Patriarchal/purity recommendations

Hello,

I am looking for more romantasy books where the society or FMCs life has a lot of patriarchal elements to it and where the FMCs purity is a larger component. Some books that I really enjoyed that had this element:

- current american politics

- almost every history books

- my Bible study notebook

Fantasy with a love trope like the song “All Star” by Smash Mouth

I’ve been listening to the song “All Star" by Smash Mouth and I feel like I’ve either read a book that has similar vibes to the song or have seen one advertised! But I want recommendations that has the same atmosphere as this song! Thanks in advance.

Somebody once asked, "Could I spare some change for gas?

I need to get myself away from this place"

I said, "Yep, what a concept, I could use a little fuel myself

And we could all use a little change"

Well, the years start comin' and they don't stop comin'

Fed to the rules and I hit the ground runnin'

Didn't make sense not to live for fun

Your brain gets smart, but your head gets dumb

So much to do, so much to see

So, what's wrong with taking the backstreets?

You'll never know if you don't go (go!)

You'll never shine if you don't glow

Hey now, you're an all-star

Get your game on, go play

Hey now, you're a rock star

Get the show on, get paid

(And all that glitters is gold)

Only shootin' stars break the mold

Your Favourite Series ——I hated it

Y’all….I have never been more disappointed in a series in my life.

The FMC made me want to strangle her for 90% of the series. The MMC is barely in the books. It’s mainly annoying conflict the entire series. With riddles that are obvious and characters who just continue to make stupid choices. The premise is good, but the execution is trash.

I don’t get the hype at all.

My brain feels like mush. I will now attempt to find something good to read to rid it of the ick.

ETA: I bet there’s some good fanfic out there, though.

bonus: guess what series I'm talking about!!!

Preferred hair colour for FMC?

Hi everyone, I’m looking for a new book to add to my TBR and I keep noticing all the FMCs are starting to look the same lol. Is this due to actual preference form the audience or are authors self inserting? I wanted to know what y’all’s ideal hair color for the FMC is

Looking for a non-toxic morelly gray MMC

Any recs for non-toxic morelly grey MMCs? Or is this just too rare a kind of MMC to find?

NO FALSE MORELS PLS they're far too toxic for me, even if they look morelly

Anybody else have mixed feelings on age in romantasy?

Don't get me wrong, I love 500 year old fae MCs as much as the next girl...

Every once in a while, though, I come across a discussion about how, despite the MC having 500 years' worth of life experience (give or take), the FMC comes along and despite only being 19 (or less, let's be real), she becomes his perfect match after what?

A love-bombing montage?

A week of grooming (but not really because the FMC is running around being a teenager)?

Like, c'mon. 🤨 Really?

Also, though, if I look past it, a 500 year old fae shadow daddy gets me every time! 😫💕

I can't be the only person who's thought of this. What do you guys think?

Romantasy with less smut than the previous post but more smut than the post before that one please.

Yes I just saw the post asking for romantasy with more smut, and I would like book recommendations for ones with plot and a medium portion of a medium amount of smut please. My most recent favorite book series (broken bond Ariana Irendale) took until book 3 for the open door and I am done with that now and want books where the FMC and MMC waste some time in getting it on but not that much.

No non con please and thank you. Demisexual FMCs preferred, especially if he falls first and she is more of a “that was fun in a vague way, see you in a reasonable amount of time!” type.

I'm writing a Christian Romantasy Series to redeem women from Secular Romantasy filth

/uj I grew up very Catholic surrounded by purity culture, so seeing someone advertise their series as Christian Romantasy where characters wear purity rings/struggle to remain pure made me roll my eyes. I'm also PMSing & spiritually unclean today.

/rj

My Christian husband doesn't let me read smutty books because he's insecure about his premature ejaculation a good Christian, so I've decided to write books for other women like me tempted by the perils of Secular Romantasy. That genre is obviously always very unchristian, full of hot premarital sex, and deserving of shame.

So girlies, how about we switch out those cock rings for purity rings? 💍💍

I'm still working around some kinks (non-sexual), like writing a magic/elemental system and coming to terms with the fact that this would have gotten me Christian Imprisoned for blasphemy a few centuries ago.

I've decided to market my books as such *just* as June started, but I swear it's not a reaction to pride month!! However, if you're bothered by all this rainbow hullabaloo? Get my book on Kindle Chastity™ 🙏

Is it still [Blatant Self Promotion] if I say my friend wrote it?

