We want to shout out the new comers that recently lost access to the community they called home. We accept you with open arms but don't think you'll be accepted with out proving yourself, and those that have been here for a while, make sure you show them the ropes.

A special thanks to those who are concerned with me well being enough to inform reddit. They provided many resources to reach out too that I can share, but alas none of them were a picture of a sub 5k playerbase so I must wait.

Was playing Marathon this morning and ran into a squad in Cryro of people who claimed to be from this subreddit MarathonHate. They shouted various racial slurs and called my friends and I "blast havers." We absolutely gamed on them, but I was wondering if this community has now gone to such lengths as to buy the game and play enough to put together a cyro kit. I guess so -- they seemed pretty representative of this community.

Update: I don't care if you believe me. My friend and I have it recorded. He's a YouTuber with a modest following, so I'm let him use it for content if he wants. Quite an interesting bunch you will have representing you!

Im posting this on here to hopfully get a little traction. Id like to stsrt by saying I enjoy marathon on almost every level and wish I was playing it currently.

So during the free trial week, on psn the deluxe edition was on sale for CAD$19, i was playing during the trial week, really enjoyed the game, saw the deal, and bought the game. Call me an idiot if u want but even tho I thought the deal was to good to be true, I saw that in the description the base game was included. So I said why not, its a great deal. I tried downloading the full game but it said it was already downloaded? Weird, but ok. The trial version must be the full game with content locks or somthing. I wait until the trial week is over, go to hop back into the game and it says thanks for playing the trial, to play please purchase the full game? Very weird but ok, let me do some research... come to find out that psn store had a UI issue, so I didnt actual purchase the full game, just the deluxe edition upgrade?? No no no, the description said the base game was included! Do a little more research and a bungie dev puts out a statement saying that anyone who purchesed the deluxe edition on PSN befor the store was fixed will get the base game. Great! Ill just wait until I get sent a game code or my license restored or whatever... that was 2 weeks ago. Contacted bungie, they told me to go to playstation, contacted playstation they said to go to bungie. Finally after a week of back and forth playststion says I cant get a refund because ive technically used the content and bungie wont send me a game code because they say I purchased after they fixed the UI issue on psn. That is a lie, blatantly and I have screenshot and photos to prove it. They didnt change the store UI and the description until almost a full week after the devs statement. days after the dev had said it was fixed. Days after they said anyone who purchsed befor thr UI fix would recive the base game. After doing more research on bungie help forums and other sites, almost no one who purchased the deluxe edition during the trial week has received the base game. hundreds of people are in the same boat as me, stuck in limbo with our money in the void, hoping we will get access but each day that goes on this story and our money is getting swept further under the rug. This isnt right. And not enough people are speaking up on it. I dont know what to do anymore. Ive basically been told to get fucked. I really like the game, I want to play it. But im at the point where ive exhausted all my options in regards to getting access to the game on my own, thats why im turning here. Im hoping if this can get some traction and get more voices behind it maybe bungie will take notice? Because as of now theyre trying to sweep it under the rug and succeeding.

Tldr, I purchased the deluxe edition on psn during the trial week and STILL dont have access to the game. Im being told I only purchased the deluxe edition upgrade, but the base game was in the description AND on my emailed recipt. I contacted psn and bungie, both told me nothing they can do. I am not alone and ive exhausted my options. Wondering if anyone has experienced the same thing but received access to the game? And im hoping that by posting this maybe I can bring more eyes to the issue so it isnt so easily swept under the rug.

This Week in Marathon Hate

We need to address the elephant in the room, we popped the champagne too early for the sub 10k player count . the number is getting closer every day, but we haven't hit it just yet.

we want to go over some changes to the PvP and discuss nerfs and buffs

it looks like there are a lot of players are using "yall are sad" or its equivalent more than we expected when going into the PVP matches in the comments, so to counter this we have buffed "look at the player count." to show what ad really looks like,

along with the buff, we are implementing nerfs to "chud", "incel", and "neckbeard" as these have been used ineffectively when trying to make a point.

this sub has become home to those who have been banned from other subs, due to their critical stance on Marathon, when this happens you are more than welcome to post that this has happened to you, but this is not to be celebrated due to breaking rules that might create copy cats. so we will have to manage these post if they are too celebratory we will have to remove and inform you to re upload with less fanfare.

lastly I want to reiterate this sub is not political anything pertaining specifically to the left/right and their political overlords is not welcome here. keep politics out of video games.

So much of what you see here is either a clip of a clutch play that has 25 upvotes, or some opinion on how someone feels about the game but they only have 10 hours, or some valid but tiring call to action on something that Bungie needs to address.

I love this game, I have hundreds of hours in it, but lately the subreddit itself is just low quality. I used to follow it enthusiastically, but it’s the same stuff every two days. It’s great for new folks I guess. But it’s stale and contains the same conversations that repeat over and over for months. Every once in a while we get fresh submissions but it is kinda the same repeat topic of the same 4 things (clip, is the game dying, game dev expert gives their opinion, I am quitting post,)

Kinda getting stale as a lover of the game,

Ive played 15 matches back to back and have died each one. Getting sniper across map in HEAVY FOG but they can see me plain as day. Footsteps arent registering right. Hell a vandal just killed me by double jumping on a roof. I couldent hear any of it. I dont care about dying or gear but it feels like the game is stacked against me all the damn time. Sorry, just wanted to vent.

For all intents and purposes I'm completely normal when I'm not playing Marathon. In real life I'm polite and well mannered. I hold the door for people. I say yes ma'am and no ma'am. I'll give up my seat to someone that needs it more than I do. I'll give my spare dollars to someone that asks me for them. I let people go in front of me in traffic. I put my cart back when I'm done with it at the store. But when I'm playing Marathon, everyone can get fucked. I only derive pleasure in this game from knowing that someone else is unhappy.

I'm well adjusted when I play other games, even when I play PVP. I don't teabag. I don't grief. I don't do anything toxic. If anything I'll go out of my way to help or contribute meaningfully. I've been sitting here wondering why I only enjoy ending other people's runs in Marathon. I think I figured it out.

It's because there's no meaningful overarching progression. I don't care about titles or a codex entry. I need something tied to gameplay that carries over. I understand seasonal resets, believe me. If there was an eternal server that seasonal progress retired to, I'd feel differently. But as it is now, nothing matters. I can only get my satisfaction from knowing that someone else is suffering. Honestly, I just want all of you to be as miserable playing this game as possible.

I'm not trolling you or rage baiting you now. I'm not trying to get a rise out of you. I just think I actually hate this game, but I paradoxically enjoy setting other players back or hearing them get upset.

I wonder if Bungie will do anything that makes me feel differently in the future. I hope they do.

And there's nothing in my life that's wrong. I'm employed. I have a beautiful family. I own my home. We can afford everything we need. I'm healthy and I don't have any diagnoses. I don't have anything about my life that I would like to change. The only thing I would change if I could is making this game better.
