What is the best age for Oogie Boogie Bash?

We've never been to Oogie Boogie Bash, because from the videos I've seen it looks like it seems to be more designed for teenagers and young adults, so I was waiting until my kids were a bit older. But I saw something recently that made me think my perception was wrong.

Would it be better to take kids when they're young, or wait until they're older?

Should I delay our trip due to the new rides opening?

I'm trying to find the best time to go to avoid crowds, heat, and cold in Tokyo. So I was planning to go in May 2027. But I just saw that they're opening the new Sugar Rush ride in Spring, and the new Space Mountain sometime in 2027. I'm ok with missing these, as I expect them to have crazy lines for a long time.

I could delay the trip to May 2028, but I could see Space Mountain still drawing crowds by then, especially if they open it late in 2027. Would it be better to keep it as this May and just deal with the Sugar Rush crowds?

[ALL] Theory - Time travel with the Triforce is what caused the split

We know that (almost) all time travel in the LoZ series is either a closed loop or a dynamic single timeline. Examples of this include MM, SS, TotK, and even the majority of OoT. There is only one time when time travel has resulted in a timeline split: the ending of OoT. There have been fan theories about why this happened before, but I have a new one (I think)

In WW we learn that the act of Link traveling back in time while in possession of the Triforce of Courage, causes it to split into 8 pieces. So this act was clearly significant if it was powerful enough to break apart a Triforce piece. I know that Link travelled back and forth throughout OoT while technically in possession of the Triforce piece, but it seems like only this last time was what caused the piece to break apart. It seems likely that it was because the piece was dormant before then

Other items seem to be fine travelling through time, but there is some sort of issue with travelling through time with a Triforce piece. Throughout the series history, this is the only time that something like this has happened, and it's also the only time that a timeline branch has been created. So my theory is that the act of Link travelling back in time with an active Triforce piece caused a reaction that not only split the Triforce piece, but also split the timeline.

Also, people have long speculated that the three timelines somehow were associated with the three parts of the Triforce. So maybe this act caused the timeline to split into three, not just into two. This could explain why there isn't a new timeline created every time Link is defeated. This part is harder to back up with evidence then the rest of it though.

What are your thoughts?

How common is negative reinforcement?

Whenever anyone at my company makes any sort of mistake, management freaks. We can do 99 things right and they don't say a word, but if we do one thing wrong it's the end of the world. We really try no to make any mistakes, but we're human, so it is inevitable.

Mostly the mistakes are things like incomplete test coverage. So not even like it's anything that's breaking production or anything.

Is this normal? Do we just need to suck it up? I feel on edge all the time, and I feel like the more I worry about not making any mistakes the more likely I am to make mistakes.

It doesn't help that, while the rest of the departments got raises this year, R&D was told there wasn't money in the budget for it. So with inflation, we're effectively making less money than we did last year. And by this point in the year we're really starting to feel it, so morale is low already.

What do we do?

I make $130k a year, which apparently is double the average. My wife has a disability which prevents from being able to work, but because I make so much money she would get nothing from disability payments.

In 2021 we decided it was time to stop renting and work towards buying our own place, so we moved into a home owned by family because they said they would give us a deep discount on rent so that we could save for a down payment. The plan was to save up enough to buy get a mortgage on a condo. But we have since had two kids, and a condo is no longer big enough for us. Unfortunately our relationship with the family that we're renting from has become strained, so we're looking to move soon.

We have saved about $100k so far. Around where we are townhouses and three bedroom condos start at $800k, so our monthly payment would be about $3k on a 30 year mortgage. We only have one car and it's fully paid off, and we have no other debt. But after all our bills and groceries and kid stuff, we can only afford about $2k. If we move somewhere else we will have no friends or family, and no support system for the kids.

So our choices are:

Stay and keep saving, while trying to navigate the strained family relationship

Move away somewhere cheaper, where we have no support

Move into a smaller place where we're all squished together

We don't really like any of those options. Does anyone have any better suggestions? Any advice at all would be greatly appreciated.

