My father, who is a baby boomer and Catholic and only watches CNN, MSNBC, sometimes NewsNation, etc. surprised me today when we were having a discussion about modern society and how depressing it is.

As we were chatting he said “and now we have these beings flying around, how can religious people deal with knowing we’re nothing, like ants…” I stopped him and asked him to clarify.

My mom jokes, oh he’s into the UFOs now. And he explained (paraphrasing) “well you see it on the news, these videos of UFOs - we’re like ants to them, it’s like we live in a zoo, how are we as a society supposed to deal with that…” he then went on to talk about AI and how miserable it is that creatives like musicians or artists have to compete with it, but I was so shocked that he just casually weaved in UFOs in to the conversation.

We’re talking someone who grew up as a devout Catholic, going to church every weekend. He’s not an avid internet user, has no social media, never has gone on Reddit. And he’s talking like UFOs are a fact, not fiction.

TLDR: my boomer Catholic dad is now a gauge in my mind for the disclosure movement

Society doesn’t make space for people carrying trauma.

Many of us are quieter by nature.

Wary, slow to trust, flinching from loud voices and sudden noise. We don’t smile easily or wear our hearts on our sleeves.

And yet the world, especially the workplace, demands relentless cheerfulness. Be outgoing, be optimistic, be “on.”

I’m fucking not. I am sorry. And I shouldn’t have to perform it to be treated as whole.

I don’t really get it and would like someone to explain to me

Vampires need explicit invitation to walk through a door.

For me, I need everyone to be extremely explicit that I am invited to have lunch with them, or am included in a conversation, etc. hence why I probably have no friends at work.

I will never insert myself to a conversation or sit down at a table with other people because I don’t feel welcome unless someone spells it out like: Hey OP care to join us?

Why does he step on something that makes him explode? I don’t get it. If he didn’t step on that thing would he still be able to be saved?

Why is he inside the abstraction? Are all the characters inside their abstractions? Or was that unique to a newly abstracted person?

None of this makes sense to me and I think it’s dumb that it’s not explained

So are the abstracted characters in the blobs? In the darkness can they enter any of them? If they tried to enter Jax again would he be gone?

I couldn’t really understand from the terrible English subs but this confused me. Are they trying to rehabilitate the abstracted characters and reverse the process or are they grotesque pets now in tents and fish tanks? Is that the point, Goose choosing a tent (like a circus animal) or an aquarium (a pet prison) ?

Why can’t Caine fix abstractions? Why can’t they go in the code and try to fix it?
