I'm beyond excited for this one. It looks so cool, so different, and I love that it feels like a wild movie. I'm hoping others feel the same, or at least want to give it a shot.

I'm fairly new to DR, and I've read a lot of the popular ones. At first I was addicted, most likely because it was a brand new genre to me and it was so shocking and amazing to feel. Nowadays, I'm finding everything to be... bland maybe? It's like they're all predictable. I can even tell the pattern of the MCs relationships, and can basically predict the sex. It's always oral, move onto standard, and maybe something shocking towards the end, but the shock value doesn't hit because it's predictable. The dialogue feels unrealistic, sometimes corny.. I think I might enjoy slow burn more simply because I invest so much for 2/3 of the book until finally something happens and that feels good. For example, I enjoyed Nocticadia a lot... but I first read all of HD Carlton, it was alright. Then everyone said Leigh Rivers, but for me it didn't do much. Am I just bored? Rina Kent feels all the same. Shantel Tesslier's series are all the same book. I even jumped to AO3 and tried those but jeeeeeze, why isn't it "doing it" for me?
Anyone else have this slump? Does anyone else see pattern recognition in books? Predictable behavior or even like a "standard pattern" of how all these books go?
TLDR: every book I'm reading is either the same in one way or predictable. OR they're so wildly unbelievable I can't relate to anything.

Anyone feel like this at all?

I should also note I don't really read much fantasy. I prefer contemporary, "real life" stories.

My senior dog is on home care, and it has hindered me from going to the gym. We have to monitor her at home as much as possible (I work from home). I went to the gym everyday as a way out and really enjoy it, but leaving right now isn't an option for a least a month or two.
I have dumbbells, one 25lb kettle bell, a big ball, resistant bands, and live in a small apartment.
The issue I have is I have zero motivation to work out at home. I try to lift or do anything, even in front of the tv, or with music on, and it's not the same. My motivation is shot at home. How do you make yourself consistently workout at home everyday? And how much time to workout at home if I'm used to an hour or more at the gym?

(Please I don't want any advice on my senior dog care. I've already made the decision to keep her comfortable as much as possible in her days at home. It's my choice to stay home and work out here for now).

Hello friends! As I'm sure most of you did, I purchased some t shirts before I bought my tix out of pure excitement from the FOYD site. It's still stuck on "paid". Is this a normal timing thing?

I just want to warn everyone who's address for their 1099 is in a city of Los Angeles: if you've filed your taxes as a 1099 (which we do) for IC, DD, UE, etc, you absolutely will get a fine for not registering for a "business liscence" in February. The office of finance is notifying by the city and sending bill collections with penalties every year you didn't file. Th e window is only Jan-Feb 1st each year. If you're like me, you'd have no idea this was a thing, and you most likely will get back-billed every single year. I had a whopping 575$ bill for this because it's or the last 4 years, and they don't notify you until every 3-4 years so you'll be screwed already with penalties. It's every single person who lives in city of LA that pays taxes as a 1099.
Please do some research, I don't want anyone getting completely screwed like me.
Research LA office of Finance "Business Tax" registration for 1099 employees. It's a shitty thing and feels absolutely like a scam, but I assure you it is not. It's a real thing and they're collecting , even if you've already paid your taxes each year (like I have) this is an entirely separate thing.

Can someone explain to my elder emo millennial ass why I got into the presale and bought tix for a ridiculous amount , and now a day after general tix went on sale, the same seats but even closer rows are nearly half the price cheaper each? (Please be nice, I generally don't get why I freaked out about needing to get into presale if this happens normally). Is this a regular thing for Ticketmaster/AXS? What's the catch for pre-sale then, why not wait until general anyways?

Obviously I haven't bought tix to big venues in a loooong time so I feel stupid for paying what I paid.

I'm a 40 yr old female. I've been a competitive gymnast my earlier years, a strong soccer player into my very early 30s. I got to the gym now and that's it. I've been very curious about kickboxing; for all the aspects including physical and mental health. I've never done it, but I want to try. (And take it seriously). Is this a crazy thought? Mods please delete if not the right form to post on.. but I'm curious, what's the best way to start? I know a silly workout class isnt what I'm looking for. I've always had a coach and I'm looking for a similar feel to train, but I'm nervous as hell to jump into this. Where the heck to start (if even that's a thing)?

