Framed Vietnamese made silk embroidery

Guessing it’s a traditional art in Vietnam. The embroidery of flowers an two praying mantises shows the subject on both sides and is sandwiched he’s between two panes of glass set in a carved wood stand. Has a cert with it as well.

Lost my job, I can likely qualify for Medicaid but wondering if it will have bad implications at tax time

So I lost my main job this week. I do have a second little 1099 side hustle that’s good for about $400 a month which is only a little over half my mortgage cost and I have some savings I can dip into. My ACA premium ended up being my second highest monthly bill because I estimated my income higher and because of Trump screwing those of us that use the program.

My question is can I switch to Medicaid halfway through the without having to worry about paying back the subsidy? I’m applying for Medicaid today but obviously won’t have an approval decision before my premium is due on July 1st, so I will probably have to pay my July premium. It would hurt financially to have to keep paying this inflated amount for the premium till the end of the year when I’m no longer making anywhere near that but I don’t want to create an even bigger financial headache come tax time. Any insight appreciated thanks 🙏

Lost my job and my current ACA plan is my second highest bill in a month. I’d like to drop it and get on Medicaid.

I’m in Michigan and plan on applying tmro but with only 6 days left in the month will I still have to pay for next months premium because there isn’t enough time to apply, get approved and cancel my ACA plan so I won’t have to pay back my subsidy for next month? Is there any reason I’d have to pay back the subsidy from January through June? Because I really can’t afford that.

Other pertinent info, I have another little 1099 job but it only brings in around $400 a month. Can I be earning too little money to even qualify for Medicaid? Hoping unemployment will go through but betting my former employer will fight it so it’s a crap shoot. I’m also listing stuff to sell on eBay to bring in some more money. I’m a bit worried as I don’t have a lot in savings, I had been earning ok money but opened a Roth IRA and was socking money into it to the tune of $12k, really wish I still had the grand I put into it a couple weeks ago but I should be able to afford life for the next 2-3 months without a problem but really hoping the unemployment goes through.

Are these exhaust hangers supposed to have so much play in them?

Was underneath tracking down the source of some heat shield rattling but noticed these exhaust hangers allow the exhaust quite a lot of movement. Only worried because I had a new cat put in less than a year but did a chop out and weld in for the new cat so just wondering if the movement would be putting undo stress on those welds.

Obscure question for MI resident - can Medicaid take my house years after I was last on it?

For context I am 49. I have been on Medicaid twice in my life for 2 years each time. So from ages 39 and 40 and then from 45 to 46 I had Medicaid for healthcare. My house is my biggest asset, bought for a very cheap price in 2012. There’s less than 10 years left to pay on it, I may or may not pay it off early. My 2.5% interest rate means the interest is only $700ish a year. I have no kids but when I do get around to setting up a will or estate my nephew will likely be my heir.

My question is for those 2 short stints on Medicaid would they try to recoup costs by seizing assets? I was young and healthy while I was on it but did use it some (a colonoscopy, a biopsy of thyroid nodules, routine physicals, a few office GP visits and some therapy plus getting dx with ADHD to get on medication). Im trying to think ahead of how I can I protect my assets for my nephew now while I’m young so I can be well ahead of the 5 year look back period. Of course a lawyer will be consulted to set this up I’m just looking for info at this point for scenarios and can research myself. Thanks all

Did my sway bar bushings, what was just a headache is turning into a debacle

The headache was from the the one bolt not wanting to screw back into the hole. Ended up borrowing the right size tap to ream the threads in that hole and boom got it back together. That night while driving I heard a loud donk then metal clinking on metal. Got under it today and just felt with my hands but the hook on the end of the bushing bracket has either sheared off (was very rusty but cleaned up well enough with a wire wheel) or worst case the slot the hook fits into is too compromised itself and the hook won’t stay in there because of it.

I have new brackets ordered but they won’t be here till Wednesday. After I get done with dinner I was going to undo the bracket bolt and see if I can get a better look at how compromised that slot is or possibly just slip the hook back on and tighten it down again.

My question is do I really need to detach the sway bar links at all to do this? Could I get away with just undoing it on the one side while supporting the control arm with a bottle jack to get the bracket back on?

