Laptop prices are insane. Even used is insane.

My current laptop from 2022 is failing (which I bought USED in 2023) for $350. There was a bunch around then for a similar price.

Fast forward to now, and the cheapest functional laptops of the same model is now MORE than 350!! I say, SURELY this is due to supply and demand and maybe my used laptop model is just that popular.

I go and check out the prices for new laptops.....BRO. WHAT in the god damn hell is going on with these monstrous prices. What a scam of an era we're living in that all these entry level laptops are >$1000 and semi decent laptops are approaching $2000.

To think that a used laptop from 2022 no longer depreciates and rather appreciates, and new laptops costing this much, these companies need to be luigied along with all the insurance ceos. What in the absolutely shitstain scam era are we living in?!?

Is there a utility for the 20x objective?

Just wondering if anyone likes or uses the 20x objective for any reason.

I usually do 4x,10x,40x,100x

I imagine, it might be useful for scanning for a particular cell when I don't know what to look for. 40x could take too long. 10x isn't good for individual cells.

The center shifts after each increase in magnification

I have a Nikon eclipse 50i.

If I put a dot in the center on 4x, then on 10x, the dot shifts up, then on 20x it shifts up more, and then 60x it shifts off screen.

Is that normal? I thought it should remain in the center.

And I've tried adjusting the condensor to center at the 4x, but it didn't help.

Best way to describe it is that the center of 4x ends up at the TOP of the 10x. And if I center the 10x, it ends up at the top of the 20x. And if I center the 20x, it ends up at the top of the 60x. I'm not sure if this is a normal feature or a shift in something I need to adjust

Don't necessary be so fast to wish the end of a bad situation.

I was thinking, how the US has been declining with poor job market, corruption everywhere, and how I work long hours, lost so much on failed investments, etc. And you ask, when will things get better? I constantly have the feeling of needing for hell to be over; for time to go faster to go to a better future; and a mental fixation on anything but the present whether it be a past or an imaginary future.

But as a mid 30's guy with parents in their 70's, I realized something. For every year I wish for this hell to end, I am also 1 year closer to my family and parents dying. And I realized, I would endure an endless amount of hell to be in a time period they would be alive. Evil is endless, but our parent's lives are finite. So many people had the passing of a parent or other important family member say they would wish they could go back in time and see them again. Yet for us who live in the current moment where they are indeed alive, we focus on the context of our shitty artificial environment.

If you are so focused on waiting for the end of your bad situation, you may one day wake up and realize you lost something even more important.

Bresser TRM 301

Anyone use this microscope know if it's good. Seems well built. Some good prices on ebay and new is over 1K. Uses 160mm instead infinity though. Objectives are plan acromat. Abbe condensor. Though often incomplete objectives. Considering buying generic chinese objectives.

My main microscopes at work are nikons and olympus, e200, e400, 50i, Ci, and the olympus BX models which are all high end.

But i'm a broke pathology resident with high rent and messed up investing, so i got like $250 - $300 for a used scope for some home study on slide recuts. And even the used nikon e200's are usually over $650-700.

So just wondering if anyone the Trm 301 know if its decent.

Why are so many nikons sold used with everything except the stage?

I see so many used nikons with everything but sold without the stage

And there's barely any used stages but the darn piece of metal sells for more than the entire rest of the microscope. Complete madness that the darn piece of metal costs $350+

Gemini can't see my desktop when in samsung dex

Is there a way for gemini in samsung dex to see my samsungdex screen on screensharing?

Currently, even when I click "share screen" on samsungdex, it defaults to using my phone screen.

The trope of EM is for ADHD people makes no sense

I have ADHD. I know it's a joke about EM being ADHD, but reality is the literal opposite of what you want. You need a person that can focus within the mess.

If you put me in an ED environment without Vyvanse, I wouldn't be able to do anything. ADHD doesn't mean you can do many things at a time. It means you can't do ANYTHING that requires constant switching. My short-term memory would be so shot and full of the surrounding noise that I cannot hold a single thought in my mind. It's absolutely overwhelming just being in the space. Much less see patients, I'd be stuck reading the same sentence over and over again. And every distraction would make me start over. Nothing would get done.

Med school EM rotation was like being in hell. Everyone was nice. My preceptor knew I had matched at the time, so I barely did anything. But man was the few "easy" stuff he made me do impossible while being in that noisy messy place.

