I just wanted to make this post cuz I've seen so many ppl being obnoxious about kai 2 "taking too long" without understanding the reason or situation that Falcom is currently in.
Falcom is a small studio with only around 70 employees working on different titles simultaneously while also releasing multiple games a year, and also releasing almost every mainline trails game annually.
Even though they reuse most of the assets, writing a new and fullfilling 100h jrpg in only a year or two is pretty much impossible, hence why they have to resort to lots of "fillers" and "padding" in some of the new titles such as DB2 and Horizon to provide a "long experience" without moving the story too far and instead give players more slice of life kinda stuff.
Personally i don't think it's healthy for the devs or good for the future of the series if they keep rushing the games like this just to please annoying fans.
I think after lots of criticism of DB2 and also burn out within the studio, the company have decided to take a new and much better approach for the series. To focus on releasing other titles and remakes annually (to reach quota) while hopefully taking more time to work on mainline trails games to provide a better experience for everyone.
I genuinely don't understand why people are so impatient. I think the series needed this for a long time and I'm happy that they're taking a long time working on kai 2, and i hope they stick with this approach until the finale.
Who are your top 4 favourite characters of each arc in the Trails series? (only characters who joins the party, including temporary guests).
Mine are.
Sky arc: Estelle, Olivier, Renne and Kevin.
Crossbell arc: Lloyd, Randy, Tio and Wazy.
Cold Steel arc: Rean, Fie, Crow and Sara.
Calvard arc: Van, Elaine, Agnes and Aaron.
First time experiencing this game and ofc I had to pull out the old PS2 for this.
Only about 6h in and i just reached the town of Alexandria, having a blast so far and I can definitely see myself getting addicted lol.
Just wanted to post some pics of my journey so far cuz this game is too dang gorgeous.
Playing on original hardware with the GBS-C and component cables connected to my 4K TV. It's not as sharp as emulation but at least it looks authentic lol.

After about 60h i finally beat the game, including all side-quests, npc dialogues, epilogue and after story chapters too.
This game feels like the underdog of Falcom titles, ppl don't talk about it much and reviews are kinda mixed with some calling it a "bad persona knock off".
As a fan of Falcom I've been holding off from this game for a while, but with the reveal of Kyoto Xanadu I decided to finally give it a shot, and maaan this game is underrated.
Sure it's not their best game, but overall it's a very solid experience. To me what stood out the most was the story, world, characters and even npcs. Yes it's obviously inspired by Persona, but it has that unique falcom "charm" that just hits the spot for me.
Honestly my only major problem with this game are the "labyrinth" dungeons. Combat and gameplay is fun but the labyrinths feel a bit too repetitive imo as they all kinda feel the same. And the pacing can be a bit too slow at times. But overall, very solid game and the pros outweigh the cons.
If you're into Trails or Persona you should 100% give this a shot. It's not just a cheap "clone", but it has it's own vibe and atmosphere with an incredible cast of characters and overall setting.
I think the steam sale is almost over, but if this sounds like your type of game definitely check it out now as it's 40% off (not sponsored btw lol).
Anyway, sorry for my long yapping i just think this game deserves some more attention lol.

I recently set up my old PS2 and bought a few games from an online retro store including DQVIII.
I've always wanted to play this game, and right now I'm in the mood for a fun, chill and engaging rpg.
The only DQ game I've ever played before was DQXI, and I absolutely loved it.
My question is, how's the difficulty of this game?. I know it's probably harder than XI, but is it like outdated and tedious, or is it more "moderate" and tolerable?.
Also, what are your advice for a first time player?.
When i was younger I almost never finished any games because I would purchase new games and start playing multiple different titles simultaneously due to excitment (and probably my adhd lol). I ended up just sticking to one game i enjoyed the most and beating it in the end, while abondening the other ones.
I wanted to fix this by only playing one game at a time instead of like 4+, it kinda helped me not getting overwhelmed for while, but instead it made me constanly burned out playing only one single game without variety until i beat it (especially for jrpgs). It just felt less "enjoyable" sometimes because I'd just want my "current" game to be over so i can move on to the next one that I've been hyped for.
