Interpreting NAIDC results and recalls?

Have a few questions about interpreting rules/recalls for adults and in general:

https://www.naidc26.com/comps/adults

  1. Assuming the O40 adult teams have each member age 40 and older and U40 likewise, age 40 and younger? What if the team is a mix of people above 40 and under 40? What determines the placement of where a team is in this case?
  2. Is it me or are some of the adult categories only featuring 1-2 teams each, or will more be posted? For instance, adult mixed 4H O40 only has two teams--Iris Cairde and Richens Timm/Columbus Celtic Dancers? (Category 72)
  3. Finally, saw someone mention a dancer "finished as the next to recall", just assuming that is the one place directly adjacent to recall position. It was a dancer who was newer and at his first Nationals and he did great.

West Campus or Buckeye Lot? Got hired as a temp worker for OSU, but not actually OSU employee.

Go Bucks!
Looking at all sorts of options, am willing to walk a little. Work is 8a-5p M-F near the Wilce Health Center.

Starting to narrow it down a little bit. Would you suggest the west lot/shuttle or the Buckeye lot north of Campus? I've already been looking at campusparc's site and trying to figure it out. As a contractor I'm not an OSU employee so am probably limited on what I can purchase. My temp agency says I'm on my own, they aren't going to help.

Best of luck to NAIDC dancers in O-Town! Two random questions below.

  1. NAIDC notes the event in Orlando is a competition AND a conference. What is the "conference" part in this case? Or does that just include the vendors, teacher meeting, etc. and other related activities that are not competition-related?

  2. In the syllabus, how come there are no Senior Men U22 and Senior Men 22 and over? The break point for men is U20 and 20 and over instead?

Not a big deal, just curious--love our crazy, weird sport! I'm still learning new things every day. So many arcane details and little things to keep track of.

CVS mobile browser won't let me confirm appointment but desktop does!

Has anyone run into this issue on mobile browser (NOT the app itself)? Am able to set up an appointment for MinuteClinic on Chrome browser on my android phone but when I go to hit confirm nothing happens. The button just flashes but does not advance to next screen.

Did it on desktop and it went through, no problem!

How much slower should I run versus lactrace? Using 10k of 42:29 now as baseline.

Saw this on another forum, but it was noted lactrace is too fast. I ran a 42:29 10k and put in the corresponding paces. Got a VDOT of 48.4 (4:22/km or 7:02/mi for ST). How much slower should I go? Attached interval charts in both km and miles.

New 10k PR-42:29, very humid conditions--thank you, NSM!

I AM A BELIEVER IN NSM.

Ran a 10k PR on Sunday, in 42:29. Hilly course. Very solid PR in difficult conditions (75'F, 70% dew point, 70% humidity). Opened up in 21:15, closed in 21:14 (A very solid -0:01 sec. negative split).

I had trained on and off last year with NSM and used a coach. However, that coach didn't really believe in NSM and had me do workouts like 1 up, 9 miles at goal MP, 1 down, then a long run the next day, 2 rest days here and there, and progressive runs. I got sick on my taper and had an ear infection. Ran 1:3x in a downpour marathon that fall, took time off and I needed to reset. I reverted to walking in October and November. Plus I was dealing with a divorce and other things.

As you can see in the graph, I trained the old way and saw gains but tapered too much in October and I think that was a reason for the ear infection. Started off 12/11/25 with a reset and slowly worked my way to NSM and 45-50 mpw. Three workouts a week, not quite 90 mins. total. But comfortably hard and repeatable. The graph this year is a slower rise but more sustainable.

  • 3x9 or 3x10 Mondays
  • 3x9 or 3x10 Wednesdays
  • 2x9 or 3x6 Fridays

EZ runs on Tuesday and Thursdays, 9:05-9:40 pace. Saturday long runs are EZ, 14-17 miles, sometimes I will make Friday EZ and just incorporate 2x5 to 3x5 at ST within the LR itself. Off Sunday or recovery Sunday (10:0x pace). My NSM paces were no faster than 7:35-8:05 pace on these longer sets. Sometimes I'd do something like 5x6 or 6x5 at 7:25-7:30 pace to change it up, but only 10-20% of the time.

When I ran my 10k PR Sunday, everything just fell in place. I opened up at 7:20 pace uphill the first mile and worked my way down to 6:50 pace, then crushed two 6:30s in miles 5-6.

The hardest part was walking after and NOT slowing down, for fear of a dehydration cramp. Ate a banana and drank Gatorade. I had fueled on the course but there was not enough fuel in my Maurten powder to fully stave off cramping. I should have put nuun tablets in my handheld like I did last summer in Grandview (two at miles 5 and 9). I finished that race with NO cramping and it was hot and humid that day!

While my fitness is technically not where it was last summer yet, I feel faster and more durable doing this method. I'm always keen to "stay in the gray" and not go green, etc. It's nice not having to worry about deload weeks or crazy track workouts.

My only problem is I wished I had discovered this training method years ago!

Saw a cool logo on my run today. Not sure if it's from a Columbus school or just neat art?

Has anyone seen a logo like this before? I didn't even see it on the East Side of Cbus, it was in a northern suburb. It was on the side of a crate. Looks like a rat but not sure.

