"Klaxonner" means "honk". I'm sure Louane had a good night.
My parents have sabotaged every attempt I’ve made to build a career, and I don’t know what to do anymore
I don't know where to start here... as a kid, I was always very skilled in technical domains. I showed a lot of aptitudes in robotics class in high-school, etc. I had Legos as a kid that I mixed in a bin and I would build my own inventions out of (including a working gearbox). My parents never encouraged me for it, never congradulated me for anything I built, in fact they were trying to make my life difficult by often confiscating my Legos, having a strict cleaning schedule forcing me to destroy some of my builds, etc. It was hell.
But all that is fine, it's in the past, I'm over it. But the same pattern is repeating today, and in a much more serious, absolutely fkn ridiculous way.
I always loved electronics so I developped a lot my skills in it. In fact, I have become quite good at it, despite my parents trying to prevent me from working on my electronics in the house, claiming I didn't know what I was doing and would set fire to their house (bruh). I didn't care, did it anyways, tolerated getting yelled at for it, etc.
Eventually, I became good enough that I made a premium, very competitive device in the hi-fi industry that became quite successful. I made almost 6K$ of net profits in two months at only 19 years old. How did my parents respond to that? By literally blocking me from accessing the workspace I was using to manufacture my product. They wouldn't even let me manufacture my (small, no heavy tools) product in my bedroom. Mind you, they are fairly rich and have a huge house, I was using an unused abandonned table in the basement. They were even charging me rent, 600$ a month, way before I was making any money and still had to invest in the R&D of my product.
So, I had to move out to keep my business going. Of course, my parents didn't help me financially with the move, I had to contract my full living costs at only 19 years old in this trash economy (living in Canada). Not only that, but unfortunately my business partner left me because they were not happy with my decision (not understanding what I was dealing with at home), so my business failed. I contracted a lot of debt before finally finding a job with my skillset that paid quite well.
Everything went well with my job for about two months, until my boss decided to fire me with absolutely no reason. I was out of options. So I tried building contact with my parents again, hoping they'd have changed. They were super happy, saying they'd be glad to have me back. They seemed very supportive, offering my own workshop in the house, even advancing me funds for an investment. The deal was clear: I was moving back in with them to launch a new product I have made and to develop complementary products, trying to build a career around it to eventually have the income to move back out. They fully agreed, said "we are willing to give you time" in an email.
Of course, this was all a performance, as soon as I stepped foot back in their house they knew they had control over me again. The rent came back, stupid rules like me not being able to close my bedroom door and 15 mins max of bath time (at 21 fkn years old) came, and they're pressuring me to reimburse the money they advanced me. Also, as you can imagine, the workshop promise was also a scam.
Now I'm completely stuck. They live far away from public transportation, access to the car they promised me never came, and I am fully reliant on them. I don't think I can build a career here as I already mentionned they have precendents of trying to sabotage whatever I build.
The worst thing? They're so fkn good at appearing as good parents to people around them that no one fully believes me. So I'm having an extremely hard time getting help, if not even anything.
Wtf am I supposed to do??😭 Do NOT say "just put your head down and work", heard that one before, and obviously with my situation it doesn't work
this has to be ragebait (its not it's my parent's house😭]
Just realized my previous photo was ass, here's a much better one😂