[All] In what order should I show my kids the games?

My kids have played BotW and TotK, and they liked them a lot, so now they want to see the rest of the franchise. I'm hoping to show them up until OoT in time for the remake, but I don't know where to start.

They're pretty interested in the overall story, so I think release order will be confusing. But if I do timeline order then that means games like TMC and FSA will be pretty far apart. Plus, which of the three timelines do you do first?

Any feedback or advice you have would be greatly appreciated.

Which coast should we do for Christmas this year?

We've been to Disneyland 3 times and Disney World once, because Disneyland is closer to us. Since my oldest starts high school next year we're planning to scale back the big week long trips though. So I'm thinking of doing one more big Christmas trip this year, since we've never done any Disney park for Christmas. After that it will just be like long weekends.

Logically I think Disney World makes more sense. We've only been once and it would be cool to see it again. Plus It is usually a longer trip, which will be harder to do in the future, whereas it will be much easier to do long weekend trips to Disneyland in the future. And if we do Disney World, we could probably do Star Wars Nite at Disneyland again the following May, which is something the kids have asked for. If we do Disneyland for Christmas though, we will not be able to do Disney World the next spring.

But on the other hand, since Disneyland is our home park, there's something I like about Disneyland being our first park for Christmas. Plus I feel like it's more magical for younger kids.

Which one do you think we should do?

What are people building that needs tokenmaxxing and multiple agents?

I see so much techbro influencer content about how people are running multiple AI agents in parallel, or using squad or whatever, to churn out thousands of lines of code per day. And burning through thousands of dollars worth of tokens every month. What are they making that needs that much code?

Personally I get a ticket for a new feature, create a plan with Claude, have it implement it, then work through the areas that it did wrong. Repeat as needed. I'm producing like maybe a couple hundred lines of code per day, if that. And I almost always run out of things to do before the end of the day. Is it just because I work for a smaller company?

Is the water park worth changing our trip for?

We were planning two days in October, hoping to go midweek because it will be less busy. But that means no water park, because it's only open on weekends. We could change it to a weekend trip, but then it will be a lot busier.

We do live near a water park that we visit a lot. It's not Lego themed though obviously. The kids are 8 and 11. And it's our first and probably only time going.

My daughter (8F) cannot play alone

Basically title. Normally either my 11 year old daughter or I will play with my 8 year old, but sometimes there are times when we are either both busy or we both need a break. Like I need to be able to make dinner and do chores and stuff sometimes.

I know you're not supposed to compare kids, but my older kid is happy to sit in her room for hours and just read or something. I don't get why the younger one needs someone with her at all times.

I've read that you're supposed to just leave them and let them learn how to play on their own, but if I do that then she just goes and tries to start a fight with her older sister. Or she starts doing something destructive or dangerous to try to get attention.

Does anyone have any advice on how to teach her to learn to play alone, without her causing a bunch of drama? I'm exhausted.

How do I come up with ideas for new features to add to the product?

I'm new to being a senior dev, and I've been told by other devs that seniors aren't just supposed to do tasks that are assigned to them, they're supposed to be coming up with ideas to improve the product on their own.

I have come up with quite a few ideas that would improve our workflows or improve the quality of the product, but those have all been shot down. I'm told the only thing we can work on is things that we can sell.

The problem is that the user base is a specific blue collar workforce, and I'm not allowed to interact with them directly. And the feedback that we've gotten from them has just been "everything is fine how it is"

So how do I invent new features that the user base will actually want to buy?

How do I keep doing this for another 25 years?

I started working after college, when I was 20. It's been 20 years now, which means I have another 25 years until retirement, at least.

I work 5 days a week, 9 to 5. Which means the majority of my life is spent working. I get two days off, then I have to go back to it again. I know this is normal, but my question is how do people do it?

