Did I break ToS? Account Closed (Submitted Appeal) Shortly after ACH transfer.

Hello /r/transferwiser,

I'm a fairly new user of wise, and just had my account closed shortly after submitting a ACH transfer of ~$35,000 (not exactly that amount but close to it). The funds were directed to a vehicle broker/exporter in Japan to purchase and export a vehicle to me (just moved to Kenya). Transfer was in USD with no currency conversion.

After I got notice of my account being closed, I was scratching my head and took a longer read through the ToS and acceptable use policy. As far as I can tell, my usage of Wise conforms completely with the use. This isn't a business expense as the vehicle is for personal use, and definitely fits into the category of "goods and services".

Annoyingly, part of the appeal process didn't ask for an invoice, which I would have been more than happy to provide (and AFAIK I have no way of submitting)!

Did I do something wrong or inappropriate here? I won't ask anyone to speculate on why this transaction was flagged, but given the above information, is there any indication I broke the terms of service? If anyone knows how I could attach/send an invoice to help expedite the appeals process that would be helpful too!

Any input would be appreciated!

EDIT: My appeal has said they will keep my account closed. I submitted a complaint (thanks for the link automod) and finally got the option to include supporting documentation, where I included the invoices for the vehicle I was paying...

EDIT2: I have to say, some posters here are quite hostile. Despite posting relevant details, I'm still being accused of falsifying my identity (without explanation as to how I did this?) or trying to mislead wise... not sure how I could be attempting to mislead wise, the web forms they have are pretty limited, and and drop down menus aren't that granular, ...it's pretty basic stuff. Treating people here as if they've committed a crime because "computer says no" is certainly a way to go about your lives!

Inexpensive non-Android DAP with bluetooth and good audiobook support for kids?

Hello /r/DigitalAudioPlayer,

I'm trying to find a suitable device for each of my kids that is

  1. Inexpensive (kids will likely break it)
  2. Has decent battery life
  3. Has bluetooth support
  4. Has great audiobook support
  5. Is not an Android based device (don't want my kids installing games)

Things I'm not too concerned about.

  1. Audio Quality
  2. High Quality Build (let's be real, my kids are likely going to break this device)
  3. No problem buying older/used devices

I would look at some of the older Sony Walkman mp3 players (I love my NW-A55), but they don't have m4b support.

Considerations:

Hiby R1 Innioasis Y1 with RockBox

Any other suggestions?

No more 12-credit plan for $85.99 in the US?

Seeing references to the annual 12-credit for $85.99 deal, I started up support chat and asked about it, and got this response:

> Thanks for allowing me to check this for you, MYNAME. Upon checking, our Premium 12-credit plan deal for only $85.99 has already ended earlier this year. Just to help you maximize your membership, we do have a few options available that might work better for you.

This is a bummer!

EDIT: Chat is confused you all...

> Hello, MYNAME. Upon checking, I've got a special deal I can offer.

> It appears we have a similar plan to what you saw on the website.

> It offers the same great benefits the earlier plan you mentioned. 12 credits upfront, access to the Plus Catalog, podcasts, and Audible Originals, along with the option to return titles if they're not what you expected.

> The plan is Audible Premium Discounted 12-credits plan for $85.99 USD per 1 year, plus applicable tax.

tl;dr they do offer the plan...

Importing A Land Cruiser from Japan (to Kenya) - So Many Options!

Hello /r/LandCruisers,

My family and I are about to move to Kenya. For reasons not particularly relevant, we will likely be importing a Land Cruiser from Japan. Never having had one, there are sooooo many options in terms of trims/engines, I'm finding it overwhelming! I'm really hoping this community can help me narrow down what I should be looking for!

Kenya does not allow you to import vehicles older than 7 years, so that pretty much means us buying 2020+ vehicles.

As we have kids, and will be having visitors, getting a 7-seater configuration is more or less a requirement. Hoping we can import a car for < $35,000.

From searching the wikipedia pages, that leaves the following years/models.