Admin asst. transitioning to legal assistant roles in the future. Encountered two situations with two firms--both turned out to be weird. Should I avoid them in the future?

Was laid off from an admin role a few months ago and have been door dashing since. Background is journalism, communications, admin., customer service. There are two law firms that could have been opportunities but both had weird situations. Should I just head back to school and get a paralegal cert so I'm more qualified to apply for these jobs in the future?

Law firm A: They told me a few months ago they wanted me to work for them after I asked about admin asst. roles a few weeks before. I told them for sure, and the owner remained in contact with me over the next 6-8 weeks, asking me to be patient. They told me today that they couldn’t get me on and there was no timeline. They “couldn’t make it internally.” But they had been messaging me to be patient, etc., and even gave me my starting rate and some of the benefits of the firm. Was disappointed but that is what it is.

Law firm B: While waiting on law firm A and applying for other jobs, a legal assistant friend of mine got me an interview for what was supposed to be a LA role to a crazy but fun attorney last week. No problem! The current LA in that role was headed to law school and was checked out, not paying attention, always on his phone, etc., making matters worse.

Got another interview a few days ago with head of firm. Turns out they want to hire two people to fill the need of the firm, but the role is no longer the admin role it was sold as.

It’s more of a paralegal role, researching case law and filing court docs. Boss said he will answer questions even if I get them wrong and can explain why I got them wrong, but he’s not going to train me much. He expects me or whoever takes the role to train him or herself on case law. Throughout the interview he emphasized self-learning and having initiative, which is fine to an extent, but if you don't have any background at all that could be an issue.

He also said he’d go through as many people as he could until he found the people that could help his firm. The firm did a top-down assessment in the week between first and second interviews, and noted litigation was their weakest spot, so they need people to help with worker’s comp claims. Is it a thing where you can be a "paralegal" without training per se? It sounds like Firm B wants to get paralegal-level work at an entry-level rate? I am willing to take initiative but researching case law is hard, and I don't know what I'd be looking for. Unless there are law firm LA jobs where you have to train yourself, for the most part. He emphasized this during our interview, self-training is a big thing.

The goal is to also improve customer relationships with the firm so clients get as much $$ from Ohio BWC. That part is fine--I like talking to people. The current LAs have predefined roles and tasks, whereas this one is expected to be strategic and know/understand law quickly WITHOUT a paralegal cert and classes, and piece together data to ensure a winning strategy for collecting comp for a client, etc.

Also, if Firm B does make an offer next week, should I take it or leave it, based on the above info?

tl;dr version:
Law Firm A promised me a role, updated me but ultimately couldn't make it work.

Law Firm B might have a role, but it is more of a paralegal "self-training" role and not a traditional admin asst. role with defined tasks as originally presented. Role definition changed in one week's time.

Thank you all!

Is there a delay for items to show up on the news feed? I will post but sometimes things don't show up for 3-4 days on news feed

Someone mentioned this awhile back, but is there a "queue" for people posting in the news feed? I will post something and it doesn't show up for 3-4 days before people like/comment on it. It used to be more organic and viral. Likes are down and so are comments.

Why am I getting the same likes from the same 3-5 people EVEN THOUGH I don't go to their walls/profiles?

Not a big deal but I am getting the same 3-5 people liking my posts each time. However, I don't interact w/them much on FB either--I don't go to their walls/profiles or chat with them often. They are cool in real life, no issues there, but I still don't talk to them often (an aunt I see every 1-2 years and a church friend I see every 3-5 mos).

  • No violations on my profile (green checkmarks)
  • I don't over-post, maybe 1-2 posts a day with either photo/video
  • No politics or controversial bait posts

Even worse, I'll space my posts out and get ZERO likes, but others will post a pic of their kid and it gets 40 likes within a few minutes. Even though I know I'm not spamming the system either every few hours so I'm not pissing off the algo in that regard?

Does the algo shadowban people randomly for random time segments just because? Or is this a case where I need to get lucky at creating content that gets likes/reactions right away and then get a snowball effect?

Do men need to improve their education levels to remain competitive in the workforce with women and also in the dating world?

I have read several reports that men are lagging behind in college/university education compared to women. Even on my LinkedIn many of my posts in my feed are from high-end professional women in C-level careers, such as banking, media, HR, medical and finance. Do more working-class men need to pursue college to keep up? White collar jobs require, at the bare minimum, a BA/BS degree. I know it is anecdotal but I've seen this on my LI for quite some time.

Having a good career, in some cases (but not all) should help men in their quest to be the protector/provider. I also know not everyone is on the same path, etc. But being financially stable post-divorce would improve your odds after dating.

Did many of you starting NSM and after reading the book start with shorter distances before tackling marathon? Have seen people jump into NSM and do a block for a marathon using sirpoc's book with success, but others have said to do it for 1-2 years at shorter distances. What have you seen so far? I've done it a few months and am getting used to pure vanilla. It's nice being able to run well and recover, etc., then do it all over again in 48 hours.

Have a '15 Corolla and one of the backseat screw things is loose that attaches the seatback to the trunk. I have tried to google "backseat carpet retainer clip", "seat retainer hook" or "trunk retainer clip" but I get different parts, including floor mat hooks, etc. Does anyone know what this part is actually called?
