FTC reportedly looking into whether OpenAI, Anthropic violated consumer protection laws.

Should the Indian government be investigating breaches that may have happened if any in defence and mission critical sites?

Flock Camera drones can now monitor from the sky too

As the surveillance machinery grows, we are at a point where you can't even hide from drones!!!

Your car can be followed and if Palantir has that info, you could be eliminated too. They just need to apologize for mistaken identity /AI hallucination !!!

Not that an apology helps if you are dead, but even that apology would only exist if you are in a western country.

Please read up on Flock and similar initiatives in India.

Satya Nadella has issued a shocking warning to companies using AI - impact on Indian economy and government decsion makers

Does it make sense to give up proprietary data to foreign AI models? There is a sovereignty concern when Governments, finance and defence organizations use AI.

The paradox however is that recently, Palantir of all companies, with a STELLAR data protection history :-) was crying wolf too over data concerns. I guess some tech bros feel that the other tech data pirate may get all your data!!!

Did Sonam Wanghuck make a mistake by not leaving India in his prime?

Wangchuck is someone who could have easily migrated to US and risen up in the ranks of a firm like Google, or could have been the founder of something like Perplexity!!!

But he did NOT, and instead, chose the harder path, of staying back to focus on developing Ladak and India!!!

Wangchuk created SECMOL to overhaul an education system that was failing rural Ladakhi children. In 1994, he spearheaded "Operation New Hope," a collaboration between the government and local communities that raised the 10th-grade pass rate in the region from 5% to 75%. He also designed the SECMOL alternative school campus, a completely solar-powered, off-grid facility where students learn practical, sustainable skills.

To solve the severe agricultural water shortages in Ladakh's high-altitude desert during the spring, Wangchuk invented the "Ice Stupa". These artificial cone-shaped glaciers capture and freeze winter meltwater. As temperatures rise in the spring, the stupas melt, providing crucial irrigation water for local farmers. He also designed sustainable, solar-powered military tents to help the Indian Army cope with harsh Himalayan winters.

Sonam Wangchuck deserves better, but DOES India deserve a illustrious son like Wangchuk???

I understand that our options are limited, but you CAN share this and even better, write a small piece in whatever platform you have access to. I don't think a click or a short post is too much to ask!!! If we don't stand up for him, who is dying on behalf of our NEET taking relatives, who will?

Rupee sees worst single-day fall in a month - Is foreign policy aligned with the economy?

By now, anyone with a sane mind knows that the Middle East war does not help India, due to the direct hit on oil price to the Indian economy and its impact on foreign remittances from the Middle East NRIs.

India's interest should be PEACE.

While the Indian economy continues to struggle from the impact of war, India paradoxically is closely aligned with Israel( whose relationship with PEACE is minimal, to put in lightly). There are of-course winners and losers in war.. Not having PEACE has political fallout in India too, especially around the E20 rollout.

Footnote:

India's Adani Group exports military equipment, defense technology, and aero-structures to Israel through joint ventures with Israeli firms like Elbit Systems. Additionally, the conglomerate acts as a major logistics hub for Israeli trade following its acquisition of a 70% stake in the Port of Haifa.

While the Indian economy continues to struggle from the impact of war, we are in bed with the
perpetrator. There is definitely one winner though as far as India is concerned.

BIO Conference at CA – Where is India in the fast growing biotech space?

Last week I was at BIO, the most prominent global biotech event in California, with at least 30 countries participating. Korea was there too among other countries, with their directory of 40 CUTTING EDGE start ups, in gene editing to regenerative medicine to advanced diagnostics and other innovations.

India was there too. Apart from Biocon, the 4-5 other companies were selling cost effective manpower (aka India’s scientific slave labor) and some IT services.

There were booths from atleast 4 Korean UNIVERSITIES too!! ( Not Galgotia types) Taiwan and Japan were there, with several product start ups and patents for commercialization etc.

India was there too with about 5-6 companies. Apart from Biocon, the other companies were selling cost effective manpower (aka India’s scientific slave labor) and some IT services.

P.S - While at the conference, I spilt some coffee and instinctively, I was thinking if I should blame the Mughals or the British or find some newer scape goat. Nehru came to my mind 🙂 in an instant.

The details are in his statement below about making data centers responsible for power/water is in response to the national outcry against mega data centers, driving up temperature, depleting ground water and rising electricity bills.

International Shaming - the only way to make the government accountable?

Here is an article in Economist on the India government visa website.

https://www.economist.com/asia/2026/06/28/why-cant-indias-government-build-a-decent-website

Many ministries rely on the National Informatics Centre (NIC), the government’s in-house technology arm, to develop and maintain websites. But when projects become more complex, they are frequently outsourced to private vendors.

Vendors!!! - One wonders how these vendors are selected...