My question is, how do y'all handle this?. do you take breaks to play other games to avoid burnout, or do you have like a "side game" or something?.
With the announcment of the new Xenoblade protagonist being female, It's the first time we get a female protag in the mainline Xenoblade games (aside from Torna DLC).
The character was supposedly designed by Mai Yoneyama, a female freelance artist which might explain why her design is more realistic and "respectable" instead of being sexualized.
My questions for female jrpg fans are, do you prefer female protags over male, do you find them more relatable like we guys find male characters relatable, and finally what is your expectation of how a female protag should "act" (like her personality), do you want her to be brave and determined or maybe more "shy" and sympathetic?.
Personally I think the new xenoblade protagonist looks cool, she seems to have a calm and composed vibe in general.
But yeah just curious what female jrpg fans feel about this.
I'm born 1998, does that technically make me a "baby boomerzillian amphibian of ancient egypt"?,
cuz it's like 2 years before 2000s so we ain't the same as other zoomers.
Any fellow 80s and 90s kids who agree with me??.
Started playing on my PS2 again with the GBS-C and component cables on my 4K TV, initially i wasn't sure about the image quality, but as I've tried different games I think it looks great.
Y'all have any suggestions of what settings or resolution i should use, I'm currently just using the default settings by Mr, Ao.
Edit: this picture doesn't really do it justice tbh, looks more vibrant and less bright on my actual TV display.
Recently I purchased a GBS-C and cheap component cables (bitfunx from Aliexpress for like $10) for my PS2 so i can play on my 4K TV.
I tried playing some games and I'm a little dissapointed with the image quality, not sure If it's because I'm using cheap component cables or maybe that's just how it's supposed to look, but i feel like games look better on my friends CRT TV.
I read online that the HD retrovision is the best cable for the PS2 if I want perfect image quality, but it's like $100 if I want to ship it to my country.
Is the HD retrovision TRULY worth it, should i buy it for $100 or should i just stick to my current setup with the bitfunx component cables?.
My blue GBS-C just arrived and I plugged my PS2 into it using component cables, and then connect it to my 4K QLED TV with an HDMI cable from the GBS-C, and I'm powering it with a standard phone charger.
The GBS-C seems to work fine and it recieves the signal from my PS2. Only problem is that it's not sending a signal to my TV, infact my TV doesn't even recognize the HDMI.
I've already set my console output to component cables so everything should work. I feel like I've tried everything but i still get no signal on the TV
Does anyone more knowledgeable about this stuff know about this, am I missing something or is my GBS-C just a faulty product. Also, is this common?.
Edit: it works now! turns out all i had to do was press the white button on the side of the gbs-c that activates the HDMI signal.
I want to plug my PS2 to my 4K QLED TV and i'm trying to find the best BUDGET options for an HDMI adapter/upscaler (cuz i can't buy a CRT) so I can most importantly play with zero input lag and at least decent image quality. I'd say my budget is max 100$
I was looking into the RAD2X as it seemed like a good option but idk, can anyone who's knowledgeable about this stuff suggest a good budget solution for me?.
Big Ys/Trails fan and I recently started playing this,
Loving the self plug lol.
I've come this far without using any help or guide, but this chest I can't for the life of me figure out how to get it lol.
Already beat the dungeon, this is the only chest i need before leaving.
Edit: ok figured it out, the switch to flip the wall is further south in the room, so you gotta place a bomb next to the switch while merged to the wall to get to the other side. I couldn't figure it out because the other switch is off-screen so i didn't know the wall flips when you hit it lol, weird design imo.
So i brought my old N64 that i haven't used in like 20 years to my friends house to check if it still works.
Out of all my games, MM was the only cartridge that worked and when starting the game we found these save files, the first one was 100% completed (not sure why i named it like that though), but I literally don't remember ever creating the "BEN" file, i think my game is cursed lmao.
