Cognizant: Received a job offer and completed onboarding, but no update on start date. Is this normal?

Hi! Just wanted to ask if anyone here has experienced something similar.

I received a job offer last August 2 for a Process Executive – Customer Service (Retail Account) position in Bridgetowne, Giga Tower. I already completed the onboarding form they sent me because I was told it was needed before they could send the employment contract.

The details they gave me indicated that the account's start date was August 5, 2026, but until now I still haven't received the contract or any confirmation about when I'm actually supposed to start.

I've already followed up several times, but I haven't received any reply yet. I'm getting a bit confused since the stated start date has already passed.

For anyone who has gone through the same hiring process, especially for Bridgetowne, does the start date on the offer usually change depending on the batch or onboarding process? How long did it take before you received your contract and actual starting date?

I was used as a middleman in a Marketplace/GCash scam. GCash dispute was declined. What should I do next?

I was used as a middleman in an online Marketplace/GCash scam. This happened on July 5, and it has been really stressful because I’m also a university student and I wasn’t able to handle everything every day due to my school schedule.

I want to clear my name, know what steps are still worth doing, and understand if I should escalate to BSP, file a police blotter/cybercrime report, or keep following up with GCash.

Context:

I accepted a task from QuestHero about helping post a marketplace ad. The person redirected me to Telegram and said I would earn a small commission once the item was sold. Later, they redirected me to another person they called their boyfriend, who handled the item pickup/payment through Instagram.

A buyer became interested and booked a Lalamove rider. The buyer first tried to pay the seller directly through the seller’s QR, but the transaction failed. Since I was acting as the middleman, I asked the buyer to send the payment to my GCash so I could forward it to the seller. I now realize this was a serious mistake, but at that time I thought I was just helping complete the transaction.

The buyer sent me ₱7,500, and I immediately forwarded the full amount to the seller’s new QR/business account. The payment went to a PayMongo/QR Ph merchant account. I did not keep the buyer’s money.

After I sent the payment, the Telegram conversation was deleted/inactive and the Instagram account blocked me. I tried contacting the buyer and Lalamove rider to confirm if the item was picked up/delivered, but I could not get a clear response. I later explained everything to the buyer and offered proof, but the buyer blocked me and reported me to GCash for swindling.

My GCash account was put on hold because of the buyer’s complaint.

Previous Attempts:

I submitted evidence to GCash, including:

QuestHero task screenshots

Telegram/Instagram screenshots

Proof I was offered commission as a middleman

Buyer payment to my GCash

Proof I forwarded the full ₱7,500 to the merchant QR

PayMongo confirmation that the transaction went to the merchant

Proof the seller blocked/deleted chats

My explanation to the buyer

Posts suggesting the same person/group may have victimized others

GCash opened a dispute for the outgoing payment, but after around 10 days, they said the refund request was declined because the receiving side/merchant claimed the transaction was valid and goods/services were fulfilled. GCash said they can no longer reverse the funds through their formal dispute process.

My concern is that the refund dispute was declined, but I still did not keep the money. The buyer’s money only passed through my GCash and was forwarded to the QR/business account given by the seller. I also still have the separate issue of the swindling complaint/account hold against me.

I have not filed a police blotter yet because my schedule has been tight due to university

Should I choose Cognizant or VXI while waiting for my graduation?

I am scheduled for a final interview with Cognizant for a customer service retail account. I have three months of experience handling a financial account.

I studied at PUP and have already completed my academic requirements, I am now only waiting for my official graduation. During my initial interview, I said that I was already a college graduate. Now I am worried that Cognizant might ask for graduation documents or withdraw the offer after the background check.

I have also been accepted by VXI for a Comcast sales account. However, I am hesitant to continue because I do not really like sales accounts.

Should I still proceed with my Cognizant final interview and clarify my graduation status, or should I accept the VXI offer instead? Is there a high chance Cognizant will withdraw my application because I am still waiting for graduation?

Would it be better to apply to other companies while I still have time? I would appreciate advice from anyone who has worked at Cognizant, VXI, or has experienced a similar situation.

What document can I submit to VXI if my graduation is still in September?

Hi, fellow PUPians! I recently applied to VXI, and I told them that I had already graduated. However, my graduation ceremony is still scheduled for September 21–23.

I have already completed all my subjects and no longer have any classes or academic responsibilities. I’m only waiting for the graduation ceremony.

I’m worried because my Certificate of Candidacy states my actual graduation date, so I don’t think I can submit it to HR after saying that I already graduated.

What other documents can I request from PUP as proof that I have completed all my academic requirements? Can I request a TOR, certification of grades, certificate of completion, or any document that does not indicate that I am still waiting for graduation?

Has anyone experienced a similar situation when applying for a BPO job? What did you tell HR, and what document did the company accept?

Thank you!

What should I say about my graduation status during BPO interviews?

I’m from PUP and currently waiting for our graduation ceremony on September 21–23. I’ve already completed all my academic requirements, have no more classes, and have no remaining school responsibilities.