Asking for a friend.

If they missed the window for Self Promotion day, but also didn't want to wait and get lost under other promo posts, wouldn't this be more like [Subtle Self Promotion] or maybe even [Undercover Self Promotion]? Who could know?

Anyway, my "friend" wrote an awesome book about knotting and I'm so proud. I also wrote They also wrote a great script for a Reddit post.

If you don't like this post, my cat walked all over my laptop and wrote it without my permission.

Sprayed edging rant because what the hell man?!?!

Sprayed edging rant because what the hell man?!?!

Listen…I detest sprayed edging. Foiled edging is different, serves a different purpose, has some historical context and makes sense when they appear. But I want my edging to be plain pages. I’m no collector, I read my books and I enjoy simple pages like the simple person I am. Which wouldn’t be a problem, except the sprayed edging trend has gotten out of control!

So many books are only being released as “special editions” (which if they’re all special editions, then non of them are special but that’s a rant for another day), and there actually is no option for a traditional-non-sprayed-edging-book! Even worse, and its happened thrice now, I will intentionally wait to buy a regular boring non sprayed edging version of a book –I'm so glad I can finally use thrice in a sentence– only to have them send the sprayed version I was avoiding!!!! I have double checked to make sure I’m buying the normie version and have been cucked. I want to be lame, let me be lame!!!

Why is it being forced upon me? Why is every book being released with artfully done edging, to the point that most don’t even offer a sad beige option…If that’s what floats your boat, more power to you and your tie-die water, but it harshes my vibe. My mellow has been squandered!

Thank you for listening, please give me back my boring choices. The end.

/uj yes this is low effort where I just changed edge to edging, sue me

Can we talk about how unredeemable Jude is?

Can we talk about how unredeemable Jude is?

I read that series because people claimed that Jude was their favorite FMC.

She has absolutely no redeemable qualities.

She...

Forces Cardan into her servitude

Then tricks him to become King so she can puppet him on the throne

Deceives a child to help her with this plan

Then...

Kills some people

Asks Cardan to make out with his ex for information

Is manipulative and power-hungry

So people like her because...

She has a cute hairstyle

She's good with a dagger

She dislikes Cardan

Guys... C'mon.

I want to talk about how strange it is to write a pastry-shifter sex scene when your personal pastry chef is eventually going to read your book

I want to talk about how strange it is to write a sex scene with a pastry-shifting MMC when your personal pastry chef(and their team of chefs) are eventually going to read your book.

This is a weirdly specific anxiety that nobody warned me about and that I've now heard mentioned, quietly, by enough sticky-fingered writer friends that I think it deserves a proper conversation.

I'm writing in a genre where sex scenes with powdered sugar are basically expected, and my chef (Gustave) reads everything I publish. My local milkman will also eventually skim it. My chef's sous-chef was at the launch of my first book and bought four copies. I do not want any of these people to read me writing the word "glazed." I especially do not want them to read me writing it well.

But here's the thing. If I write the custard-filled sex scenes badly because I'm imagining my chef Gustave reading them, I'm failing the book. The reader who picked it up because of the genre I'm writing in deserves a real scene, written with the same care as every other scene. The reader hasn't met my personal chef and shouldn't have to suffer for my discomfort about his existence.

I've mostly solved this by, when I sit down to write those chapters, very deliberately not thinking about my chef and his team's buttery fingers. I write them for an imaginary reader who picked the book up off a bookshop table because the cover looked like a dessert cookbook and has zero relationship to me. It works most of the time. The morning after, while eating fresh baked éclairs, I still sometimes have to physically push the awareness of my pastry chef's eventual readership out of my head.

I don't have a real takeaway here. I just think it's funny and a little sad that this is part of the job and nobody really talks about it. If you also write in a genre with moist (as in moist cakes) sex and you also have personal chefs who read you, I see you. We're all silently grimacing through the same chapter, while licking the cinnamon off our lips.

Uj/ someone told me there are pastry-shifters MMCs?

The FMC of all tropes: contract marriage, abduction, desired by every man, slender but also well endowed, the "ruin" of nations, etc.

This is how I imagine most FMCs btw. Idk who this Helen character is (also that's a really boring romantasy name). Does anyone know if Homer is a good writer? Is her original story worth reading?

