Forte dei Marmi vs GAIA vs COTE — worth it?

Planning my first Miami trip and trying to finalize our dinner itinerary. We already have spots like MILA, Casa Tua, Sunnys, Carbone, etc. booked, but I keep going back and forth between:

  • Forte dei Marmi
  • GAIA Miami
  • COTE Miami

For people who actually go out/eat in Miami often:

  • Which one is the most worth it overall?
  • Best actual food vs just vibes?
  • Which feels the most “special” for a first Miami trip?
  • Is GAIA worth the hype since it just opened?
  • Is Forte too similar to Carbone/Casa Tua vibe-wise?
  • If you could only pick ONE, which would you choose and why?

Does tipping the front desk at check-in actually help you get a better room?

Going on a trip soon and I’m genuinely curious if tipping the front desk at check-in still works for room upgrades or better views/floors. I’ve seen people talk about the “$20 trick” but not sure if that’s outdated now, especially at nicer hotels/FHR properties.

I’ve actually tried it before in the Bahamas and tipped the front desk $100 at check-in and got upgraded like no tomorrow, so now I’m wondering how common that actually is lol.

Have any of you gotten meaningful upgrades from doing this recently? Like standard room → suite/ocean view, or is it usually just a slightly better floor/view? Also do you tip before asking or after they help you out?

Especially curious about Miami/luxury hotels.

Why is FHR so much more expensive than Expedia/Trivago? Is it even worth it?

I just got the Amex Platinum and was looking at booking hotels through FHR because I want the points + the benefits (breakfast, upgrade, credits, etc.), but I’m comparing the same hotels on Expedia/Trivago and some of them are literally like $2k cheaper.

At that point I feel like the FHR perks don’t even make up the difference. I know you get the $200 hotel credit, property credit, breakfast, late checkout, potential upgrades, etc. but the markup still seems crazy.

Do people usually just accept paying more through FHR for the perks/status experience, or is there some better way to book? Would calling Amex Travel actually help find better FHR rates/promos or is the website pricing basically the pricing?

Also wondering if using a Virtuoso travel agent would get similar perks for less money.

hey guys, I got banned from ordering from Dhgate because I opened up a dispute on my order and anytime I try to order they just block me. Are there any good sellers that you know that have bags, shoes, jewelry with the same price point as listed on Dhgate that are on whats app? please and thank you

New to AMEX PLATINUM

New Platinum cardholder here — looking at booking Faena Miami through FHR for our July trip. Curious how realistic the room upgrades are in practice at Faena specifically. If we book a standard room, are meaningful upgrades actually common there or usually minimal? Would also love to hear how the breakfast/property credits and early check-in worked for anyone who stayed.

New Platinum cardholder question about FHR

Just got the Amex Platinum and I’m new to FHR benefits. We’re looking at booking Faena Miami through Fine Hotels + Resorts because the perks sound amazing (upgrade, breakfast, early check-in, late checkout, property credit, etc.).

For people who’ve used FHR before, are the room upgrades actually legit? If you book a standard room, do you usually get upgraded or does it depend heavily on availability/hotel?

Also if anyone has used FHR specifically at Faena Miami, how was your experience? We’ve seen a lot of great reviews and hoping the benefits are actually as good as people say.

Just got approved for the Amex Platinum and I’m still super new to all the benefits, so I had a question for people who have actually used FHR before.

We’re looking at booking Faena Miami through the Fine Hotels + Resorts program because the benefits honestly sound amazing:

  • room upgrade if available
  • early check-in
  • late checkout
  • breakfast credit
  • hotel property credit, etc.

I’ve been reading a ton of positive reviews about people getting treated really well through FHR, especially at luxury hotels, but I wanted to ask realistically how legit the upgrades actually are?

For example:

  • If we book a standard room, are upgrades actually common?
  • Does the room type you originally book matter a lot?
  • Has anyone here used FHR specifically at Faena Miami?
  • Did you actually get meaningful upgrades/perks or was it minimal?

I know upgrades are “based on availability,” but I’m curious what people’s real experiences have been because I’ve seen mixed opinions online.

Would love any tips since this is our first time using Platinum/FHR.

I’m over 200 classes in and used to go nonstop. At one point I was even doing two classes back to back every day. I was honestly in the best shape of my life — super toned, strong, energized, and obsessed with going.

Then I got Norovirus around mid March and had to stop for about a month. Ever since then, it’s been SO hard to get back into the routine. I finally took my first class again last week and I literally dreaded going the entire day.

The weird thing is I’m still skinny, but I feel way less toned and so much weaker than before. Exercises that used to feel easy now feel exhausting, and mentally I just don’t have that same excitement or discipline anymore.

It’s frustrating because solidcore used to be such a huge part of my life and now I almost avoid it. Has anyone else gone through this after taking a break from being sick or burned out? How did you get yourself back into the routine without forcing it and hating every second of it

I started tirzepatide last Wednesday at the lowest dose (0.25). I’m around 130 lbs and trying to lose about 10–15 lbs.

Since my first injection, I’ve had pretty strong appetite suppression — I feel full really fast and honestly don’t feel like eating much at all. I’ve also been a bit nauseous.

Is this normal after just the first dose? And does the appetite suppression get stronger with each injection, or does your body adjust over time?

Would love to hear other people’s experiences, especially early on.
