Health anxiety after having kids?

Did anyone else find themselves more anxious about their own health after having kids?
I have 21m old twin daughters. I’m now expecting our third and find myself suddenly pretty anxious about my own health and upcoming delivery. Probably because I have kids now and feel like I have “more” to lose.
I did also have cancer when I was 20, so that probably heightens it for me.

Im not sure but I’m wondering if it’s because I have kids now, or maybe it’s just pregnancy hormones messing with me? Any insight?

Do small children need water shoes at White Water?

Taking the family to Whitewater next week. Kids are 21 months old, will probably stay in the toddler area most of the time to play. Do they need water shoes or do most small children play barefoot?

Edit: Ive added water shoes to our suitcase, thanks all for the input! Didn’t want to be overboard.

How to keep toddlers coloring off furniture?

My 21m old toddlers love to color and draw! Im wondering how to best go about keeping the crayons/markers from getting on the table and floors. I don’t expect that they’ll keep it on the paper, but I don’t want my table covered in crayon🙈🙈

Is there something I should be covering the table with before they sit down and color? Is there a trick I don’t know about yet? Am I better off just getting them their own little table and letting them get colors on it?

Newborn pics turnaround time

I’m expecting our next child this winter. I’m starting to think about newborn pictures as I know they need to be booked in advance. If you got NB pictures, what was your turnaround time?

I frequently see people online that get their newborn pictures back relatively quickly. Is that normal? With my first two, we used our family photographer who we always use for pictures. However, her turnaround time is 7 to 8 weeks. I would love to use her again as she does excellent work, but by that point they’re not even a newborn anymore. I’m wondering if it’s reasonable to look for a shorter turnaround time.

Are there people that specialize in newborn photography with shorter turnaround times? Is it typical to have a long turnaround? Thanks for all thoughts in advance!

FIL thinks we should “let our leash out”

My husband just got home from work and told me all about the phone call he had with his dad for an extended time while driving this morning.
-For context, We have twin daughters(20m old). I stay home with them. My FIL lives about 55m-1hr away and usually visits biweekly. The first year was super ROUGH. Twin A barely ever slept, had (and still has) severe GERD as well as a dairy allergy. Twin B had ear infections every time I turned around the first year.

Everytime he asks when a good time to see the girls is, we always tell him 8am or 2pm so as to spend the most amount of time with them, before or after their nap. By noon, they want a nap. I will be the first to tell you; I am not gonna fight these kids over taking a nap if they don’t wanna take a nap I’m not gonna fight them. They want their nap.

He said 8am and 2pm doesn’t always work for everyone and he’s tired of only ever coming at 8 or 2. He said we need to let him and his wife take the girls and go spend time with them (I’m assuming at their house?). All this stuff about our leash being too short.

What the heck am I supposed to even say to that?!?!

Do you go out to eat with your toddlers?

Do you go out for actual meals with your toddler where they actually eat? What age did you start taking them out for meals?

Im not talking about ”behavior” per se, they do pretty well as far as that goes. I just don’t feel like they ever actually eat when we’re out. I don’t feel like they eat and leave satisfied.

Best restaurants for kids DF options?

We’re getting ready to go on vacation for the first time since having our daughters. My oldest is 19 months old and has a dairy allergy.

I don’t love eating at chain restaurants especially when on vacation, but I would like to have a couple on hand to be able to hit for a quick lunch one or two days instead of having to go back to the hotel every day.

What chains do you find are best for dairy free options? Doesn’t necessarily have to be off the kids menu, just obviously something she would eat.

What age is okay to start Uncrustables?

My daughters are 19m. One has 4 molars and one has none.

I am looking at foods that would be easy to take on vacation with us to keep in the hotel room for a quick lunch or snack on the go. When is it OK to give not toasted bread/sandwiches? How old was your little when you started giving them the occasional uncrustable?

Things to do for toddlers?

Hi all! I think we’ve decided to go to Branson for our family vacation this summer, as it’s not too far from home and it’s our first official vacation as a family. I’m from the area but moved about 10 years ago.

My toddlers are 22 months, looking for things to do for them while we are there! I’m already planning on taking them to White Water as they have a little kid area. SDC will have to wait as they are too small for the kiddie area. TIA!

How do you get a young toddler to listen?

My daughters are 19m and we’re having a lot of trouble with throwing things (toys) and hitting, but the overall trend is that they don’t listen at all. I am firm in “if you won’t listen, I will help you listen“. For example, I will tell her “get down from there so you don’t fall”, then if she doesn’t get down I will help her down.

Problem is, as soon as they hear “stop” or “no”, instant tears and then they go right back to whatever they were doing all over again. I can only move them to a different area of the house so many times before we’ve been everywhere in a matter of 20 mins. Some of their toys are a little heavy (not heavy, but they carry some weight) so it really hurts when you get one thrown at you or just downright hit with one. I tell them no and help them set the toy down gently and find something else to do, but I don’t even get another breath in before they’re right back to hitting or throwing things. I will say “you can give that to me but do not throw it at me” and it really only works half the time.

I try to keep it short and sweet and not use lots of words. Nothing seems to work. I know they’re wired to act on impulse, but they do need to learn not to do certain things.

How do you take your littles out to do things by yourself?

Hi all! My twins are 19m and we love to get out and go do stuff! I am just finding it stressful to take them out by myself instead of waiting for the weekend when my husband is off work and can help.

They are great kids. I love them so much but very big emotions set in very quickly. They also play off of each other, so if one gets upset, the other one will cry just because the first one started crying and it’s very hard to calm them down once that cycle starts.

Also, if they’re not in their wagon stroller or in a shopping cart, they both run different directions. How do you keep up with them on your own? TIA!

Did anyone drive themselves home after delivery?

Hi all! Im wondering if anyone has had a vaginal delivery and drove themselves home from the hospital after discharge.

Its kind of looking like my husband will go home to be with our twin toddlers when I deliver this baby, so I’m seeing how likely it’ll be that I will be able to drive home myself.

What do you dress your toddler to sleep?

What does your toddler wear to sleep and what do you keep the thermostat on overnight?

I have twin 19m olds. Usually for bedtime, they wear footie pajamas and a lightweight sleep sack. I keep the thermostat at 69 overnight. Just making sure they won’t get too warm.

Daily Facial sunscreen recommendations?

Looking for recommendations on a daily wear sunscreen under my makeup. I have heard there are better options than Elta MD nowadays.

I am prone to breakouts and don’t love a white cast. What are your favorites?

What helped your toddler go from whining to words?

I have twin 18, almost 19m old, toddlers. One says mama, dada, and yeah. The other says mama, dada, and ball.

Anything else is just whining all day long. I know they’re trying to communicate but it’s driving me nuts. We don’t do any screen time yet and they bring me books to read all day long. I try and narrate everything I do all day long, I have since they were tiny!

I feel like I’m doing everything I can to promote speech and make it fun for them, but I’m not seeming to get anywhere. TIA!

If you had fast let down, did you have it with all your babies?

Hi everyone! I had my first in Nov of ‘24 and had a really fast let down, to the point she would eat so fast she would throw up her whole feed afterwards. I tried stopping her to burp halfway through, no dice so I switched to just pumping for a while.

Im expecting our next child and am wondering if I should expect to have a fast letdown with this child also. Trying to decide if I’ll even attempt breastfeeding this time. Pumping really isn’t for me.

If you had a fast letdown, did you have it with all your babies? TIA!
