There has been a pretty big dip in the road on the Cabot Trail, between Little River and North Shore. Anyone who drives it South to North pretty much knows to cross into the other lane to avoid it. My questions has a motorcycle ever hit that and launched the driver?

There are plenty of tourists on bikes that wouldn't be aware of it. I know the first time I hit it in my truck it was quite a shock.

A family member wants to have their wedding/reception on our property. I'm fine with this. I contacted our home insurance and we don't have coverage for this type of thing. I told the family member we need celebration/wedding insurance outside of our home insurance.

They seem to be hesitant, think I am over reacting in having the extra insurance. Am I crazy? Over reacting?

This sub helped before, so I'll keep going. Located in Nova Scotia. This is a newly hydroseeded lawn (Sept 2025).

I've added some pictures to illustrate what I'm dealing with.

The lawn is a lawn only by name. It's more of a pasture. We made the seed up with a healthy amount of clover and timothy for the deer, hare and geese. They love it. They don't seem to be doing any damage either.

Questions:

  1. I've got the time and material to overseed this coming week. I was going to cut the grass, aerate, and over seed. I know the fall would be best, but is doing it now just a complete waste of time? Would I see any potential benefit? Photo A shows the bare spots we have throughout the property.

  2. Photo B......we have 6 springs on the property. They bubble to the surface all year. The surface water around here contains a lot of iron. I was wanting to put small gardens, bushes etc on those spots. Is this plausible? Or should I just ditch them into the woods?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Anyone else have this issue with their roof rack? The paint seems to be wearing off. I have never used the roof rack. 2023 Tacoma Trail (Canadian Edition).

8 was wondering if someone can answer some questions about this snowshoe hare that hangs out in our yard. Nova Scotia, Canada.

Please look at the ears. There are lumps all over. Are they ticks? Something else? Also, the front right leg looks damaged. Is that damage tick related damage? Thanks!

I've got several bags of this fertilizer left over that we used to start a new lawn last year. Would it harm/help if I used the rest of it up on an established lawn in the next couple of weeks? Nova Scotia. TIA.

Would anyone be able to help me out with a part number for Gator mulching blades for an S180, 54" deck? I can't find it online and after multiple attempts no response from Oregon. TIA

We watched this with some friends from away recently and I didn't know how many of these words/phrases I use until they pointed them out! They didn't use any of them....what a sin.

I'm hauling a 19fd Epro trailer. It will be a long trip (2200kms). I finished the first leg yesterday. Covered 945kms, used 232.369 litres of fuel. Mileage worked out to 24.588 litres per 100kms. (9.566 MPG).

Is that mileage reasonable? These 2023 Tacoma's are not known for great gas mileage. The truck hauls the trailer easily. I use ECT Power. Shifting is seamless. Oh, I also have Sumo Springs which has made a huge difference in the sag and ride. Nothing to do with mileage, just wanted to mention the product.

Big lawn (4 acres). For grass collection should I buy a sweeper, bagger or convert the deck to a mulcher? I have a John Deere S180 lawn tractor. TIA

Harmful, helpful, or no effect? Hydroseeded last September. So far this spring it has been too wet to mow. We actually had snow last week! If I let the grass just continue to grow, will this harm it? Will it naturally go to seed and thicken the lawn?

FYI.....we used Voye for a trip to the US/Portugal last month. While the coverage was great, support was not.

We purchased the plan 4 days before our departure. As the instructions said, we were to try the 30 day plan before we entered our destination to make sure it worked. "No extra charge". The day before departure I checked the control panel (the app doesn't work for the family plan, which is less than optimal) and I saw the 30 day plan had already begun to count down. Since we were away for 30 days, we would end up short on the other end. I contacted support and was told it was an issue on their part (after I pointed out their own instructions), and they told me they fixed it.

We spent the last week of our trip on Sao Miguel, Azores. With 4 days left we jumped in the rental car and we're preparing to drive the island. No data! Voye had not reset the package. Without data, we couldn't use Google Maps, so I spent 3 hours online trying to get Voye to resolve the situation. Once again, the agent admitted it was an error on their part. He needed someone in another department to reset the package. 3 hours I waited for resolution. It was very, very frustrating.

The good.....Voye had great coverage. We were in 5 different countries and we had great coverage everywhere.

The bad.....Tech support told me the issue was resolved, but it was not. Then the second time the issue happened, it wasn't a simple fix. It took hours. Also the fact that there is an app, but it doesn't work with the family plan is ridiculous.

I hope this might help in decisions of others.

We had an incredible time in Sao Miguel last week, but I have a question...what hot springs do the locals use? We stumbled upon Centro de Interpretação Ambiental da Caldeira Velha and spent a few hours there. It was quiet and very relaxing.

Anyone here ever hiked the Tunnel das Sete Cidades? We stumbled onto it while waiting for the buffet to open. Looks cool.

We had our lawn (4 acres) hydroseeded last September. It's coming in and I realize it could take a couple of years to look *good*. Is it acceptable to oversees the first spring after hydroseed? If so, should it be aerated first? The soils is still quite loose. East Coast (Nova Scotia)
