When do you expect Switch 2 GKCs to become unusable?

Curious at this point, especially since the consensus among this sub seems to be that GKCs are an intentional step towards an all-digital Switch 3 (or even Switch 2 according to some people).

Well, since OnePlus has given me the middle finger, it's time to move on. I'm considering a foldable...

Trying to decide if the foldables are worth investing in yet. Which would you say is the best (or rather, least bad) value now?

Asus Zenbook S16 2024 speakers stop working after sleep

I've been having this issue for months now, and it pretty much started as soon as my warranty ran out lol. I've tried reinstalling drivers multiple times, but it hasn't helped. I'm at a bit of a loss. It's annoying to have to restart just for the speakers to work.

Finally had the issue where Instant Flash didn't work. I fixed it pretty quickly though

So, I often see people here say they don't update their BIOS because Instant Flash won't work for whatever reason. However, I managed to push it through. I'm not sure which one of these actually fixed the issue, but it's probably good to document it.

  1. I made sure to suspend Bitlocker in Windows 11 before starting. I think this is less likely to be it, but just noting it.
  2. When the computer restarted after attempting to load the update, I tried to re-enter the BIOS immediately, and then the update went through as soon as my BIOS opened.

ASRock AM5 users past and present, what is your ambient environment like?

So, this is a long shot, but I think it's something worth discussing. In northern winter and spring, the rate of failure decreased a lot, with some instances of zero reports for an entire week. But now, things are basically back to how they were a year ago. I think the past 48 hours have had 7-10 reported failures, which is insane. And yet, no testing environment can reproduce the issue...

So, what if there's actually an outside factor affecting them? The recent heatwaves perhaps? Maybe ASRock has been using some component that is sensitive to humidity. Sounds crazy, but it would explain why nobody can reproduce it in a test environment, so I think it should at least be investigated. I have a great AC unit that I bought around the time I got my system, and have had zero issues. I doubt it really is this, but it would explain quite a bit.

Thoughts?

Welp, just had 3 in one day. At this point, I can't really blame some for thinking it's just a degradation issue that will kill every AM5 CPU on ASRock. Your opinion?

Curious where it stands. I'd make another one about who failed, but I'm on vacation so I should at least see if mine is still working when I get home.

I hate to say I told you so...

I said months ago that they'd only make the replaceable battery revisions in EU to comply with regulations and that the rest of the world wouldn't get them, but a lot of people tried to tell me that I was complaining about a good thing. Now it's official, and officially consumer-hostile, as the only reason to have two production lines like this is that they want to make sure that you have to rebuy hardware when the battery goes bad.

https://www.nintendo.com/en-gb/Support/Nintendo-Switch-2/Information-about-upcoming-battery-related-revisions-to-some-Nintendo-products-3132901.html?utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter&utm_campaign=Nintendo|NULL|EUBatteryRegulationsAN|m_id_bL8LZMuzbM|3132901

Especially if you're in North America, contact your representatives. These changes need to be made worldwide, and not just for Nintendo.

And this thread isn't about the capacity changes. Those are just because they needed to keep the form factors the same.

Nintendo responded to an investor about Gen AI use. Somewhat denying, somewhat dodging. What do you think?

Note: I am aware of the legal ramifications that would come with lying to investors and thus believe that they aren't using it. I know people here will come up with reasons/ways they could be lying though, so I'm curious about the responses. I'm also not counting stuff like localization simply due to lack of poll options and no way to make the poll allow multiple choices.

Q13 With developments such as the establishment of AI-related laws in the EU, how does Nintendo view and respond to the use of generative AI trained without permission from rights holders, and to the risk of intellectual property infringement caused by generative AI?

A13 Furukawa: We are aware that with the rapid evolution of AI technology, countries and regions are moving forward with the establishment of laws and regulations related to AI. Nintendo will comply with these laws and regulations, and we intend to appropriately protect our intellectual property in accordance with the law. In the game industry, technologies similar to AI have long been used, for example for the movement of opposing characters, so game development and AI technology have always had areas of close connection. These days, generative AI can be used for even more creative purposes, but we recognize that it also presents issues in areas such as intellectual property rights and power consumption. Regardless of whether generative AI is used, if Nintendo determines that something infringes on Nintendo IP, our policy is to respond appropriately, and we have no plans to change this policy. Nintendo IP did not originate as standalone characters. It was created and nurtured in connection with the unique forms of play that Nintendo has developed. We will maintain our strengths by continuing to create unique forms of play.

Nintendo needs to cut the limited time BS.

Seriously! This stuff only makes sense for live service games. For these challenges it just sucks.

Unrelated, but they also should include ALL NS2Es in the NSO EP, not just Zelda. Doubly so since they're so slow with releasing classics.

I think I found the source of my Internet issues, and I'm not sure what to do...

Long story short, I've been having frequent issues with the connection cutting out. I've replaced all equipment, and while my Internet is much faster when it works, it's still unstable. I just found out that the rain cover for the cable connection between the outside line (black) and the line going inside to my modem (white) was broken at some point. I'm wondering if that could mean there's been some weathering affecting the connection. Is that possible, even if there's not visible rust? If so, is the only/best option to ask Optimum to come replace it?

Replaced modem; how to turn off the router portion or enable bridge mode?

Title. My router is working at least, but I want to prevent future issues.

Update to my connection/signal quality/modem issues

So, I decided to check my current modem and realized that it is, in fact, still only DOCSIS 3.0. I feel like that combined with the age juuuuuust might be part of the issue lol. So, I guess the priority should be replacing it. Pros and cons of getting one from Optimum vs ARRIS SURFboard S33?

Modem recommendation (coax)

My modem is like 8+ years old and I'm starting to upstream and downstream power creep in the wrong direction. It also randomly cut out today. What's recommended these days? I already have a router. Also would like to get the newest possible before Orange Epstein Man ban goes into effect.

I can't work out how to use VRM Posing Desktop with VNyan. Any advice?

I've been trying for a couple of hours but just putting the port number in doesn't seem to do anything. I'm sure I'm just missing something, but I'm not sure what. Do I need to install some kind of plugin? Should I try other software?

I ran this poll a while back, but it seems like the time to failure has been increasing steadily. I'm curious about this, so I'm running this one more time to see if the results really have changed. Unfortunately 6 options limits what I can put here, but I'm curious either way. Please don't complain about the options. I'm just working with what I have.