Is pathology spread too thin?

just ranting...will delete when i'm less frustrated.

How are US pathologists compared to global pathologists? Given our residency is so diluted.

And a fellowship still puts us with less total time in a subspecialty than any other pathologist globally.

Consider how clin chem is like 2 months. Micro is 1 month.....we do a validation project, but 1 isnt enough to be proficient at lab validation in the middle of rural US without a phD there for support. Transfusion is ok, depending on the residency.

AP, CP heavy programs like mine suffer in AP. AP heavy programs suffer in CP.

Its just too much. We end up knowing less than the MLS, MT, PA's, blood bank tech, some experienced tranfusion nurses, etc.

If we disappeared off the face of the earth, i think CP would still function.

Social interaction burns me out, and being alone feels lonely

It's like an oxymoron where it's damned if I do, damned if I don't.

It's hard to pinpoint what it is. I have some great friends, yet everyone's moved away, including me. We stay in touch a lot.

But even so, if I'm tired from work, I'd rather sleep than talk to anyone.

And the simultaneous feeling of loneliness starts up.

Anyways...speaking as a 33 year old guy who has never been in a relationship. I can't pinpoint whether this is due to lack of general social interaction or specifically with intimate relationship. I also fear being in a relationship and the time commitments.

Only thing I can do is continue to climb the societal ladder.

I hate acronyms.

Everyone needs to stop using acronyms, especially the ones that don't even show up on google, you just pull it out of the ass as like new variety of tapeworm.

"Now let us put an end to that which binds us together"

Ganondorf in windwaker has lived a long time. And he's mellowed out. He knows something is wrong which he mistakingly calls "Fate" which is actually demise's curse. This ganondorf doesn't kill zelda or link and explicitly states "don't worry, I won't kill you, I merely have need of that which you possess [triforce of courage]". All he wanted to do was destroy demise's curse. This ganondorf in his old age just wants the torment to stop. He's like a convinct that had been imprisoned [literally] for his entire life, and comes out a changed person.

I really wish ganondorf just talked it out with zelda and link and only resort to violence if they still didn't comprehend. Better yet, he should just live in peace with them. They're still children, they'll grow up one day and understand. And then they can break the curse together.

Never noticed this.

In OOT when fairies fly, they DON'T leave a trail of sparkly dust .

Think about it. The pink fairies in the fairy fountain don't leave a trail of dust when they fly....until it tries to heal you and it dies.

Then look at the end, with Navi flying away. Has navi flies around you all the time but doesn't leave a continuous trail of dust like that.

I think that confirms Navi is dying in that moment. She's literally falling apart. I think this definitively proves she died. Its likely she didn't even live for a minute after this. She probably died the moment she reached the top, but link was blinded by the light and didn't see.

Everyone else feel uncomfortable with their saggy neck while studying?

It's excrutiatingly annoying that my neck has been increasingly saggy as I get older and year after year, as I lean over to read...and now to both read, look at scope, screen, and all, it's terribly uncomfortable that the saggy skin of my lower jaw, cheek, and neck feel so heavy and it feels like an invisible gremlin is pulling on my face constantly.

Anyone else know how to deal with this. It's really really uncomfortable.

Does Gigai need to poop?

I just noticed...that one gikon in Rangiku's gigai that was obsessing over that guy in the store was drooling. That means they have biological function.

That means gigai need to poop and pee? Do they need to eat? If so, then they're not just a shell for shinigami to occupy, but they're basically functional bodies.

If a shinigami was born in soul society and never needed to poop before, if they entered a gigai for the first time, would they piss and shit themselves because they were never toilet trained?

A human child goes through a lot of effort to learn to control that sphincter.

Do they need oxygen? They piled all the gigai in ichigo's closet that one time. Do they neeed to shower? Do they smell bad after time?

Anyone remember the Namco arcade in Lynnhaven Mall?

It was my favorite place out of all the malls in the area as a child.

I'm sad I have no pictures of it. Does anyone have any pictures of it or remember it?

Are these all in ones on amazon worth it for a busy professional with no time to drive to a gym?

I'm a resident doctor who works long hours. I'm barely awake as is all the time and I'm fat, out of shape, and my only joy in the day is eating as much food as I can when I get home before I crash for a few hours and the day starts again.

I'm trying to get back into it without destroying my already nearly empty bank account.

Do you think this is a good value for price gym?

Does it cover all the muscle groups necessary for good workout?