I recently applied at Concentrix and told them I was only waiting for graduation. They considered me still enrolled and advised me to reapply after I officially graduate.

Now I’m unsure how I should explain my status in future interviews. Should I say that I’ve completed my studies and am only waiting for the ceremony? What documents should I prepare—TOR, diploma, certificate of completion, or something else?

I have three months of BPO experience handling a financial account. I’m planning to apply at VXI Muñoz, Teleperformance Vertis North, and TTEC UP Technohub.

I’d appreciate advice from anyone who has experienced the same situation.

How do I survive with only ₱600 left while unemployed, dealing with debt, and afraid of collection harassment?

I know I’m in a very bad financial position right now, and I take responsibility for it. I’m not looking for an instant escape from my debts. I’m asking for practical advice on how to survive, protect my remaining money, and handle my creditors properly.

I currently have only around ₱600 left for food, transportation, and mobile data. I’m actively applying for BPO jobs, but even if I get hired soon, I understand that it may still take around two weeks or longer before I receive my first salary.

My updated known obligations include:

UnionBank credit card: ₱32,800 statement balance, with ₱1,500 minimum payment

SLoan installment: ₱4,234

Another SLoan installment: ₱3,784

SPayLater: ₱1,200

Laptop payment: ₱2,000

TikTok Shop installment: ₱1,411

BillEase installments: ₱1,609 and ₱2,405

Braces payment: ₱2,000

Atome: ₱3,366

Additional SLoan installments: ₱1,000 and ₱4,234

Maya Credit due on August 10, ₱22,000

Some of these are already overdue, while others are only monthly installment amounts and not the full remaining balances.

Most of the borrowing happened while I was unemployed and trying to cover necessities while looking for work. I understand that this still created a serious financial problem, and I want to stop the cycle instead of borrowing again.

Atome is already bombarding me with calls and text messages. I understand that they have the right to contact me about the debt, but the frequency is making me panic and lose sleep. I’m scared that the calls will become more aggressive, that they may contact other people, or that I may be publicly shamed.

The anxiety is affecting my ability to focus, think clearly, and apply for jobs properly.

I’m also worried that having ongoing or overdue debts might affect my chances of getting hired in a BPO company.

Do BPO employers usually check an applicant’s credit history, loan accounts, or unpaid balances during the background-check process? Could these debts cause me to fail a background check even if I have no criminal case and I’m willing to work and repay them?

Right now, my main questions are:

How should I divide my last ₱600 between food, load, and transportation for job applications?

Should I temporarily stop making payments until I have income, especially if paying would leave me with nothing for food or fare?

How should I approach UnionBank, Maya, Shopee, Atome, and BillEase to request extensions, restructuring, or payment arrangements?

How many calls or messages are considered excessive, and what should I do if Atome or another collector becomes abusive, threatening, or contacts people who are not involved?

Which debts should I prioritize once I start earning?

Are there any legitimate short-term ways to earn without spending capital or falling for scams?

Will these ongoing debts make it harder for me to pass a BPO background check or receive a job offer?

I am continuing my BPO applications and trying to look for small online work, but the stress is making it hard to function.

I would appreciate practical advice, especially from people who have recovered from a similar debt situation or have experience with BPO hiring, collections, and background checks. Please be honest, but I hope the discussion can stay constructive and focused on realistic next steps.

Need advice. Nalulunod na ako sa utang. Ano ang dapat kong unahin bayaran?

Hi everyone. Gusto ko lang sana humingi ng advice.

Hindi ako proud sa situation ko ngayon, and I know it’s my responsibility. I’m actively looking for work and applying every day, pero habang wala pang stable income, gusto kong gumawa ng tamang strategy sa pagbabayad.

Ito ang current obligations ko:

Credit Card
UnionBank CC – ₱21.3k outstanding (estimated na magiging around ₱43.9k total or 50k kasama yung susunod na installments)

Already Overdue (₱9,218 total)
Sloan – ₱4,234
Sloan – ₱3,784
SPayLater – ₱1,200

Upcoming

July
Laptop – ₱2,000
TikTok PayLater – ₱1,411
Billease – ₱1,609
Billease – ₱2,405
Braces – ₱2,000
Atome – ₱3,366
Sloan – ₱1,000
Sloan – ₱4,234
GLoan – ₱1,510

August
Maya Credit - 22,000
Sloan – ₱3,784
LazPay – ₱700
UnionBank CC
Braces – ₱2,000
Laptop – ₱2,000
TikTok PayLater – ₱1,305
Grad Pic – ₱4,900
Billease – ₱1,609 (last)
Billease – ₱2,405 (last)
Atome Cash – ₱2,796
Sloan – ₱1,000
Sloan – ₱4,234

May recurring pa hanggang November (Laptop, Braces, Sloan), then laptop hanggang December.

Please be kind. I know kasalanan ko rin kung bakit umabot sa ganito, and I’m not looking for sympathy.

Gusto ko lang magkaroon ng realistic plan para makaalis sa cycle na ito.

Maraming salamat sa sasagot.
