Just wondering about what triggers a plant, such as the Morning Glory, to grow in the way they do.

So we moved this Morning Glory a few days ago. It is now temporarily in front of our garage. It seems overnight the plant shot out tendrils seeking out the wall of the garage. There are no other branches moving in any other direction other than the garage wall.

What triggers a plant to know which direction to advance? How does the plant sense the wall?

I just found this interesting and puzzling at the same time.

TIA.

So I've got a lawn that's approximately 3.5-4 acres. I'd like to lime it this fall. Based on soil tests and calculations, it will need about 1300-1500 lbs per acre. That's a lot of 25kg bags of pelletized lime! Is there a better way? Liquid lime perhaps? TIA. NS, btw

Follow-up question to my previous post about the juvenile Barred Owls on our property.

These owls were in a nest on a nearby property but seem to have moved onto our property. Since they came from the same nest I'm assuming they are siblings? Will they stay on our property? If not, do they venture far from their original nest? Do siblings eventually stray away from each other. These two are inseparable. Always the same branch.

Cape Breton, NS, Canada. Would these be Barred owls? They have a squeaky, almost asthmatic call. There is another owl in the area with a "hoot". Would the ones in the photo be young?

Does anyone know if any homes were ever built on Aerie Way next to Ben Eoin ski hill? It seems like a nice spot and I felt when it was originally announced the place would be built up quickly but Google Earth shows empty lots. Just wondering.

We visited Sao Miguel this past spring and really enjoyed it. We want to do a month in the Azores spring 2027. What other islands could we realistically visit, while using Sao Miguel as a base? We are thinking a couple of days on additional islands during our stay. TIA.

Eastern Canada, 6b. Has anyone used Red Elderberry on their property? We have no kids or pets, so no danger there. We like to use native plants as much as possible on our property. There are Red Elderberry on another property we own and I am considering transplanting a few.

We can easily control unwanted spreading. Just interested in personal experiences. TIA

We have been rescuing wild roses from a property that is being flattened. We also rescue sickly roses from garden centers when given the opportunity. As you can see we have multi-flora in the mix. It grows real fast! Any pruning tips for those and the other roses shown?

Multi-flora is considered invasive, but we like it. Should we prune back in fall to keep it controlled? When and what to use for fertilizer? I've google searched for info but personal experience is best, IMO. TIA.

Nova Scotia. This is a new lawn, 10 months old. I have an event in September and I'd like it looking a bit greener. Will I harm it fertilizing now? If not, any suggestions on what to use? TIA!

Possibly asked before, but Que Pasa used to be made in Canada, then I saw the product of US label last time I bout them. Any alternatives? These really were our favourite!

Is there any benefit in changing my John Deere s180 blades to Gator Mulching blades, and not using the mulch plug?

We have a very large lawn and my experience with a complete mulching setup with plug is that it plugs easily.

Should I just stay with the factory blades? Any input is appreciated!

We visited mainland Portugal then flew to Sao Miguel this past May. We had no idea what the island had in store for us. We booked an Airbnb next to Jardim Antero da Quental and had what was the best vacation we've had in years.

The Santo Christo do Milagres festival occurred two days after we arrived. We had no idea what it was or that it was happening. It was such a visually incredible event but really laid back at the same time.

I could write about the natural beauty of the island and the surprises around every turn, but it would be the length of a novel.

Sao Miguel was just a great experience.

I had 4 new Yokohama Geolander A/TF GO18 LT 265/70R16 tires installed on my 2023 Tacoma recently. The tire shop filled them to 40psi. When I questioned them, they said that's the proper pressure. My door says 30psi.

I worked in a garage while in school and changed a lot of tires. While we were a mechanical shop and not a specialty tire shop, I was taught to look at the recommended psi on the door frame. It was a long time ago, but did something change or did the guy that put in my tires make a mistake? I don't believe he just put a random pressure in and faked it. All 4 tires were exactly 40psi. Some expert advice would help. Thanks.

There has been a pretty big dip in the road on the Cabot Trail, between Little River and North Shore. Anyone who drives it South to North pretty much knows to cross into the other lane to avoid it. My questions has a motorcycle ever hit that and launched the driver?

There are plenty of tourists on bikes that wouldn't be aware of it. I know the first time I hit it in my truck it was quite a shock.

A family member wants to have their wedding/reception on our property. I'm fine with this. I contacted our home insurance and we don't have coverage for this type of thing. I told the family member we need celebration/wedding insurance outside of our home insurance.

They seem to be hesitant, think I am over reacting in having the extra insurance. Am I crazy? Over reacting?
