Overwhelmed by breast pumps!

I will preface by saying this is my 2nd pregnancy and am not new to breastfeeding. I’m 30 weeks and got the paperwork from my OB’s office to get my insurance-covered breast pump. With my first, I used the Spectra S1 and also the Willow Go wearable pump. I loved the S1, but after moving twice since then, I cannot find my S1 for the life of me. I’m so upset. My insurance will cover a majority of it if I choose to get it again but I wanted to hop on here to see if there are any other pumps that 1-up the spectra s1 that I should look into? I am open to any options but preferably not a wearable one since I still have my Willow Go. Thanks all!

New to plants. Gifted this Alocasia.

Hi everyone, I am new to plants and was gifted this alocasia for my birthday. I do not know ANYTHING about plants whatsoever or what I need to do to keep it healthy except for not overwatering them. So please, no judgement! I would appreciate any tips for how to care for it.

As you can see from the photo, the small leaf on the bottom is yellow. It was already yellow when I received it. Is this bad? Can it be saved? Also some of the bigger leaves are dripping water from the tips. I have not watered it at all yet. Is this normal?

Do I need to re-pot it? And if so, how do I do this?

4 year old dealing with diarrhea now for almost 48 hours

Our 4 year old started having watery diarrhea yesterday morning. It was really bad for all of yesterday— he was going every hour, it seemed. He was pretty lethargic all day and tried pushing fluids. This morning, he improved a lot. He only went a small amount in the morning and had no episodes throughout the whole afternoon… until right after dinner he had a veggie stir fry (his request) and I think that irritated his gut again. Almost immediately after eating, he started having the watery diarrhea again. Within the last 2 hours he has now gone twice. He is acting normal. Still running around and playing. I’ve been trying to push electrolytes still, but he’s only had small sips throughout the day. Ideally I know he should be drinking more but he’s refusing to drink more. He has only urinated maybe 3 or 4 times that I’m aware of. He doesn’t seem dehydrated. He’s still producing tears and isn’t complaining of being thirsty or dry mouth. So he appears normal.

Does any of this warrant a visit to urgent care or the ER? We are in the US.

Raging appetite

28 weeks and wondering if any other moms have a huge appetite lately?? Like I feel like I can eat my entire fridge in one sitting. I know they say pregnancy makes you hungry but I’ve been eating every meal like it’s my last meal ever 🥲 I also recently came back from vacation in which I pigged out literally every day. I have definitely gained quite a few pounds I’m actually kind of nervous to go into my next prenatal appointment 🫣

My 4 year old might need a partial tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy

We took our 4 year old to see an ENT today. Our son is a mouth breather, occasionally snores, grinds his teeth at night, has allergies, and some speech issues. However, despite all these issues he is a happy kid. Super smart. Never complains about any of these ailments. He is also healthy otherwise. Super active. Meets all milestones. All of these issues are things that my husband and I picked up over all these years. All of these issues led us to see ENT.

Basically, the doctor wants him to do a sleep study. His tonsils are “massive” according to him. Regardless of the results of the sleep study (which will be conducted in August), he also wants to possibly do a partial tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy. He pretty much said he’s worried about sleep apnea because that can be an issue as the brain isn’t receiving enough oxygen. And even if it’s not sleep apnea, the large tonsils and adenoids could be affecting his quality of life, hence why he struggles with speech, allergies. teeth grinding, etc. So essentially the surgery would just make them smaller instead of removing them completely.

I have heard horror stories of young kids getting tonsillectomies and having issues with bleeding afterwards and some were even fatal. The doctor was reassuring me that because they’re not removing everything, that the recovery is much, much better and the chances for things to go wrong is minimal. He also tried reassuring me that he does this surgery often on children his age, some younger. But that still doesn’t make me feel any better. Just the thought of our toddler going through surgery this young is terrifying regardless. But I also am aware that things like sleep apnea are serious issues that need to be addressed. I also don’t want to hold him back if this surgery will improve his quality of life. That would make me a terrible parent.

I feel like I’m being pulled in two different directions. Does anyone have any input, advice???

