Questions about inflatable tents for winter camping

I have never seen these inflatable tents until this last year. I’ve done a good deal of winter camping in ice houses and camping on the ice.

I have a few questions about these inflatable tents and the wood burning furnaces -

What is the benefit of an inflatable tent? Or is it for glamping?

How do the sections that vent the wood burning pipes not melt?

Benefit of wood burning vs my standard Mr Buddy propane heater that I use? PSA: I use and have proper ventilation when I use my propane heater and it’s always worked just fine. I do like the idea of the wood burning option so I’d like others feedback for those winter camping options.

Best server?

Best option for dedicated server for cross play? Max 6 players needed, PC and PS5 cross play.

I’ve not set one up before but I’ve played others. I’d rather just have my own.

Anyone making their own beef jerky?

Anyone making their own beef jerky?

I love jerky, and it’s a fairly healthy snack. I’ve hunted in the past specifically to make venison jerky, but that is seasonal and time consuming. So is buying beef in the store, and making your own jerky at home.

Curious what others are doing in this regard. Do you hunt and stock up on venison jerky? Do you buy beef in the store and just set aside time to make your own? If you buy beef, would love to know what your go to cut is and favorite recipe.

To add: I have a small dehydrator and it basically becomes a whole day process for me.

Hitting deer 🦌 🚗

Currently on a road trip. Over 1200 miles into it right now. We are car camping.

We typically avoid driving at night, solely to avoid hitting deer.

Genuinely curious, what do you do if you hit a deer (or I guess get into any kind of fender bender or accident) while on a longer road trip?

$20 Hippie Style ☮️

2021 RAV4 Hybrid. $20 to make it level. I’ll toss an air mattress on there and that’s my 6 night stay. 😎

Showering

Hi! First time here 👋

Best plan for showers for long trips? Going to be car camping.

I’ve tried large truck stops, like, “Loves”. I never really know what to search for when traveling. “Gas station shower near me”?

I’ve heard people recommend plant fitness.

Would love to hear your expert thoughts, advice or searches.

Thanks!

Overthinking and Overwhelmed

Not sure if this is the right group but I figured close enough. I am looking for helpful advice, not telling me how terrible my garage looks or that I need to do all new siding. I am making repairs as needed as I am fairly handy enough. Roof, fascia, soffit and drip edge being replaced before painting btw.

Anyway -

Photos 3 and 4 show the side where I have finished scrapping, mostly. And have started feathering the edges. The house and garage were built in 1941.

I am tackling just the garage as a weekend project. The paint the previous owners did I am assuming was just a skipped step of not priming before painting and not having a clean surface. There was a ton of bubbling. You can see it started to peel off extra after I used the power washer to clean it.

My main questions are, what kind of wood is it? And I am seeing so many conflicting things and hearing the same, whether I should use an oil or water based primer. Even though I am handy, I know very little about paint. I understand oil based is a harder clean up, and need mineral spirits and that doesn’t bother me. But as soon as I think I’ve done research and talked to enough experienced painters, I have a different answer each time. I live in Northern Minnesota by the way.

So far my plan is to continue how I am going for prep. Then Zinsser Peel Stop Triple Thick. Here is where I am stuck, do I add another coat of a different primer here? Oil or water based? Then what kind of paint? I don’t have a paint sprayer, going to do that by hand which I don’t mind. For color that I plan to apply, I am planning to keep it the same.

TLDR: what kind of wood is this. What kind of primer and paint should I use?

I’ve been reading a few posts here and there on this subreddit. I picked this small pack up in passing at Dollar General. It’s just a small box that was on sale. I’ve actually never used a powder detergent. If I’ve skimmed correctly on this page, this is the Tide to use, right?
