Are Hook Knives required (UK)?

Self explanatory, gave mine away since I don't jump regularly but might do a single jump over the weekend and they are £50 at the DZ. Unless I can borrow one would have to buy one.

Why 200 jumps for a camera?

I think that if you cannot safely concentrate and focus with a camera on your head and perform a safe skydive without getting distracted by your camera, then you shouldn't hold a skydiving license at all.

I'd argue you should be able to jump with a camera after B license and be briefed on the safety concerns about getting it caught up etc.

Just my thoughts, feel free to disagree or share thoughts.

Anyone want to camp with me?

No I am not a crazy killer, I just want a camping buddy. I've never camped properly before and would love to go with somebody who knows what they are doing.

I am in Suffolk

HMRC doesn't deserve shite

Remind me why are we paying them near enough half our money, that we slaved away to earn? They are making free money offf of us and wasting it on shit.

What makes skydiving even enjoyable for you?

To expand on my question, why do you happily spend thousands on gear, tens of dollars on jump tickets and basically make it a life style? I am not saying that's wrong, because I do too! But how do you justify it?

For me it's the excitement of doing something different, new exits, new canopies, new DZ's, new people and new aircraft. I like being so high up in the sky and just falling in different ways! A different way of freedom.

I mean you get the hippy bunch who sleep on packing mats or live in RV's and I kinda respect that life style? I wouldn't mind RVing around the states, skydiving and base jumping. But I feel like eventually you'd lose interest?

Fundraiser for my dads cremation to help reimburse my mother.

Unfortunately my dad passed away from suicide on the 24th of March 2026. I did not include his death certificate on here, because it is mainly just personal info but can include if absolutely necessary.

We raised £500 + some money externally bringing us up to £1000 which paid for 2/3 of the cremation. I turned off donations, believing cremations were not that expensive. However, the cost was a little more than we thought, therefore we are aiming to raise a little bit more money to go towards my mom who is the beneficiary of this Go Fund Me, as she has very little support and has had to go mostly out of pocket on her own for the cremation.

Her mother died two weeks later from natural causes and therefore she has had to cover both cremations, which has put her in a really bad position.

We had originally planned to give him a funeral, however the costs were too expensive, so we decided to go with a private cremation and do something nice for him. I will be doing a skydive next week where I drop his ashes under parachute since he wanted to join me in getting his skydiving license. This only costs me £25 for anyone curious as I am licensed.

Any donations, big or small would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards,

Lewis.

Anyone else thinking of claiming asylum in the USA?

Not going to get into the reasons why, but just curious if anyone else is thinking the same way. Claiming asylum if I can't apply thru my family in the USA.

First time shooting a gun! :) Did I do okay as a Brit haha?

https://youtu.be/ECrX-prFdGw

I have always looked at gun videos and stuff and thought I would give it a go whilst in Florida. I am no gun expert but I figured I would pick it up fairly quickly. Anyways I wanted to see what you guys thought of my first time shooting an assault rifle. I've had a couple goes on some pistols and hunting rifles but nothing of this style haha.

This was at Riegs gun Shops in Orlando Florida! Absolute blast (literally) and hopefully when I move here I can buy one lol. Love the USA!

How do I get into RC planes "properly?"

My dad always built model planes and had all the kit & equipment, I grew up watching him fly and build these models.

I myself have had a 2.0m E-Flite Draco & a couple other aircraft. I picked up the skills from him so in terms of flying, I am naturally very good at doing so, and I understand the elements of RC piloting fairly well.

I am just curious, how do I learn to use the transmitters, bind them, receivers, servos and building my own models? Is there places to go and learn?

If you handed me a model and a transmitter, I would have no idea how to bind it which is embarrassing. I can only do the flying part haha. Even charging the lipo batteries, I have no idea!
