The bet paid off

Early last season, my 22 year old son said, "If the Canes win the Cup this year, we should get matching tattoos." I've never gotten one, so I nervously agreed, knowing full well it was a distinct possibility that I might be wearing ink after all was said and done. The bet has been paid off this weekend. My son's is on his leg, and mine is on my arm. Even better: it's his design (I just added the years), and I'm so proud to wear it! LGC!

Coming back to town in early October and need a course rec based on conditions

Used to live in Raleigh and know the courses very well, and I'm coming back to town for a wedding soon. We're staying in Wake Forest, and my wife (who doesn't golf) and I will be sharing a car, so I'll need to play relatively close by. I'm planning to play Heritage and River Ridge, but I'm probably going to play one more round, and I need recommendations for a course based on current course conditions. Who has the best greens and fairways right now in the Raleigh area? Thanks!

Formula for extracting information from one worksheet's column to different worksheet giving blank result.

Excel for Microsoft 365 (desktop), version 2607, build 16.0

Golf stats workbook has one sheet called "Scores" that contains one row for each round for every round I've played, including course name in column A and date played in B. There is one sheet per course with the name of the course in both the tab and in A2 and one column per round played with the date in row 2. In the Scores sheet, column BC contains the color of the tees I played that day. I'm trying to get that color into the correct sheet and under the correct date in row 3 using the following formula, but getting blanks:

=IF(AND(Scores!$A$1:$A$2000=$A$2,Scores!$B$1:$B$2000=F$2),Scores!$BC$1:$BC$2000,"")

The goal: If the course sheet's course name in A2 matches the Score sheet's column A, AND the course sheet's date in row 2 matches the date in the Score sheet's column B, then put the color value in the Score sheets column BC in row 3 of the course sheet. Thank you!

When did fans wearing team jerseys to games become so commonplace and why?

If you watch videos of games in the 1960s and 70s, for instance, very few fans were wearing team jerseys. Now it's almost uncommon for fans not to have on team memorabilia. What happened to change things and when?

Reddit app scrolling - Samsung S21

I'm scrolling down the page in the Reddit app for a while, and then I see a post I want to read in full or comment on. When I'm done, I hit the back button, and it goes to the top of the page rather than the point I scrolled to, so I have to scroll all the way down to where I had gotten to before. Not sure if there's an app setting or not. Samsung S21.

Gemini Air won't show 4K station without toggling HDR setting

I had no problem with my previous Gemini Air device, but that ended up being hacked, so I had to get another one from DTV. Since then, every single time I turn the new Gemini Air (and TV as well) off and back on, when I try to tune to the 4K channel, I get an error that HDR must be enabled. I go to the settings on the Air device, and as always, HDR is enabled. I have to toggle it off and back on (both of which require a restart) before I can view 4K content. Has anyone else experienced this and fixed it without having to send it back?

People who review mundane products, movies, etc in overdramatic or grandiose ways

One star because they undercooked one of your meals? Get real

5 stars: "The waitress brought my 8 year old crayons!" (end of review) - Um, that would happen at 99% of restaurants. How was the food and the rest of the service?

1 star: "That was the absolute worst movie I've ever seen". - Yeah, ok, Movie_Guy_323. It wasn't the worst movie you've ever seen. It probably wasn't even the worst movie you've seen this month, princess. Besides, it was Antman. Did you expect high art?

5 stars: "Paul Blart, Mall Cop II was the funniest movie I've ever seen!!!!" - Are you an 8 year old seeing his first comedy? You probably also rated MP and the Holy Grail 5 stars, so you're not to be trusted with ratings (note: The Holy Grail IS a 5 star movie. Rating both of said movies 5 stars is why everyone should take ratings with a grain of salt.)

People who video in portrait mode

...especially when the content is more appropriate for landscape. Concert footage is a great example since the stage is usually wider than it is tall. Maybe this is just me, but playing a video taken in portrait on anything but a phone/iPad (TV, computer, etc) compresses the image to an extent and leaves blank space on the left and right edges of the screen. If you take the video in landscape, this is never a problem, regardless of the device it's played on. The exception would be if the subject of the video is taller than it is wide, and therefore the content is more appropriate for portrait, such as capturing a closeup of a human being.

Unpopular opinion

Father's Day is the worst day to play golf. Half the people on the course have barely played golf in their lives. Been watching a group the front of us sit in their carts waiting while the other cart hits their shots before driving across the fairway to their balls. Ugh....

Brind'Amour Rink?

In basketball, they often name the floor after a great coach, including active ones on occasion. I'm thinking they need to add Rod's signature to the ice and name it Brind'Amour Rink. He's earned it as a player and coach.

Gemini Air was hacked

Just a heads up if this ever happens to you. I turned on my TV today and immediately got a notification that my account will be discontinued in two days due to non-payment. I was able to bypass that and found that the name that came up in the profile was someone else's (James). I tried signing out, but the account it's signed in to has auto-login turned on, and it immediately signed into that account again. I even tried factor reset, and after going through the setup, it signed in again to that account. While on the phone with DTV support, I found that in Settings > System > Device Preferences > About, the email address that showed for the account is jamesstanton257628@frid.dum, which is obviously a fake email address. The only thing DTV can do is to send a new Gemini device to me, which is a royal pain. It would be really nice if a factory reset actually required you to sign in to the device, regardless of account settings. Kind of ridiculous that it doesn't.

I'm receiving a 0 as the result of a sum formula where the result should be 4

This is a golf spread sheet I created to track my stats. Each column starting with E is a separate round of golf. In E143, I'm trying to calculate scrambling success for the round (see full formula below), where scrambling success is defined as the number of times with par on the hole and 1 or fewer putts (meaning you missed the green, but still got a par). Yes, I'm going to add birdie scrambles to this at a later date, but right now, I need to solve for par scrambling success. The hole numbers are in column A.

To calculate this, I need two comparisons:

  1. My score must be = par, so I'm comparing my score in E5:E23 (note the break in E14) from the par for the hole in B5:B23 (note a break in B14 as well).
  2. Putts must be less than 2, so I'm evaluating E70:E87 (note there is no break in this array) < 2

If both are true, then 1, else 0, and then I want to sum those numbers for the total times I successfully scrambled that round. I'm using the formula below, but it's coming up with a 0 for the total when I should be getting 4 (hole numbers 4, 5, 6, and 12). Can anyone help me understand why?

=SUM(IF(AND(VSTACK($B$5:$B$13,$B$15:$B$23)=VSTACK(E$5:E$13,E$15:E$23),(E$70:E$87)<2),1,0))

I went out of town for a week and a half, setting up away mode for the first time before we left. I set the thermostat for 80, away lighting, etc. We just looked when we got back into country, and everything was running like we were home even though the Alexa app showed I was still in away mode. Did I do something wrong?
