What were the most impactful traitorious decisions made during the history of the Eastern Roman Empire?

John Katakouzenous VI making alliances with Serbia and the Turks to win against the Regency of John V Palaiologos but ravaging the Eastern Roman Empire beyond repair takes the crown but there are honorable mentions.

>Alexios III requesting aid of the Sultanate of Rum to attack the Nicaean Empire just because Theodore Laskaris rightfully refused his authority.

>Andronikos IV Palaiologos giving Gallipoli to Murad I and the Ottomans, allowing him to easily attack not just the Empire itself but also the rest of Eastern Europe.

I'd like to know if there are more incidents in Eastern Roman History beyond these.

Jaadugar has a noticable tendency to omit certain historical information for narrative purposes.

Jaadugar has a tendency to omit or briefly mention actual history events without proper explanation and making the Mongol Empire look like they attacked everyone for no reason but conquest.

Which may be intentional given how the POV is usually Fatima and Toregene, the two protagonists who utterly hate the Mongols because they were victims of their conquest who lost their happiness at their hands.

Why did Mongols defeat and unite the tribes of Mongolia? Why did they invade other nations? Why did they invade and brutalize the Khwarizem Empire? Why were the Merkits and Genghis engaged in a cycle of warfare and revenge?

The anime and manga never elaborates about these and only those who know about history are aware of it

It's amusing to how different the reactions of people who are knowledgable about history and those who aren't regarding this anime.

Especially with some people praising the Merkits for wanting to fight the bitter end and refuse to be slaves of the Mongols when they are usually portrayed as ruthless and persistent enemies who kidnapped and raped his wife Borte and Yesugai'a 2nd wife Sochigel.

Was it possible to avert the 3rd Punic War and have Rome bring Punic Carthage into it's fold like every other city or state it defeated in war?

Obviously, the idea that Rome would turn the city of Punic Carthage into a Roman state with it's people and infrastructure intact someday like it did with every other tribe, city and state it fought is impossible given it's historical circumstances but I'm genuinely curious if there are any faintest evidence that this could be possible?

Why didn't the Silthers nuke Dimitri during his own route the moment he was a threat to them?

The moment Cleobulus was killed by Dimitri, Thales should known how dangerous he is and just nuked him and the The Holy Kingdom of Faerghus.

Instead, he stupidly risked his life by leading the attack on Claude and Alliance and had the indignity of dying to Dimitri without him realizing he was responsible for his suffering and the Silthers being an irrelevant factor in the final stages of the Faerghus and Adreastia conflict.

Were knightly charges truly superior over the "normal" charges that non-knight heavy cavalry use?

Usually, a knightly charge (the couched lance) considered far more devastating when compared to other non-knight heavy cavalry like Eastern cavalry like Byzantine Cataphracts but is that really true?

Even without a lance, you still have the momentum of the rider and the horse capable of impaling or knocking a person away at a considerable distance.

The Elbaf Arc will be concluded with Sommers and Killingham's deaths at the hands of Zoro and Sanji and Gunko removing the portal to banish Imu from Elbaf and permanently end any attempts to conquer the giants.

Even if Imu is forced to retreat due to some unknown limits when he goes outside of the Holyland, what's stopping him from coming back or sending even more Holy Knights to force Elbaf into submission after the Straw Hats will inevitably leave?

Gunko is the key to resolving the conflict, it might be likely that her unknown eye ability might be able to remove the portal that Harald created in the castle in order to banish Imu and permanently prevent any more attempts by the WG to conquer Elbaf. Imu is too busy with Luffy and Loki to deal with her and he is physically present and thus cannot possess her.

Before that happens though, Imu needs to be weakened for a bit as he's throughly beating both Loki and Luffy and that will be accomplished with Zoro and Sanji using Advanced Conqueror's Haki to finish off both the Holy Knights Sommers and Killingham. This prevents Imu from being anticlimactically beaten too early or made to look like a pushover but sets the stage for his inevitably downfall in the final arcs to come.

Gunko will likely have her immortality removed by Imu but since she was young when she became a Holy Knight, she'll only revert to her true age as an old woman and have enough character interactions with Brook and reveal more lore about Imu and the Holy Knights.

Here are some photos of Satou Futaba, author of the manga Anna Komnene promoting her work in two separate events.

The first 3 images are from a book signing event promoting the release of Vol.1 as part of the Anna Komnena Birthday Celebration in Japan.

The last 3 images are from a talk and autograph session event promoting Vol.5, where the author Satou Futuba started the event with a live musical performance that included three songs related to the work, including a lament for the fall of Constantinople, the capital of the Byzantine Empire, then a discussion where talks about her travels in Anatolia and Constantinople while she shows photos of her trip and after that interacting with her fans during the autograph signing.

What do you think of this 2004 Chinese TV series about the life of Genghis Khan?

Pros

-Covers the entirety of Genghis Khan's life unlike most adaptations I've seen adruptly ending after he had united all the nomadic tribes of Mongolia.

-Ba Sen's portrayal of Genghis Khan is excellent.

-Covers the more obscure events and details. Do you know that the Kereits and Naimans practice Christianity and the show has them makes the sign of the cross and mention Jesus and Satan? The Mongols using chinese gunpower weaponry? The Baljuna Covenant that symbolizes Genghis Khan' loyalty beyond tribe and even racial ties?

Cons

- Offscreening the conquest of the Xi Xia dynasty. The Mongol Empire's first submisiion of a settled nation.

- It's expected but the Tv series noticably tone down or changes some dark events. The very first and glaring change is Yesugei saving Hoelun from the Tatars and the Merkits thinking he abducted her instead of actual history where he really did abduct her. For Genghis, the his Khwarizem campaign is still brutal but they tried to tone it down by omitting some of the more unheroic stuff like forcing citizens to become cannon fodder for siege battles.

-The severe lack of horse archery during the massive battles. You only see the Mongol side attacking with their swords and charging the enemy and somehow winning. This gets ridiculous when they fight the Jin Dynasty armies in which one army of theirs outnumber the entire Mongolian army muster by Genghis.

Despite the flaws, I consider this adaptation to be the definitive portrayal of Genghis Khan'' life so far.

Which popular shonen manga would likely have gotten axed if it was released under today's SJ?

Given how it's first four volumes sold below 30k, I find it unlikely it would have been allowed to continue after that if it was released today.

Why didn't Western Europe made use of the Wagenburg when compared to Eastern Europe?

The image is from Divci Valka,a historical manga set during the Hussite Wars. It's a very dark manga but well-researched.

Anyway, the Wagenburg developed by Jan Zizka was so influencial that it not only was Eastern Europe was making use of their tactics but also the Ottomans, the Persians (through the Safavid Empire) and was even used as far as India (when Babur, founder of the Mughal Empire, used gunpower weapons the Battle of Panipat).

But curiously, Western Europe never seemed to have caught on to the Wagenburg. Why is that?