  • 2020 - J200
    • 1UR-FE V8 engine
  • 2021+ - J300
    • F33A-FTV V6
    • V35A-FTS V6
    • 1GR-FE V6
  • 2020-2022 - J150 Prado
    • 2TR-FE - Both TX and TX L trims
    • 1GD-FTV - TZ-G and TX L
  • 2023+ - J250 Prado
    • 2TR-FE - VX trim
    • 1GD-FTV - GX and ZX trim

There also looks ot be a J70 "heavy duty" variant available but a quick search on the auction/export sites don't show many of those for sale so I'm disregarding those.

Also, any other guidance for things I should look for (or look to avoid) would be very much appreciated!

Most responsive device with USB-C?

Hello /r/rockbox,

I did a quick search for this, but couldn't find anything definitive. I'm trying to pick a device to use rockbox with that has both USB-C, great battery life, and is very responsive.

Doing some searching, I can get a short list of devices with USB-C, but I can't figure out which devices are more responsive to user input (lag/delays with user input is one of my pet peeves when using handheld purpose specific devices).

Any input would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

What's going on with all the "positive" posts about Novak Djokovic?

Added some URLs as a sampling, but my front page, despite not being subscribed to any tennis related subreddits seem to be full of Novak Djokovic PR positive press push.

I don't follow tennis, which is why I'm confused at the number of posts about him on my timeline. Is he about to undergo some kind of hall of fame process, or needing the public to forget his anti-vaccine stance?

Anyway linking to some of the posts about him recently, but there are a ton more.

Update: Maintaining a relationship with elderly non-BPD parent and excluding the BPD one?

Update to a post I made a month ago here:

https://www.reddit.com/r/raisedbyborderlines/comments/1snn2s2/maintaining_a_relationship_with_elderly_nonbpd/

tl;dr, I'm in my 40s, with two kids, evacuated from the middle east due to the war and we were invited to stay w/ my eDad and uBPD step-parent. uBPD step-parent had an episode targeting my son, I immediately removed myself and my kids from their home and moved us to a hotel, I asked about how to retain a relationship with my eDad and excluding the uBPD step-parent.

Many of the comments said to lower my expectations... and ...I knew I should set my expectations low but yet I am still disappointed.

After that episode, I sent my dad a message saying that my kids cannot be around his wife moving forward. I knew I was making things difficult for him, but he will have to figure it out.

After some more non-sense from my uBPD step-parent, eventually I do get a brief face to face time w/ my eDad, only for him to get in his car and drive away before we could even discuss what had happened. Today, I invited him to come out with us, and he casually slipped the "we can come..." to which I said absolutely not. He then went on to say he won't do things apart from his wife, and he said my son had some responsibility for my uBPD step-parents ...episode.

I reminded him, that his wife is an adult, and my son is a kid, and the kid is not responsible for the actions of an adult.... and now I'm finally starting to accept that the enabling parent behavior is also abusive...

I had always assumed when my eDad was silent during his wife's outbursts that he was just weathering the storm, never did I imagine that he actually agreed in her logic...

Anyway, kids and I are doing well, I'm reassuring my son he is in no way shape or form responsible (kids are very ego-centric, they think their actions have a large influence of the world around them, so he blames himself partly regardless of my reassurance)... I suppose I feel better knowing I no longer need to put in the energy and effort to try and have my dad have a relationship w/ my kids independent of his wife, as that won't happen...

Hello /r/AskTeachers,

My family is a foreign service family currently posted in the middle east. Due to the war, my kids (elementary school ages) have been evacuated to the United States and have been attending a local public school. The transition for our kids was both rapid and drastic, and goes without saying the curriculum they are in now is very different from they were in before.

Both of my kids teachers have done a wonderful job making my kids feel at ease, and included in the classroom despite them joining ~3/4 of the way through the school year. My kids were in a very vulnerable place in the lives, and are missing their mother who is still in the middle east, but regardless my kids are thriving!

We will be remaining here until the end of the school year, and I feel like just a nice email detailing my appreciation is not sufficient to show my gratitude, and would welcome suggestions from this group on what else I can do (message the principal? a target gift card? some kind of gift from the the country we came from?).

Thanks!
