Anyway, a lot of people are under the impression that the issue primarily affects X3D CPUs because most of the failures are 9800X3Ds. However, I don't think there's any bias towards X3D with the failures. The 9800X3D sells massively more than all other SKUs combined, so it making up most of the failures is just simple math. Reddit is probably even more biased in that regard. So, let's test the theory and compare the actual rates themselves.

I wanted to expand it beyond ASRock, but I know people will complain if I do. Maybe I'll do this again on another sub depending on the results. Remember that the point is comparing failure rates, not raw numbers.

Simply put, it doesn't make sense to go about it the way they do, especially from the perspective of being against evolution. Some form of rapid evolution is the closest thing to making sense of how the world could have continued after "the flood," with the only other possibility being that the ark itself was magic and had infinite space within it. Both explanations ultimately require that God had to use magic, which means there's no need for "proof" of anything. So, why even bother? Now, obviously the Bible not mentioning this magic anywhere is a point against them, but I still feel like they're shooting themselves in the foot by trying to argue against evolution while supporting the ark story. Trying to reconcile them would still leave a ton of holes, but at least it wouldn't leave open so many easy points of attack against them. It feels like they simply view evolution itself as a threat. Slippery slope fallacy, perhaps? As in, maybe they think accepting evolution will leave the door open for people to question other things?

So, some people who have seen me might be confused because I keep insisting that PBO and EXPO aren't the cause. However, I'm actually wondering about the complete opposite. What if ASRock's BIOS is fucked and doesn't apply custom settings correctly, resulting in unexpected issues? It's a longshot, but from what I've seen lately there's a tiny chance of correlation.

I really wish the survey/megathread would continue. Would anyone want to work with me on making a new, more comprehensive survey?

EDIT: The results so far are... interesting. On one hand, you can say that this is showing a lack of correlation. on the other hand, is it really likely that about half of users tune? It's debatable, but Reddit might attract more enthusiasts than the norm.

Yep, I'll go ahead and eat crow. It seems that either Nintendo themselves or some kind of technical limitation is preventing video services from working on Switch 2. It also doesn't sound like Nintendo wants to or cares about supporting them. A major step backwards. Even the Wii supported them. That's insane. My guess it's that it's to make it harder to hack the system, which is BS. Limiting system functionality because it might possibly open a backdoor at some point is insane, especially since the system already has some of the tightest security ever.

By this I mean, price, form factor (hybrid, pure console, pure handheld), how much money you think they should be willing to lose, gimmicks, specs, how you'd handle the situation with third parties not wanting to buy proper carts, and anything else you can think of. You can even say they should just go third-party or just make a PC store.

I am going to point out one thing though: some will say that they should go back to having a separate console and handheld. I don't think that's feasible with the current costs of game development unless the library is shared. Sony is rumored to be planning exactly that, but the pricing is probably not gonna be great.

Man. Now I'm doubting Switch 2 will even hit 100M. We could be looking at a repeat of the drop from DS to 3DS, though this time mostly due to economic factors.

All of the other versions have the references, including XBox.

Curious at this point, especially since the consensus among this sub seems to be that GKCs are an intentional step towards an all-digital Switch 3 (or even Switch 2 according to some people).

Trying to decide if the foldables are worth investing in yet. Which would you say is the best (or rather, least bad) value now?

I've been having this issue for months now, and it pretty much started as soon as my warranty ran out lol. I've tried reinstalling drivers multiple times, but it hasn't helped. I'm at a bit of a loss. It's annoying to have to restart just for the speakers to work.

So, I often see people here say they don't update their BIOS because Instant Flash won't work for whatever reason. However, I managed to push it through. I'm not sure which one of these actually fixed the issue, but it's probably good to document it.

1. I made sure to suspend Bitlocker in Windows 11 before starting. I think this is less likely to be it, but just noting it.
2. When the computer restarted after attempting to load the update, I tried to re-enter the BIOS immediately, and then the update went through as soon as my BIOS opened.

So, this is a long shot, but I think it's something worth discussing. In northern winter and spring, the rate of failure decreased a lot, with some instances of zero reports for an entire week. But now, things are basically back to how they were a year ago. I think the past 48 hours have had 7-10 reported failures, which is insane. And yet, no testing environment can reproduce the issue...

So, what if there's actually an outside factor affecting them? The recent heatwaves perhaps? Maybe ASRock has been using some component that is sensitive to humidity. Sounds crazy, but it would explain why nobody can reproduce it in a test environment, so I think it should at least be investigated. I have a great AC unit that I bought around the time I got my system, and have had zero issues. I doubt it really is this, but it would explain quite a bit.

Thoughts?

Curious where it stands. I'd make another one about who failed, but I'm on vacation so I should at least see if mine is still working when I get home.

I said months ago that they'd only make the replaceable battery revisions in EU to comply with regulations and that the rest of the world wouldn't get them, but a lot of people tried to tell me that I was complaining about a good thing. Now it's official, and officially consumer-hostile, as the only reason to have two production lines like this is that they want to make sure that you have to rebuy hardware when the battery goes bad.

Especially if you're in North America, contact your representatives. These changes need to be made worldwide, and not just for Nintendo.

And this thread isn't about the capacity changes. Those are just because they needed to keep the form factors the same.

Note: I am aware of the legal ramifications that would come with lying to investors and thus believe that they aren't using it. I know people here will come up with reasons/ways they could be lying though, so I'm curious about the responses. I'm also not counting stuff like localization simply due to lack of poll options and no way to make the poll allow multiple choices.

Seriously! This stuff only makes sense for live service games. For these challenges it just sucks.

Unrelated, but they also should include ALL NS2Es in the NSO EP, not just Zelda. Doubly so since they're so slow with releasing classics.

Long story short, I've been having frequent issues with the connection cutting out. I've replaced all equipment, and while my Internet is much faster when it works, it's still unstable. I just found out that the rain cover for the cable connection between the outside line (black) and the line going inside to my modem (white) was broken at some point. I'm wondering if that could mean there's been some weathering affecting the connection. Is that possible, even if there's not visible rust? If so, is the only/best option to ask Optimum to come replace it?
