I thought Seattle was in Canada, and asked a man if he had just moved to the States.

Today, I was working at my cash register—I work at a grocery store—and was happily ringing a man up! We were having the same old conversation about the weather, and how it's extremely humid and hot where I live, which is in a tourist town on the beach (side note, traffic is horrible this time of year, so it makes most tourists cranky asf)

He eventually mentioned that he lived in Seattle, so it never got this hot there, to which I laughed! How amazing to meet someone from another country, especially where I live! I then asked him, "I'm sure! Canada has the weirdest weather, I've heard," to which he stared at me in confusion.

But I kept going, like an idiot.

I asked him what brought him "down here," and he must have assumed that I misspoke, answering my question with the same old "the beach, the markets" blah blah blah. Finally, I had to ID him for beer. Every state has a different look to its ID, meaning that the DOB is in different places. This takes me a hot second, so I normally ask follow-up questions, just to make it less awkward. Anyway, as I glance at his license, I notice something weird.

He was from Washington.

My confused dumbass asked "Oh, did you recently move to the states?"

So! It turns out that Seattle, despite sounding like an extremely Canadian town, is NOT in Canada. Rather, it's in Washington — wh**ich is even weirder, as I think it would better suit Oregon or something. Seattle, Oregon sounds so much better.

Seriously, before anyone comes after me wirh allegations, it SOUNDS Canadian. Ontario, Prince Edward Island Quebec, Montreal, Vancouver, Seattle, and Edmonton. See? It fits right in!

This is now my shameful secret that I will carry to the grave.

Looking for an open-world game, with a decent story that includes character customization.

I have some money to spend on games, and I'm looking for a quality game with a character creation/customization aspect to it, preferably open-world.

Games I've played and liked:

  • Baldurs Gate 3
  • Skyrim
  • Cyberpunk 2077
  • Mass Effect (Legendary Edition)
  • Fallout 4
  • South Park's The Fractured But Whole
  • Legend of Zelda (BOTW, TOTK, etc. --- grew up on this series. While you can't customize Link beyond outfits, I adore the open-world aspect of it).

I liked CYP2077 because of the open world, story, and the customization aspect, despite options being a bit limited. Same goes for Mass Effect and Fallout 4. However, I don't really want to play any more Bethesda games (they run weird), or some non-open-world games. I want to explore around, find outfits or styles, hoard money, do quests, or just shoot a crap ton of things.

I tried Dragon's Dogma 2, but refunded it after a bit because I didn't like the flow of the game, and the combat was weird.

Anyone have any recommendations?

Kitten has decided to poop in the sink.

After I got my own kitten three months ago, my parents got cat-sick and decided that they wanted their own, who could be friends with mine since we live together.

We have four combined litter boxes for three cats: two kittens and one adult cat. The adult cat also likes to go outside (we have a fenced off backyard, she has an airtag, and she is only allowed time to sunbathe for a maximum of 30 minutes), do her business in the backyard with the dogs, bury it, then come back in, so it's essentially four litter boxes for two kittens—one in my room, one in my parents' room, and two downstairs.

My kitten is perfect, no complaints, and my parents' kitten has been fine until today. This morning there was poop in the sink downstairs. The litter boxes were cleaned, and the suspect was my parents' cat since he free-roams while mine sleeps with me. Tonight, I caught him "brown-pawed," pooping in the sink. We cleaned it, bleached and cleaned everything, and rechecked the litter boxes, all of which are fine.

We're at a loss for what to do. Parents' cat is not neutered, while mine is not spayed. They're both 4 months old and are set to have their operations in late August. He hasn't had issues with urination; it is quite literally just pooping... a shitty situation, if you will.

Any advice for this poop bandit?

Something feels wrong with a new piercing.

I (18F) just got a new piercing to celebrate my birthday on the 16th. It was on the same day, and is in my upper cartilage area on both ears. However, I feel like there's something wrong with the one on my left side.

Before I start, let me give some context. I am able to move my ears, wiggling them without moving any other muscles, etc. I've been told that I am a very expressive person, and my ears naturally wiggle or move for certain things. Weird, I know.

With that out of the way, this issue started about an hour after I got my piercing.

