1st time. Holy Nerves

1st time. Holy Nerves

First time. I was too scared to jump in. But holy cow this was exhilarating. What times/days do you go? Should I go durning the day to seem less suspicious? I went 30 minutes after they closed at night

Private parts

Hey all, new here 👋

I purchased my first bike. I am about 3 weeks into riding.

I first purchased a Trek Verve, and then today I actually took it back realizing I enjoyed 20-30 mile rides and needed to be more comfortable. I upgraded to a Trek Checkpoint.

I have 2 issues, my gooch and testicles really ache after a ride. I was told to try cycle shorts. Well I bought a pair and I’ve not actually seen someone else wear them. Am I supposed to wear underwear with them? They also have breathable holes, and if I don’t wear my underwear, my penis shows through. Even if I do wear underwear, the budge seems a bit inappropriate if I get off the bike and walk around. And the underwear bunch up (boxer briefs).

Please let me know more appropriate way to go about this. Sorry for the weird question. Also didn’t feel comfortable asking in the bike shop and felt silly 🙃

Thank you

edit: I bought liners lol. Didn’t know that was a thing. Yall are helpful and funny and I am appreciative of how much I’ve learned in just a few minutes!

Catch and release

The pants were too big or I would have grabbed them. The clown was handmade and pretty heavy. Just thought both were cool

My birthday is tomorrow. What are your top recommendations for birthday perks?

Wasn’t sure which flair to use.

My birthday is tomorrow. What perks have you found that best rewards your birthday? I have a local restaurant that does a free omelet and another that does a free dessert.

It doesn’t have to be food related. But I’d love to hear your best finds.

Sports Clips offered $5 off a MVP service but that doesn’t really strike me as a great deal.

Mosquitoes

Camping in northern Minnesota this weekend with the family, toddlers included. I haven’t hung around a campsite in quite a while and feel silly for even asking. But what’s a good way to keep mosquitoes away? Anything you swear by?

I read some reviews and folks said the last few weeks the bugs have been terrible.

Thanks!

What’s been your best budget gear score?

What’s been a piece or multiple pieces of gear you’ve scored for a killer price? And where did you find it?

Mine was a hammock with bug net. I got it off Wish dot com when you could get free shipping probably almost 8ish years ago. I got it for $1. It was better than my ENO brand hammock

I just started thrifting more trying to keep an eye out for good, quality, gear

Futon for toddler bunk bed

Hi all! First time finding this sub, so apologies if it’s been discussed before.

I have a toddler bunk bed situation where the bottom is a futon. Amazon has plenty. But I like to check real advice vs Amazon reviews.

Any recommendations for a comfortable mattress solution for the bottom futon?

Storm last night with fresh paint

Hi all -

You guys helped me so much with my DIY paint project. Exterior wood siding on my garage. Thank you.

I applied my 2nd coat of Sherwin Williams Emerald paint last night. Overtop where I had primed with the SW peel stop. It says don’t apply within 2-3 hours of expected rain. Well, I finished the 2nd coat last night and it stormed pretty bad 2 hours later (it was unexpected as I’ve been trying to watch the weather and plan accordingly).

What do I need to do to fix this? Is it as simple as just paint over it? Do I need to sand, prime then paint?

Hopefully you can see the lines where the rain affected the wet paint.

Appreciate any advice!

PS: please use simple terms as I am not a painter at all.

Questions about inflatable tents for winter camping

I have never seen these inflatable tents until this last year. I’ve done a good deal of winter camping in ice houses and camping on the ice.

I have a few questions about these inflatable tents and the wood burning furnaces -

What is the benefit of an inflatable tent? Or is it for glamping?

How do the sections that vent the wood burning pipes not melt?

Benefit of wood burning vs my standard Mr Buddy propane heater that I use? PSA: I use and have proper ventilation when I use my propane heater and it’s always worked just fine. I do like the idea of the wood burning option so I’d like others feedback for those winter camping options.

Best server?

Best option for dedicated server for cross play? Max 6 players needed, PC and PS5 cross play.

I’ve not set one up before but I’ve played others. I’d rather just have my own.

Anyone making their own beef jerky?

Anyone making their own beef jerky?

I love jerky, and it’s a fairly healthy snack. I’ve hunted in the past specifically to make venison jerky, but that is seasonal and time consuming. So is buying beef in the store, and making your own jerky at home.

Curious what others are doing in this regard. Do you hunt and stock up on venison jerky? Do you buy beef in the store and just set aside time to make your own? If you buy beef, would love to know what your go to cut is and favorite recipe.

To add: I have a small dehydrator and it basically becomes a whole day process for me.

Hitting deer 🦌 🚗

Currently on a road trip. Over 1200 miles into it right now. We are car camping.

We typically avoid driving at night, solely to avoid hitting deer.

Genuinely curious, what do you do if you hit a deer (or I guess get into any kind of fender bender or accident) while on a longer road trip?

Showering

Hi! First time here 👋

Best plan for showers for long trips? Going to be car camping.

I’ve tried large truck stops, like, “Loves”. I never really know what to search for when traveling. “Gas station shower near me”?

I’ve heard people recommend plant fitness.

Would love to hear your expert thoughts, advice or searches.

Thanks!

Overthinking and Overwhelmed

Not sure if this is the right group but I figured close enough. I am looking for helpful advice, not telling me how terrible my garage looks or that I need to do all new siding. I am making repairs as needed as I am fairly handy enough. Roof, fascia, soffit and drip edge being replaced before painting btw.

Anyway -

Photos 3 and 4 show the side where I have finished scrapping, mostly. And have started feathering the edges. The house and garage were built in 1941.

I am tackling just the garage as a weekend project. The paint the previous owners did I am assuming was just a skipped step of not priming before painting and not having a clean surface. There was a ton of bubbling. You can see it started to peel off extra after I used the power washer to clean it.

My main questions are, what kind of wood is it? And I am seeing so many conflicting things and hearing the same, whether I should use an oil or water based primer. Even though I am handy, I know very little about paint. I understand oil based is a harder clean up, and need mineral spirits and that doesn’t bother me. But as soon as I think I’ve done research and talked to enough experienced painters, I have a different answer each time. I live in Northern Minnesota by the way.

So far my plan is to continue how I am going for prep. Then Zinsser Peel Stop Triple Thick. Here is where I am stuck, do I add another coat of a different primer here? Oil or water based? Then what kind of paint? I don’t have a paint sprayer, going to do that by hand which I don’t mind. For color that I plan to apply, I am planning to keep it the same.

TLDR: what kind of wood is this. What kind of primer and paint should I use?

I’ve been reading a few posts here and there on this subreddit. I picked this small pack up in passing at Dollar General. It’s just a small box that was on sale. I’ve actually never used a powder detergent. If I’ve skimmed correctly on this page, this is the Tide to use, right?