Photo frames

Looking for a company similar to MixTiles but better quality? We rent and want to hang some photos up on our wall without nailing a hole. I do like how MixTiles just stick to the wall but I’ve read terrible reviews about them. I know we can just DIY it ourselves and use command strips but I like how convenient it is going through a company where I can just upload the photo and choose a frame all in one place. Any recommendations?

“girl toys” for a boy and vice versa

I wanted to know what other parents think about giving toys to their kids meant for the opposite gender? Not like intentionally going out of your way to pick something out for the opposite gender, but if your child sees it and they say they want it? Today we were at Disneyland and our 4 year old son saw the Little Mermaid bubble machine and said he wanted it. I personally have no problem with it and I was about to buy it for him, but a family member with us made a comment about it that it’s “only for girls.” I tried to explain to them that it’s not that deep because he’s only 4 and has no concept of boy vs girl yet. He knows that boys and girls have different anatomy but that’s pretty much the extent of it. He doesn’t understand gender norms yet. He is the same way when it comes to wearing my heels or pretending to put on makeup. He sees me doing it and wants to copy me but I don’t stop him. I figure it’s good for him to explore different things but my family members seem to think it will confuse him later on in life. Thoughts?

Edit: I wanted to add since some were asking if I ended up buying it for him. The answer is, no. He ended up finding something else he wanted instead so I asked him at checkout that he had to choose one or the other and he went with the other. I would have still ended up purchasing it for him had he wanted it. The family member then made another comment saying, “Good you made the right choice” 🙄

Does your baby favor one side in the womb?

With my first, he preferred kicking me on my left side. I had an anterior placenta, This current baby prefers my right side and seems to always favor that side. I currently have a posterior placenta. Anyone else?

Just drank the glucose tolerance drink

Currently sitting in my car after drinking the glucose tolerance drink. Have to go back in approximately 45 minutes and it feels like my heart is beating out of my chest 😭 I feel so disgusting. And feel so thirsty too but can’t drink any water according to the phlebotomist.

Edit: I survived! At about the halfway mark I started to feel a lot better. Going to go treat myself to some Chick Fil A now 😂 Hoping I pass

I just attended my 4 year old’s (just turned 4 last month) pre-k open house and his teacher displayed all of the kids crafts that they’ve been working on lately. One of them was a Mother’s Day craft and at the bottom, there was an area for them to sign their name. I peeked over at a couple of the other students work and saw that a couple of them were able to start writing their own names. My son’s signature on the other hand was just a bunch of scribbles and squiggly lines. His class has kids ranging from 2.5-5 years old. Is writing their own name expected at pre school age? I got home and started to overthink that maybe I’m not practicing writing with him enough. But his teacher has never mentioned anything about him being behind in that.

Hi all, next month we will be taking a trip to Florida from California to go to Disney World and Universal Studios. I’ll be 25-26 weeks by then. The trip was planned before our plans to get pregnant lol. It’ll be super hot/humid during the time of our trip from what I know so I’m a little worried how the pregnancy may make it a little difficult. We’ve been to these parks a couple times now but this is my first time while pregnant. Are there any places in the parks that anyone would recommend to relax if need be? Things I should make sure to pack? Or just general advice?

Currently 20 weeks pregnant with a 4 year old. He’s in school 3 hours/day Monday-Friday. He also goes to speech therapy once a week and swim lessons twice a week. I try to keep our days busy by taking him to the park, walking around the local mall, taking him to the gym daycare, or organizing play dates with friends, go to the library. We usually have at least one thing planned each day. He also does get daily screen time (we try to limit to 30 mins- 1 hour a day max) and he also does quiet time daily. But days like today I literally just want to stay at home and rot. It makes me feel so guilty though because I know he will be upset if we just stay at home all day but I am truly exhausted. I am slowly coming down with a cold that he gave me. Being pregnant makes me even more tired. He usually wants me to chase him around the house but with round ligament pain and just the overall feeling of being pregnant, I am not up to it.

What do you other moms do when you just don’t want to do anything?
