New update issues

I have just bought OP13, and now seeing all these posts about degradation of battery and camera in the new update, it's scaring me a lot, should I return it maybe? Country: India

OP 13 vs OP 15R

Both are coming in a similar budget in the Amazon sale. I understand how OP 13 is better in multiple specs, but my issue is that it's 1.5 yrs old and I want to know how much impact it would have, as I am looking to use the phone for 4-5 yrs at least.

Secondly, I don't really like the curved display (i haven't used one though so idm but I drop my phone a lot so sceptical about the protection part). Also I like the design of 15R better

Third is the battery, how efficient is the battery usage is 13 as compared to 15R? In normal usage how much difference would be there in these two? (Since OP 13 has a 2K display)

Lastly should I go for a phone which is this old? Coz I don't think there would be much difference in normal usage, be it in terms of screen 1.5K vs 2K or performance, yes camera is a factor.

OP 13 vs OP 15R

Which one is better considering the prices would be similar in Amazon sale.

Especially for someone who wants a decent camera but longevity. Please give your reasons too.

How bad is the OP 15R camera?

Help me choosebest phone

Which of the following provides better value for money, if the requirements are a good multitasking phone, good battery, decent to good camera, don't play games regularly but don't want a laggy phone either if I play one. 256 storage is a must, not sure about ram but should be good enough.

Range is 40-45 K Country-india

OP 13 (if it drops to ~40-45 range) vs OP 13R vs OP nord 6 vs OP 15 R (is it worth the extra money?)

Which one to buy

Hi I will be joining my first job in August and looking for new phone.

Requirements: performance, decent camera, good battery life n all (basically idk what I want so maybe an overall phone)

Budget: around 40K (not a hard constraint if specs are worth it. )

I was thinking about onePlus nord 6, 13R or 15R. Not limiting myself to oneplus but yes I have a slight inclination towards it.

Need your suggestions on:

  1. Which phone to buy out of these? And your reasoning for the same (13 R is good but 1.5 yrs old already, nord 6 looks fine fine, is 15 R worth the extra money?)

  2. Any other options better than these?

  3. What would be a good time to buy this? Any sale or offers incoming? Before August 2nd week?

PS: I am from india

MBB vs Software roles at top tech firms

23M, graduated from one of top 5 IITs. I am working in one of MBB firm at a UG entry-level position (front-office). Although this is what I always wanted for the better part of my college life, now that I have the offer and see the comp structure, it has me wondering about the comps of my friends placed at tech companies in SDE/DS roles. Average SDE companies pay better than MBB (purely from a wealth perspective, taking cash + stock options into account), and even the base salary is higher.

When I compare MBB with top tech firms, the difference is quite large. Looking at the career trajectory wealth-wise, most of them will be SDE-II in 3-5 years, making around 60-70 LPA (with a much better WLB than MBB at any level). Even knowing all this, I fail to understand: why do people still choose consulting, and why is there so much hype around it? I've seen people with crazy coding skills (who could have landed quant or HFT roles or Sde at top companies) choose the consulting route instead of tech. Why do people in SDE roles do an MBA just to get into consulting? I am aware of the perks and exit opportunities, but is there anything I am missing?

PS: I am talking purely from a money-making perspective.

I understand the impact of AI on tech side (though I've seen this trend even before the AI boom) and the work satisfaction reasoning for some, but I am looking at this strictly with a money mindset. I'd love to hear responses comparing top tech roles (SDE/DS in MAANG) and a MBB trajectory.

5-10 years down the line (assuming we make moderate to best-case switches in both trajectories), who would be earning more? Or who would have accumulated more wealth by then?

I understand my question might seem a bit naive, but this is a genuine doubt I have.

Just to summarise my asks:

  1. Why consulting over tech (purely from a money making perspective)

  2. How does the pay/wealth changes in 5-10 years trajectory (sde/ds at top tech vs MBB)
