners, which I thought would make it perfect for all the spots my old vacuum couldn’t reach. However, after six months of use, I’ve noticed that the vacuum doesn’t clean edges as thoroughly as expected.
It often misses the corners, and I have to go over them manually. The 99% bacteria removal and 95% dust mite reduction were big selling points for me, but if the vacuum can’t even get into the edges, I’m wondering how effective it really is. I’ve heard some people say that the robot vacuums work well at first but lose their effectiveness in the long run.
Has anyone else experienced this issue? I’d love to hear from others who have been using a robot vacuum for a few months does it really clean edges and corners effectively, or is this just a feature that sounds great on paper but isn’t practical in daily use?
Does anyone else completely sacrifice their cars resale value for their dogs happiness
i love my golden to death but tbh every time we go to the lake he decides he needs to roll in the absolute grossest stagnant mud puddle he can find before jumping straight into the back seat while shaking off. I used to care so much about keeping my interior pristine but lately Ive just given up trying to vacuum the wet dirt and fur out of the carpet fibers... its honestly exhausting spending two hours every sunday with a shop vac and it makes me not want to take him out on trails which makes me feel incredibly guilty as a dog parent. I keep seeing ads for those custom fit interior protectors designed for people with pets but they all look like they either slide around constantly on the fabric or his claws will just rip right through the cheap synthetic material in a week.
kinda curious if anyone here has found a heavy duty setup that actually survives wet paws and sharp claws without looking like a literal garbage bag thrown on the floor. idk maybe I just need to accept that my car is a rolling kennel now but surely theres a way to protect the floor underneath all the chaos?
walked away over the interior protection add-ons... feeling annoyed
spent three hours negotiating a used crossover yesterday and we were finally like 500 bucks apart on the out the door price when the sales guy aggressively taps his pen and says he will throw in the premium interior weather protection to close the gap today. I asked him if there was an actual structural distinction between the flat rubber squares and the laser measured ones with the high edges and he totally lied straight to my face smirking and saying they are the exact same thing just different marketing wording.
I know for a fact the basic ones are just flat pieces of rubber that let water spill over and the upgraded ones actually have the raised lips that cover the side walls of the footwell to catch melting snow and spilled coffee. the fact that he thought I was dumb enough or desperate enough to accept flat cheap rubber as a 300 dollar value concession just pissed me off so much I grabbed my keys got up and left without saying another word.
maybe I overreacted and blew a decent deal but I absolutely hate being treated like an idiot when im about to drop massive amounts of money. was I petty for walking over this accessory argument or is it the principle of the blatant lie right at the finish line that would have made you walk too.
SORRY SPIDEY 😭🙏🙇♀️
I don't have any marking pins so I had to improvise...
BUT NOW IT LOOKS LIKE I'M DOING BLACK MAG!C WTFF 💀🙏
Anyways, finished project in next slide ;P
We talk about direction, priorities, what I should focus on. I take notes. My manager takes notes or doesn't. A month later there's a misalignment about what was agreed and neither of us can prove what was said. It's not a trust issue. It's just that verbal agreements in async remote work have no paper trail. Written follow-ups feel formal and slow but nothing else actually works. Is there a standard way people handle this?
