trans inclusivity at Swarthmore?

i’m an mtf prospective student. i know PA varies county-to-county in terms of trans safety, and last i heard Swarthmore was in a pretty good place, but i want to hear it from people who’ve actually lived it.

how are the dorms set up? are they split by agab, or identified gender, or are they gender neutral?

is there a larger queer community on campus i can go to for support?

terrified of writing bad essays. already heard plenty of “don’t”s, what are some actual “do”s?

i’ve already heard a lot of advice telling me what NOT to do for my essays, which is helpful, don’t get me wrong, but i still don’t even really know what i SHOULD do.

this is especially bad for the personal statement, since i really don’t even know how to talk about myself comprehensively, or even what the personal statement is meant to be

Suicidal and Homicidal ideation are more alike than most people want to accept.

At their core, both issues are the result of the profound “breakdown” (not sure what word to use, exactly) of the mind. Both are ultimately just extreme responses to people being broken by outside pressure(s). And, often enough, enough to be non-negligible, the two coexist in a person suffering from either.

So then, why are there so many more suicides than homicides? It’s probably easier to cope with the idea of taking your own life than taking someone else’s, for the simple fact that you can consent to taking your own life.

Bit of a topic shift here, but to me this also explains why things like Columbine happened (using them as an example because it’s what I’m most well-versed in). This is, of course, an extreme example, but extreme examples are the ones which allow people to grasp the gravity of the topic. Eric and Dylan went into it with the intention of dying during it. It was as much a suicide as it was a mass killing. They couldn’t have one without the other. They finally broke after years of exclusion and mistreatment and (MOST IMPORTANTLY) not receiving any help.

I am of the firm belief that both suicidal and homicidal ideation should be treated the same way, and that people should not be shunned for suffering from or seeking treatment for either. The lack of available help for homicidal ideation and the way it’s considered so “unthinkable” and/or “cardinal” of an act is only making it worse. This is not meant to excuse or encourage either act; I’m only calling out the lack of support.

[TOMT] the three/four(?) stages of SOMETHING, two of which being “the grind” and “the shine”

i remember it being SOMEHOW associated with a$ap rocky, but i’m getting precisely nothing when including him in my searches, which makes me think it’s a general hip-hop/rap thing and not JUST related to a$ap rocky

it was either 3 or 4 stages, but i’m leaning towards 3

i know this really is NOT much to work from, but it’s been bugging me all day and this is all i remember

how did so many romance languages ALL evolve articles, and why are so many so similar?

like in spanish, french, and italian, there are articles like el, le, il, la, etc… how did all of them come about and why are they all so similar, especially when latin didn’t have articles?

hey i have a dumb question, can there be lightning strikes during a snowstorm?

i don’t see why not, but i’ve just never seen nor heard of it and think it would be really cool. moreover, i wanna see it in person at least once, so are there any places where it would be more likely to happen?

dumb question but can someone help me with cases?

a lot of the places ive looked have had case definitions that are too good for me to understand. i understand nominative, vocative, and i think genitive pretty well, but can someone explain the difference between accusative, dative, ablative, and locative? tbh i’m really struggling more with when to use which one than how to decline words (for now)