Got a stand of mulberry trees that I’m cutting down and could use some advice for possibly using some to make a bow or two

I have several fence growing mulberry trees but this middle stand needs to go since it will be shading the spot I want to put my garden beds in. I heard mulberry was decent to use for bows so I’m asking for some advice on what I should do to prep these for stave use. Can I make the bows from green wood? If using greenwood would I bend them over a form to put some curve in it? Or should I cut the trunks and seal the ends to dry slower?

I figure only two of them are going to be a big enough size (diameter) to use for a bow and I can prob get two or three staves from each trunk but thought it might be best to make the first one out of the second biggest as a practice or first attempt and save the largest for a second or third attempt after finding out what works best.

Literally any advice appreciated including personal experience or links to video of other bows being made out of mulberry. Thank you 🙏

Found my childhood marbles and hit them with the UV flashlight

A few of them fluoresced, just wondering what exactly I have here? The transparent red ones had a glowing orange swirl in them, the middle ones had larger glowing orange segments and the bottom one had the usual green glow of uranium glass but in the white opaque glass. I hadn’t seen uranium milk glass before, if that what it is? I had a bunch of other marbles with white glass but this was the only one that glowed green. Any info appreciated thanks 🙏

What can I do with these heavy machine gears?

Got these from a salvage job at a bowling alley. Was there to get lane pieces but the back room had a bunch of machine parts I grabbed too. Really heavy gears and some other pieces with the gear teeth inside the holes.

Finally got something to share! Trash picked a sewing machine!

I forgot to take a photo of the actual one as my mom said she’d take it to her friend that sews to look at. But the sold listings for this Husqvarna Sapphire 835 are upwards of $500-600. To be precise this was trash picked in my friends neighborhood (not a dumpster but figured it would still count lol). Mom’s friend oiled it and fired it up and is now hinting around at wanting to purchase it. A few houses down from this I also got a couple of pieces of tempered glass I may upcycle into some furniture.

These are quite shot and in need of replacement and I’ve watched a few tutorials and am kinda of dreading this. Most of those tutorials had the person burning the old bushings out which hopefully won’t be too difficult considering these are already half rotted out. I thought maybe the clank I was hearing was just the rear coil springs but I think that’s unlikely to be the main or only culprit. I have some springs I ordered off Amazon with new insulators and spring seats. All the reviews for those said they will work but new car will ride higher and need a 4 wheel alignment which also likely to be needed if I do the bushings so it’s prob best to do this all at once.

First 2 pics show the shot bushings, third one is the kit I can get from auto zone which also looks like the same one used in one of the tutorials and the last photo is a set of pinch bolts I had ordered for the shocks last fall that weren’t for that (way too large) and rather than return I was told to just keep them. They look like they might be the bolts for the bushings (about 5 1/2 inches long). The thing I’m most worried about are the rusty bolts holding the sub frame on and getting the races out once the sub frame is off. Also worried about having to do the brake bleeding again which I already paid for once last fall and would like to avoid by capping the brake line connections and trying to do it myself (last fall I had a neighbor pump the brakes but the air had prob travelled too far up since no bubbles were coming out and he didn’t know what my brakes felt like)

Anyhoo this is all very long and I feel like I’m signing myself up for a massive headache so who’s done this? Did you hate yourself for doing it? Anyone had it done by a shop and what did it cost? The ones near me seem hell bent on emptying my pockets and I’ve put a lot of money into this thing in the last year and I’m starting to regret not just buying something else but with 239k on it no one is going to pay much for this even with all the new parts it has.

I replaced the water outlet housing yesterday which had been leaking for a long time already. Looking into the engine bay below that I could see a lot of old antifreeze down there so today I took an almost empty bottle of dawn and filled it up with water to dilute the soap down, then sprayed it down onto the old antifreeze and then immediately used a power washer (well above the spot so not high pressure up close on the area) just to hose out all the old grime and soap. Now that I’ve been driving at work all night third gear is really having an issue getting into gear. It wasn’t having this issue at all before so I googled and it’s says I may have washed away the lubrication on the cables for the gears and suggested white lithium grease to relubricate them. My question is where exactly do I spray that? Pic to show the cables
