I’m having an issue with smart quotes in Scrivener for Windows. In dialogue that ends with an em dash, I’m finding that Scrivener sometimes gives me an opening curly quotation mark after the em dash instead of a closing one.

For example, I’m getting:

“Well—“

instead of:

“Well—”

I’ve found this throughout my manuscript. I tried searching for the incorrect em-dash/opening-quote combination, but Scrivener seems to treat the opening and closing curly quotation marks as equivalent in search, so it pulls up both.

Has anyone else run into this? Is there a way to search specifically for the incorrect opening quotation mark after an em dash, or a setting that prevents Scrivener from creating it in the first place?

I am 58F. Like my life. I've been divorced for 6 years and haven't dated in that time. I had some health issues, and now that I am a little better, using my time to work on my goals.

But every once in a while, I think it would be nice to meet someone. And then I start reading here and honestly has me saying, "Not yet!" 😆

That entire teacher dancing sketch had me in hysterics! Damon kept a straight face and can really dance. Even though he was supposed to be making an ass out of himself. Impressive!

I am just watching the first episode of Testaments, and all along, I was assuming that Daisy was indeed Nicole, And that eventually she and Hannah would find out they're sisters.

But then I read that the showrunners made the decision that the age was not right. And that Daisy is not Nicole,

But on a lot of posts here, it seems people think they are sisters. Anyone know for sure?

I have to start by saying I love the entire cast. No one I dislike. But I always felt like there were the solid leads, the really charismatic profilers that I tuned in for.

Gideon. Derek. Rossi. Penelope. Reid. Hotchner.

The others were more like supporting. Much needed but without that 'it' factor.

Rossi and Penelope are still on, thankfully. But I feel like they need some new blood. Did anyone else feel like this?