If I move my left ear, it SOUNDS like there's water stuck inside. It's like my ear popping, but liquid-like. I have to reposition the stud that I was pierced with, pushing the flat back completely in, so that my stud is poking a little out of my ear if I want it to stop. The sound also comes out when I move the stud, so it's not a good fix. If I move my head too fast, it makes the noise as well.

Then, if I press on or shift the skin directly beneath my jaw (this section of skin is right on the edge of my jawbone, an inch beneath the lower part of my ear), it makes a noise. Sometimes, it also happens when I move my jaw outwards (like into the space in front of me), or if I'm chewing. I have asked my parents if they could hear it while I'm actively triggering the noise, but they say that they cannot.

Anytime I go to Google, it says that 'feeling fluid' is just infection, but this happened an hour after I got the piercing and has been persistent for the past few days. It's not hot to the touch, but my left side hurts significantly more, to the point of taking 500mg of extra strength Tylenol to soothe it while at work. I have a lot of other piercings (I get a new one every year) and know generally what to expect. But this is just driving me insane.

Is this actually a thing that happens, or is my body being strange? I have my annual next week, but should I make an appointment sooner? Is urgent care an option for my noisy ear? If needed, I can a picture of it, although it's not inflamed.

Parents' kitten is aggressive, and I need advice.

For some needed context, last month I adopted a kitten. She's a gorgeous black cat and was only 6 weeks old when I first got to trial run her. She's 12 weeks now and is my literal baby. It took her around 2 weeks to fully adjust to the other animals in the house—a 4-year-old calico and 2 older dogs.

My parents last weekend decided to trial run a tuxedo cat, who is 2 weeks older than mine. After a day, he and my kitten were gleefully playing, biting, all of that jazz. My demon of a kitten finally has a playmate and is happy to play with the new kitten instead of terrorizing the other animals.

Now, this is where the issue is arising. This new kitten is... slightly aggressive? He's only been here for a week but has a habit of biting. With our dogs, he's still hissing, which is fine since his litter was skittish. But he's begun to get worse.

He's food aggressive.

I was giving my kitten a treat since I've been attempting to desensitize her to loud noises and other people being in the house—she is going to be my college cat, hence the training. I gave him a treat, and he bit me while growling. He's done this a couple of times, but today was the first time he drew blood. I'm a heavy bleeder, too, unfortunately!

He's also beginning to get more aggressive with my kitten, and bites her ears, tails, and these are full-on bites. This may also be his way of establishing dominance, but it's a little worrying to me.

How do I resolve this? With my kitten, it wasn't an issue since she ADORES food, so I'm at a loss. If we don't correct this behavior, I'm worried that it may get worse. I am moving out next year with my kitten, but for the time we're living all together, I'd like this relationship to get better.

The Prelude to Dreams mission solidified my love for Firefly.

I recently played through the Prelude to Dreams missions after a hiatus from HSR, of which I believe released in 3.8, and fell back in love with Firefly's character during the quest.

Specifically, this is about the "Every Dawn of the World" quest within it.

>!Firefly's conversation with her past was something that, admittedly, made me tear up. Her voice actor's performance was incredible, and it contributed to the atmosphere in such a touching way.!<

>!Past: For an ordinary girl, simple happiness shouldn't just be a matter of chance.!<

>!Firefly: ...!<

>!Firefly: But who's to say... all of this isn't what an ordinary girl would do?!<

>!I feel like it's such a good representation of trauma, as someone who has PTSD. The acceptance of the past and the acknowledgment of how her experiences shaped her decisions resonated with me.!<

>!"They are a past that taught me to cherish, urged me to seek, and showed me how to love."!<

>!Firefly: Any ordinary girl would make the same choice I did... When faced with everything I have faced.!<

>!Firefly: In the darkest moments, ordinary people never need to feel small. After all, they always discover that they've already become something noble and bright.!<

>!Firefly: Indeed. I can't change the outcome or even the process...!<

>!Firefly: But I can decide how to view my destiny.!<

>!The acceptance of her faults is what makes me glad to have mained her since the moment she came out. She's relatable in so many ways, and by God, her monologue near the end is well-written. I'm grateful to have a happier character with trauma, who, despite her past, uses it to make her face life with a smile on her face.!<

Anyways~ I also downed the boss in three hits from Firefly, so my dedication has definitely paid off, LMAO.
