A bird sculpture I made in creative therapy

My aim was to create a sculpture that reflects the way I dream to feel, which is peaceful, free and determined to find purpose. I also included some pictures from when I just finished sculpting, before drying.

The tip of one of the wings broke off during the drying process. My therapist said it would be better to fire the broken off tip separately, so I could reattach it after the biscuit firing with a special paste they have (biscuit glue? I'm not sure if that's the word), so that's what we did. It took a lot of my patience to reattach the piece in a way that it would stay and not break off again, but it was worth it. We then fired it a second time to secure the piece. After that I painted it with a glaze called "oil slick", which was a powder I had to mix with water.

It came out of the kiln after the glaze firing this morning and when my therapist gave it to me, it was still warm. You can still subtly see the break on the wing, which I'm actually kind of loving because of the symbolism. I got a bit emotional seeing it finished after working on it for so long. I'm so proud of it, so I wanted to share it here.

Clay is such a transformative material, with having to go through all of the different stages and then at the end not fully knowing how a glaze will turn out. It's exciting. It was my fourth time working with clay and it has become my favorite material to work with in therapy.

Little felt kitty hook

I almost regret not taking her with me, but I would not have been able to put her onto my wall in my in a usable way in my living space. So I decided to leave her for somebody who can. She was €1.80 at my local thrift store. I hope someone else took her in, because she's precious and charming. Sadly, I only found two kitties on this trip. Bonus picture of the other kitty I found.

Over a year relapse-free but suddenly struggling

Over a year ago, I managed to quit drinking and relapsing into my bulimia at the same time. It was hell, but I did it. I still don't know where I found the strength for it. I haven't relapsed since, but recently, seeing triggering pictures and videos of emaciated celebrities (one in particular) on all of my feeds has been fucking with my head so much.

I've stepped on a scale every day for the last week without thinking clearly, saw I gained and felt bad instead of the neutral I'd almost gotten used to. Today, I felt full after eating and a disordered thought snuck in and everything in me wanted to go along with it. I haven't felt like this in months, but suddenly I'm actively fighting for my sanity again.

I don't want to fall back into this pit. I don't know what to do. I don't see my psychiatrist until Tuesday and I need to find a way to hold on until then. Hoping to find some support here on how to get through this. I'm just so sorry to myself for letting this sneak up on me.

Got the chance to try soapstone carving in creative therapy!

First picture is the finished result, the other two are pictures I took during the process. Such a lovely material to work with. I just wanted to sculpt a peaceful face. Started it in therapy a couple days back, and it was so much fun that I wanted to take her home to work on her some more. Wanted to share because I'm proud of her!

I cleaned my two trauma related hoarder rooms in two days

I don't have pictures, because I was too ashamed, but I just wanted to tell someone who would understand that I made it through and I did it. Two years I procrastinated. Thirteen hours total I cleaned and tidied. I'm a wreck, but it's done.

I became an alcoholic when my father was suddenly diagnosed with melanoma and died five weeks later. Let one room get completely out of hand, shut the door behind me and never went in again, moved to a different room and the same happened there.

I'm now just over a year sober and going into the first room I ruined to collect all of the bottles, was devastating. I'm just so sorry for everything.

Hoping this will help with healing in the long run, but now I am just tired, emotional and hurting.

Edit: trauma not just from my dad passing, but also from an abusive, harmful relationship and the aftermath. I'm also just over one year in recovery from bulimia.
