Yesterday around before noontime, I contacted Nerjohn of Timemedics and asked him if he could chopsuey the two datejusts that I got the other day. He replied pretty fast and I had my stuff sent over to their headquarters right away.

Much to my surprise, I got a reply from him within a couple hours saying they were almost done and that they were just soaking the bracelet in the ultrasonic cleaner and within a couple more hours my watch was back on my wrist.

Here are the stuff I had done:
- Dial swap
- Crystal swap
- Bezel swap
- Rehaut polish
- Bracelet softening
*I basically just had the parts of my VSF V1 swapped into my new ARF LOL!

This is the semi-final result! (Semi final because I’m not done with this piece just yet as I’m still on the lookout for gen parts 🙈)

Got a VSF V1 DJ41 about last month and ordered a spare oyster bracelet so I could swap em around when I feel like it. Anyone else repping the same combo?

My ARF dj has finally arrived so it’s time to make a comprehensive comparison!

For this comparison, blue dial is the VSF V1, gray is the ARF. Let’s tackle things on a per part basis.

Case shape - ARF is alot more closer to gen having the fatter lugs whose taper starts earlier therefore giving it a bit more wrist presence. The VSF V1 looks skinny and longer (which is the case because of how the angle of the taper of the lug is smaller) kind of reminds me of a frightened cat..

Dial - VSF wins by a mile here. I’m not exactly getting the striking effect of a real sunburst dial with the ARF’s gray while the VSF looks very much alive (sure our beloved factories will never ever get the true tone of the blue or the green correct but this one comes very close). Also if you look closely, tabingi yung crown logo ni ARF but tbh that’s just a QC issue which I bypassed because I WILL be using this case for my project.

Crystal - this version of the VSF is actually pretty good already— i’d say pantay eto sa deep (but the vsf v2 is way better). ARF has got that signature ARF crystal where it’s milky af 🫪 (check 2nd and 3rd to the last photos). VSF wins here by a bit of a margin

Bezel - I absolutely love the bezels on these two because of just how sharp the cuts are and I don’t get that sort of “bordered mirror” effect that you’d get from the V2’s (refer to the last photo and you’ll see what I mean… matter of fact if you have a V2, go take a look at it right now and compare it with the bezels here). The only problem though is that the bezel on the ARF is wider than the VSF V1 bringing the latter closer to the gen look.

Weight - same same

Movement - I can’t say exactly how accurate the ARF is just yet because I literally just got it tonight but it’s equipped with the latest of Dan’s Dongerz (DD3235). I will say this though— the VSF unscrews, winds, and screws back on smoother than the ARF.

Rehaut polish and engraving - I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say ARF has slightly better engraving but has the incorrect 6 font. Both are in dire need of a rehaut polish though so no winner there.

Overall/TLDR: ARF has the case that I want, VSF has everything else :3
Build updates: I’m probably gonna get the dials and xtals swapped by timemedics when I can find the time to drop by. I’ll also be prioritizing a gen smooth bezel + crystal first while I heavily contemplate if sourcing a gen dial/hands/dw set is worth it 🫪

VSF DJ V1 (Z80 Serial) with K6G bracelet vs VSF Batgirl (5R09 serial) with A9A bracelet

I’m not sure if you guys can see it through the photos as well but on the wrist, there’s quite a difference in the sheen between these two bracelets.

On the left is a K6G bracelet from a VSF DJ V1 while on the right is an A9A bracelet on the older batches of VSF GMT’s (around mid-late last year).

The K6G looks much warmer IRL and the sheen (even on the brushed side links) just looks more premium while the A9A looks kind of duller and cooler.

Have any of you guys noticed these with older reps or am I tripping?

Yes, the case shape is incorrect but damn they don’t make fluted bezels like they used to anymore on the new V2’s.
This one has a Z80 serial. Movement winds amazing — better than any of the newer DD3235’s i’ve had

Last last post I said I was gonna turn my 36 wimby into a franken… well I mf LOST that watch (pls don’t ask me how I don’t wanna relive katangahan memories).

Holding off with a bit more patience and voila a steal of a deal dropped on the sub and it was just what I was looking for— 1) it’s 41mm, 2) old serial number 😎, 3) a crisp ahh blue dial (this is gonna save me quite a bit early on but I know eventually I’ll be getting a gen dial anyway), 4) really really well priced

Mods I’m looking to do:
- gen xtal
- gen smooth bez
- rehaut polish
- case reshape
- slap on a chamfered oyster bracelet

Idk how long this is gonna take me but I’ll be sure to keep yall updated on this one
