Hi everyone,

I'm hoping to relocate to the North County area—ideally Encinitas, Carlsbad, or Oceanside—by the end of January from Las Vegas (earlier if I can secure a position with relocation assistance). I've been researching the area for a while, but I'd love to hear directly from people who live and work there.

A little about my background:

- 12+ years in IT, primarily supporting healthcare and hospitality organizations.

- Experience ranges from Help Desk/Desktop Security Support to Systems Administration and Systems Analyst roles.

- I've worked with Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, virtualization, networking, endpoint management, application support, EMRs/EHRs, POS systems, and cross-functional project work. I enjoy troubleshooting, process improvement, and bridging the gap between technical teams and end users.

I have a few questions for locals and anyone working in IT:

- What's the current IT job market like in the area(s)? (Carlsbad, Oceanside, Encinitas, Del Mar, La Jolla, San Diego, etc.)

- Are there particular healthcare systems, hospitality companies, or other employers that have a good reputation?

- Is it realistic to find mid-level Systems Administrator or Systems Analyst positions locally, or are most opportunities centered closer to San Diego?

- For those commuting from Carlsbad or Oceanside, how manageable is the drive if the job ends up being farther south?

- If you've relocated to the area, is there anything you wish you had known beforehand?

I'm also interested in general relocation advice:

- What are some neighborhoods you'd recommend in or around Carlsbad, Oceanside, Encinitas? (We have visited multiple communities in the area, my wife and I want newer apartment communities that are closer to the beach, 10-15 minute drive at most)

- Any companies that provide relocation assistance?

- Are there local networking groups, tech meetups, or professional organizations worth joining?

I'm looking for a place where I can build a long-term career and become part of the community, while raising a family of three to four (Wife, kids (Future), and myself). Any advice, recommendations, or even warnings would be greatly appreciated.

We have visited the area several times and are very set on northern San Diego, we are wanting a 1-1 or 2-2 apartment between $3,100.00 - $4,000.00 monthly. Is this realistic?

Hi everyone!

I just want to share a story regarding my experience about EDCLV 2026. *Quick Recap* I live in the area therefore I was waiting closer to the event date before purchasing any tickets. Tickets had been removed from the official exchange site and Sunday tickets became unavailable the week of EDC. Frantically, I was messaging every post I saw on Saturday as we had already missed Friday. I had gone to will call attempting to seek for tickets either being resold or directly sourced from insomniac, no luck. Had many people respond of subreddits and marketplace but, no luck. I nearly gave up on finding an authentic source since 90% of the people I would reach out, did not want to meet at will call for an official exchange or seemed like a straight scam. I was devastated, annoyed, and irritated as the chances of attending this year looked slimmer and slimmer by the hour.

On Saturday, after EDC had already started, I got a response from a person on Facebook market place of two AA wristbands being sold. At first glance, I felt like "it was too good to be true", specially reflecting the price listed at. I mentioned to my partner that I may have struck gold, but to not let her hopes up as all access wristbands were given to a limited number of people.

I continued with the marketplace conversation, built trust with the seller and I decided to meet up for the exchange. We met outside of a parking lot, exchanged stories, and made a friendship that I think will last a lifetime from that 10-20 minute interaction.

We headed back home, got ready, and arrived at the parking lot at exactly 01:47AM (Right as the fireworks started). I was still slightly scared of whether the wristband will work at time of entry, due to horror stories I hear online of wristbands not working. We walked over to the industry entrance, went through security check, and scanned our wristbands for entry.

My heart dropped of joy, I couldn't believe after years of manifesting to be guest listed or being granted AA for EDCLV, I finally get to enjoy the fruits of my manifestation. From the artist longue, to stage access, I truly felt like the universe was reminding me of the power my thoughts have when it comes to the lifestyle I desire. It was such a beautiful weekend, with such fulfilling memories surrounded by my idols and the people that I love most.