Yall I looooove Hawke by Jescie Hall. . I loved the cheating trope but it's what I call the "good cheating" where the FMCs boyfriend is a huge POS and she's tempted to feel unbroken by another guy. This is the type of cheating trope I'm looking for. Maybe the FMC's bf is abusive or threatening, and she's too warped or broken to think she can leave him... until someone else (the MMC) comes along and slowly persuades her. Bonus if it's slow burn, angsty. You just wanna root for FMC to leave this dude and be happy or finally hate fuck someone the MMC to get away from her relationship.

I just finished game on and I admit I was a little shocked when the next chapter was "Epilogue" already.
Did nothing crazy really happen in the plot line? ? I mean yes there was a little "action, plot twists, etc" but I found it kind of... boring? The end result was like... ok, so that's it. I enjoyed the spice as Navessa does like to push the "hot common topics" of sex acts. Last book it was pushing sex workers, this seems very reverse harem.. all good and fun, but the actual plot was...just a who's-the-father situation?

My mushroom basket tomato plant is in ground, next to other tomatoes. All the other ones are flourishing, this one is ALL leaves. It's huge, thick stalks, big leaves, but zero flowers. No fruiting whatsoever. It's starting to look like a bush. I don't think it's too much nitrogen as all my other maters are watered the same and they're gorgeous. It's in perfect sunlight.
Anyone had all big leaves and no fruiting whatsoever? It's a beautiful green too, just no tomatoes 😫

do one heaping scoop of white vein powder mixed with a bottle of water. I love the feeling from it, makes me positive, motivated, and social. Only downside I feel is around one hour after, I get insannnnely hungry. And when I eat, I eat A LOT more than I normally would. It's like the nerve that makes you feel satiated doesn't really work, and I can eat more. After I eat, I have a huge kratom hangover and I'm super tired (most likely because of the raise in blood sugar from eating). It reminds me of when I was a teen and smoked a bunch and would get the crazy munchies. Is this a similar effect with everyone? Should you eat before you take Kratom?

I'm wondering, is there any DR books out there where two enemies get stranded somewhere, maybe an island or somewhere vast due to an unfortunate situation. They hate each other but have to be resilient to survive... and eventually capture the feels? But obviously, more dark, and dirty. Is there anything along that kind of theme?

Edition/sprayed edges style hardcover looks. But obvious not all books are hardcover. And some have beautiful sprayed edges, (nocticadia is super pretty, I have the C&M duet with the red foil edges, Brynne weaver's series with foil edges, etc or any of the mystic box ones)while others have better spines showing the Title without the dust covers on. How do you arrange your books? Especially ones with sprayed edges, do you buy two of them to show the spine title and then the sprayed edge? Is that crazy. Hahah. I just love rearranging a bookshelf but I'm curious how everyone else does it.

This is my first time (month) using the smith machine for mainly squats. I'm very serious about my form because I actually find squats super hard to do. I only use one 25 lb weight on each side of the barbell.
Afterwards (next day or so) I'm super sore in all the diff areas in legs/butt mostly, but my lower back is always hurting. Is it the lower back upper butt/tailbone area muscles that should feel
Sore? Or am I still doing sometbing wrong? Should i never feel any pain/soreness in my back area (along with the butt)?

This is not meant for argument or rage bait, and I know the definition of dark romance genre has to have an HEA.. buuuut, I'm genuinely curious when everyone is requesting book recommendations, their final say is always "MUST BE HEA!!!"

I ask this because, doesn't it kind of ruin the experience sometimes/somehow when you know, no matter what, it's going to all work out? Like we read some of the gnarliest situations in this genre, but the ending is always rainbows and love? Doesn't anyone crave, even a teeny bit, more sorrow?

Looking for a new audiobook for a drive i have to do. I have done the best ones like Ruinous Love Trilogy, Hawke, into the darkness series, and Edhe of Darkness series already. I'm not a huge fan of teddy hamilton (plz don't kill me lol)

The people have spoken, and you have all told me Corvin King is great on audio. I've never "heard" him before or read anything so I'm not sure where to start.
ALSO, i loved nocticadia, and whoever that guy was lit my fire as well.

I guess my question is, do I listen for the male or do i listen for the story?! Which book to pick??!!