Maybe it's just my job, because it's so boring. I work in software development, and it honestly feels like I'm watching paint dry all day. I know I should be happy to have a job right now with everything going on, but I feel like my brain is slowly dieing from boredom.

I look forward to vacation once or twice a year, but that lasts a week, and then I'm right back at it again for another 6 months to a year.

Am I doing something wrong? How is this the normal, accepted life?

Should we go for Star Wars Nite (again) or Christmas next time?

We go to Disneyland every other year. Last time we went for Star Wars Nite, and next time I was planning to go for Christmas for the first time.

But my kids are really into Star Wars right now and are asking to do Star Wars Nite again. If we do that though, they'll be teenagers by the time we go to Disneyland for Christmas.

Which would you do first? Can Christmas wait until they're older?

Does anyone else find their job extremely boring?

I'm a developer at a small software company with 10 YOE

I feel like my job is about as exciting as a data entry job. It's mind numbingly tedious. And it's not just because of AI, but that hasn't exactly improved things. I've felt this way for many years, over multiple companies.

Is it me? Do I have undiagnosed ADHD or something? Or have I just gotten unlucky with the kinds of places I've worked?

How do you make your job interesting? I find myself snacking or watching Netflix a lot to keep my mind occupied.

Can we make it Fires of the Rising Moons after Paint the Night?

When we're going the Paint the Night parade will be at 8:45 (we have young kids so the 10:45 will be too late). We're hoping to watch that, then run over the Galaxy's Edge to see Fire of the Rising Moons. I know we likely won't get a great spot for the fireworks, but that's ok. I'm just wondering if we can actually make it before it starts or not.

Also, if we do try, where would you suggest standing to watch the parade, so that we have the best chance of exiting afterwards and being able to head the right direction?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Where do you think California Adventure will connect to the Simba Lot?

We know that eventually Disney is going to expand into what is currently the Simba Lot. And they've said that this expansion will be part of DCA, which means there must be a way to get there from DCA. It wouldn't make a lot of sense to make DCA guests leave the park and walk through Downtown Disney to get there. So there has to be some sort of bridge over Disneyland Drive.

If that's the case, where would the bridge connect on the DCA side?

The reason I ask, is that it seems to me that the most logical place would be the gate that they're turning into an entrance to the Coco ride. Once you pass the gate, the ride will be to the left, so a bridge could be straight ahead. But the concept art clearly shows it being a Coco themed gate, so that wouldn't make much sense. Unless they decided to change the theming of the gate later.

What do you think?

Is squeezing in a half day trip before our flight a bad idea?

We'll be staying in Anaheim until Wednesday morning, but our flight home from LAX isn't until 7:30pm. I'm picking up a rental car at 8am on the Wednesday, so we could be on the road by like 8:30am. I know there will be bad traffic, but I'm thinking we could be at Universal Hollywood by around 10am? That would give us until around 3:30pm before we should probably head towards the airport, because we'll hit traffic again.

We've been before, so we don't need to see everything. Mostly just want to walk around Super Nintendo World, do the Transformers ride, and watch the Waterworld show. If there's time we could try to squeeze in a Studio Tour and/or Secret Life of Pets.

Is this a bad idea? Does anyone have any suggestions to make it better?

WDW or Disneyland for holidays next year?

We've never been to a Disney park for the holidays, so I'm starting to plan a trip for next year, since we already have our fall trip planned for this year (Tokyo).

We've only been to WDW once, but we've been to Disneyland 3 times, because it's a bit closer to us. I was planning to go to WDW for Christmas after Villains land opens, but I know that's a long way off. So it would be cool to do WDW again. Then again, I've heard that Disneyland feels a bit more storybook magical during the holidays, and it might be good to see our "home" park for the holidays.

The kids (7, 10) are starting to get into the Avengers, and I'm betting they'll be at max hype when Secret Wars comes out next December. Disneyland is opening the new Avengers ride, but I'm not sure if it'll be open by next Christmas. And even if it is, it's probably going to have really crazy lines for quite a while.

Which one would you go with?