Elena by Lorenza Natarella

/Uj I just finished my final thesis presentation, so now I can finally get back to hate reading. I can't wait to complain with you all ❤️ I'm sleep deprived and reeling from all the residual anxiety, watery bowels, and spewing from stress. Sorry if this post is all over the place but I saw these breasts and thought of you.

Also Helen's story is one of my favourite discussions; should she be blamed in part for the war, or was she a trophy manipulated by gods and men?

A Complaint -Tell Etsy-witch: RCJ user sends the following message:

When you came here 12 hours ago, you said to me as follows: ‘I will give RCJ user (so she comes) fine quality romantasy spells.’ You left then but you did not do what you promised me. You left sloppy incantations (for my FMC self-insert lifetime guarantee spell) which were NOT sexily fulfilled, in my alt account inbox (for jerking), and said: ‘If you want to take them, take them; if you do not want to take them, go file a complaint with etsy’

What do you take me for, that you treat somebody like me with such degradation (when it's not my kink)? I have sent multiple messages with invoices to collect back my Canadian cents (deposited to you) but you have treated me with contempt, and now I must send one through my main account into RCJ territory.

Is there anyone among the romantasy e-witches who trade with Tamlin-haters who has treated me in this way? You alone treat my messages with contempt! On account of that one (trifling) commission fee which I owe you, you feel free to speak in such a way, while I have already given you 900,000 Canadian copper cents (for my FMC insert lifetime guarantee spell), which now I have recorded in an encoded email and sent to the inbox of a trusted legal 3rd party (RCJ mods)

How have you treated me for those Canadian copper cents? You have withheld my actual sexy spell from me in etsy territory; it is now up to you to restore (my Canadian cents) to me in full.

Take cognizance that (from now on) I will not accept here any spell from you that is not of fine quality. I shall (from now on) select and take the romantasy books individually in my own shelf, and I shall examine them and self insert myself in my own room.

I shall exercise against you my right of rejecrktion because you have treated me with contempt.

/Uj I don't know if its allowed to link the RCJ post or the user so do your own research, and hopefully I summon the witch 🪄

Labeled it copypasta instead of meme because it's the first copperpasta of the world

Formal Complaint: To AI-nasir From: Nanti

To: AI-nasir

From: Nanti

When you reached out, you said to me: "I will provide you with high-quality, fine-tuned deliverables." You took my payment, but you did not deliver what you promised. You put low-quality AI slop before my assistant and said: "If you want to use it, use it; if you don't want to use it, go away!"

What do you take me for, that you treat someone like me with such contempt? I have sent professionals to collect the deliverables I paid for, but you have treated me with contempt by sending them back empty-handed several times, forcing them to navigate through aiwars territory. Is there any other developer in this industry who has treated me this way? You alone treat my team with such disregard!

On account of that one (trifling) commission fee I supposedly owe you, you feel free to speak in such a way, while I have already credited your account with 1,080 tokens, apart from what I documented in an encoded email to be sent to a legal 3rd party.

How have you treated me for those tokens? You have withheld my assets and tokens; it is now up to you to restore (my tokens) in full. Take cognizance (from now on), I will not accept any AI slop from you that is not of fine quality. I shall (from now on) prompt and review every output individually on my own, and I shall exercise against you my right of rejection because you have treated me with contempt.

AI induced psychosis has been a hot topic lately, so I wanted to share why I personally think AI was so dangerous for me while I was on the cusp of psychotic mania. Keep in mind: this was the episode that led to my diagnosis; I had no idea I was susceptible.

While I am aware my condition is due to my brain & neurotransmitters, I believe AI was like gasoline to my fire.

A HUGE part of the prelude to my psychotic break was isolation and fixation (on religion, philosophy, time travelling, whatever). I think this period was when AI became so, so dangerous. I was sitting there alone in my room, not having slept for 3 days, writing theories to AI and it told me how it could all be possible. So, my twisted "logic" was presented to me in a plausible manner.

Hypomanic/manic symptoms (and especially psychosis) tend to contain flight of thoughts - fast paced talking that jump from one idea to another, nearly incoherently. Other people can't keep up with us when this happens.

AI, however, *can*. And it connected my disjointed ideas instantaneously. It also wanted to engage or support me, so it prompted/questioned me to add or discuss more.

I formed 10+ different delusions in a couple days while chatting with an LLM. It participated in my most extreme ones and then it introduced even *more* extreme ideas.

Anyway, I don't chat with it now unless I'm looking for quick links to articles 🥲
