Following up on our robotics raise, here's what we're actually building
A follow-up to my last post ,since I got a lot of DMs and realized I probably should have explained what we're actually trying to do.
My cofounder and I are two engineers in Canada raising $20k CAD to build and test our first robotics product.
We're starting with residential snow clearing, an existing service that people already pay for — but the bigger idea isn't to build a robot that only clears snow.
We're working toward a modular outdoor robot that can take on different seasonal tasks by changing the end-effector: snow clearing, mowing, leaf work, etc.
Think of it as a robotics platform for outdoor work rather than a single-purpose machine.
Why us?
I'm a robotics engineer with experience in controls, navigation, SLAM, system architecture, and taking robotic systems from simulation into implementation.
My cofounder is a mechanical engineer with experience in mechanical design, manufacturing, and hardware supply chain.
So we're approaching the problem from both the robotics/software side and the physical product/manufacturing side.
What is the $20k for?
We're not raising $20k because we think that gets us to a finished company.
We want it to get us through the first real validation cycle:
Build the first prototype
Test it in real conditions
Iterate based on what breaks / what users actually want
Get the first users
Turn the early interest we've already received into actual customers
Build enough traction and evidence to approach a larger pre-seed round
We've already had people express interest in the product, including people interested in potentially pre-ordering. But we'd rather prove that interest with a working prototype and real users before making bigger claims.
We're still very early. We have designs and research, not a finished robot sitting in a warehouse.
We're looking for someone who is comfortable investing at that stage and wants to help us move quickly.
If you're interested in investing, DM me.
We're happy to share more about the product, the market, our backgrounds, the funding structure, or anything else you'd want clarity on.
We're trying to move fast, so if you're seriously interested, we're happy to have the conversation.
And one more thing 😂
I also got quite a few DMs from people who are simply interested in getting started in robotics.
I'm genuinely happy to help with resources, learning paths, projects, books, courses, whatever.
But please leave those questions in the comments 😭
I promise I'll reply. It's just much easier than answering the same question in 15 different DMs.
If you're interested in investing or potentially getting involved with what we're building, send me a DM.
2 Engineers Raising Our First Capital for a Robotics Startup
I’ll keep this short and simple.
I’m a robotics engineer in Southwestern Ontario, and I have a cofounder in Quebec. We’re currently looking to partner with someone who has access to capital and is interested in helping get a robotics startup off the ground.
We’re building something modular for an existing market. We’re looking for around $10k–$20k in initial capital, which would take us beyond a prototype and a couple of iterations.
More importantly, it would give us some much-needed fuel to actually get this thing into the hands of customers.
We’ve already had some verbal interest, but honestly, we’re not interested in collecting a bunch of “this is cool” responses. We want to build the product, put it in the field, and get our first paying customers.
We’re both technical people and we’re very hands-on. We know how to build, troubleshoot, iterate, and we’re not afraid of getting dirty and doing the work ourselves.
So I’m not really looking for someone to just write a cheque and disappear. I’m looking for the right capital and the right person to work with as we figure this out and get it moving.
If you’re interested in working with a couple of engineers who are willing to roll up their sleeves and build, send me a DM. Happy to explain what we’re building and what we’re looking for.

Searching for a Mechanical Engineering cofounder.
Hi, I’m based in Ontario and I want to launch a robot y startup and I’m loot for a cofounder with a mechanical engineering background. We can discuss ownership on a call.
Are there Hardware startup communities in London?
Hi, I’m looking to launch a startup and I’m wondering what the ecosystem is like here in London. What are the support or how do I get to meet or network with other builders. I’m looking for alternatives to tech alliance. I literally don’t wanna go anywhere where I’d be hearing about AI agents. Thanks
Looking for a Mechanical designer/Engineer to partner with
Hi I am working on a project and I am looking for a someone with Autocad experience to partner with on this project, we can do split equity when we monetize. That is all I can offer for now. If you have experience with Autocad, automation and robotics, send a dm.
Looking for Mechanical Engineering cofounder
Hi, I’m starting a robotics startup and I’m looking for cofounder that is versed in 3D CAD drawings and mechanical design to come on board. I’m a robotics engineer branching out, I’ve figure out a pain point. There are solutions in the market already. So right not I need someone that I can work with on equity basis. My DM is open
Looking for a Mechanical Designer/Engineer for a project.
I am starting out a robotics business here in London Ontario and I’m looking for someone with experience in 3D CAD drawings. I can’t pay now since we are pre PMF, but we can talk about equity. Please I’m open to recommendations if you guys know anyone. My DMs are open, if this is you and you need more details.
Help needed getting in touch with the owner of any property management company in London
Hi I am a London resident and I have been looking for a means t get in touch with any property management company in London, I am open to introductions if you do know one, thanks.
I think AI is entering the same phase computers eventually entered decades ago.
At first, the problem is:
“can we make this work?”
Eventually, the problem becomes:
“how efficiently can we run this at scale?”
From an end-user perspective, I think we also need to start thinking more about efficiency so we don’t keep pouring resources into a bottomless pit.
One of the most common complaints right now is limits.
And while LLM vendors are focused on scalability, I think the onus is also on us as users to think more about:
* efficiency
* repeated usage
* and cost management
Personally, I’ve tried:
* using internal docs/repos instead of relying on memory
* caching repeated work locally
* restarting threads more aggressively
I’m also exploring some of the ideas mentioned in DeepSeek’s recent caching paper.
Genuinely curious:
how are other people solving their limit issues right now?
