Like genuinely why get mad over this? Yeah they used AI but who actually cares enough about some announcement poster about getting a new elevator. Was your life so drastically inconvenienced by the fact that your HOA used some goofy AI cartoon for something they didn’t even have to do?

What is working sports events like?

Curious what a day working an NFL/NBA/MLS/MLB/NHL or even a world cup game is like. And for those in cities with more than one major sports team how do events generally differ? Thanks

Y'all notice how DICE doesn't really fix/balance anymore and just makes something else able to kill it easier?

Why balance when you can just make everything else unbalanced?

Those first four should get as much if not more attention than AI

Prominent media outlets watched by millions spinning fake or contrived stories, bot accounts upvoting/downvoting everything and the big one-social media algorithms designed to make people angry and keep them angry-have done more brainrot damage to society than AI ever will.

Redditors sure can champion the environment from...major cities?

Yeah that highway, subdivision and data center aren't any worse for the environment than the endless blocks of condos and high-density apartments where a couple thousand people cook, eat, leave their trash on the curb, party all night and lay concrete and brick over soil for endless amounts of mixed use buildings. Point is if the only greenery you can find is your rooftop garden or some weeds on the sidewalk outside your apartment/condo you're definitely no better for Mother Earth than a datacenter or highway.

Do you have a creative outlet/hobby?

I used to work as a dispatcher for PD and Fire, so I know for the most part most of your "you" time goes to family, working out, meal prep, rest/recovery and OT shifts. But I'm curious, do you or any of your coworkers in the world of emergency responders have any kind of creative outlet? Do you paint, draw, write, sculpt or anything along those lines? Thanks.

Tourist questions.

Hello! I am a tourist going on a week-long guided tour of your country in a few months. We'll visit most major cities including Ar-Raqqah and Idlib. The only other country I have been to in that part of the world before is Egypt, though I was a child then and I understand that is a very different country with different experiences. I had questions about Syria, particularly its more recent history and traditional/cultural norms which are or are not acceptable.

  1. I was formerly a soldier in the US Army, although I was essentially a truck driver for them and never saw war or went overseas. With that being said if the guide permits it on the tour would it be acceptable to take pictures with Syrian soldiers I see during my trip?
  2. I speak some Arabic from TV and a coworker from Sudan taught me other phrases and words. With everything that has happened to your country I sympathize with your people. I'm not Muslim, I'm not particularly religious at all, but is it appropriate to address people in your country with salam alaikum and phrases like "God bless you"? and "God protect you"?

Thank you!

Flock/ALPR Doomers

The cesspool which is my city's subreddit has lately been taken over by Flock/ALPR (automated license plate reader) doomers. For the unfamiliar: these are services which contract with a city or county to have cameras posted at strategic intersections and highway exits in a city which automatically read every license plates which drive by and alert law enforcement if stolen vehicles or vehicles used in a crime are spotted. These may also be used to track the movements of suspects or vehicles involved in a crime.

Everyone in my locality got up in arms when ICE used Flock once, completely overlooking how local police use them to find stolen cars and suspects in crimes on a daily basis (source: my brother works at a PD). Now it has turned into a crusade against AI tracking your every move (reading your plate) and invading your privacy, to which I point to the iPhone or Galaxy in their pockets and what all those apps have been up to for the past decade. Yeah, Google, YouTube, Meta and especially TikTok have more of your information than Flock could ever get. There are now multiple calls and bills being written for my city and other local areas to ditch Flock and-ofc because it's Reddit-support for vandalizing Flock cameras. Leave it to Reddit and doomers to completely overlook the usefulness of crime-solving technology which has led to the apprehension of violent felons and criminals because muh AI is evil and muh 1984.

Riser options?

My EXPS 3-1 is just a little too low for my nods setup. Yes I went backwards and had the NVGs before the rifle…it’s a long story. What are some budget but functional (won’t lose zero) options for putting my EOTech on a riser and getting the magnifier (Vortex micro) to line up with it while still having it be usable with a PVS-14? Thanks

Can you really look at someone and tell if they're carrying a gun?

And I'm not talking about the guy wearing Oakleys, Grunt Style t-shirt, 5.11 pants and Salomons in line at Trader Joe's. I'm talking about someone wearing otherwise bland clothing but you notice the way they're walking (not a print or bulge). Is it really possible to tell they're carrying a gun just off of how they walk or their behavior? And would that constitute probable cause for a Terry stop, etc? Related question: If you see someone wearing a sling bag you recognize as a CCW-designed bag does that create probable cause for a stop? Thanks.

S13 E6 "True Believers" pills at the hospital?

Not sure if this is the right place but figured I'd give it a go.

There's a scene at the hospital where the nurse gives a rape victim a choice between two pills, one to prevent STDs and the other to prevent pregnancy. I don't have a lot of medical knowledge/experience so I was curious 1. Is this accurate? 2. Would it be possible for the victim to take one pill then and the other pill at a future date? Thanks.

I worked at the firearms department at Bass Pro Shops. AMA.

Mods can delete if it gets out of hand, etc.

Rules: Not going to do a name and shame of my coworkers or any customers. Also won't say anything that'll get my former employer, myself or anyone else in hot water with the DOJ, etc. I won't tell you which store I worked at though that shouldn't be too hard to figure out. Obv not going to give out my personal info but open to PMs.

Yes I know about the wait time and how it sucks. I don't like waiting for stuff either.

To shave or not to shave for an interview?

I have an interview scheduled for a large SF Bay Area agency. I've seen male dispatchers for them with neatly groomed beards and goatees as well as officers with full beards. I'm also a former trainee with another nearby department not just coming from service/retail. I have a decent beard as well, since I'm just interviewing do you recommend I shave it off? Thanks.

Something y’all might find interesting…

Mods can delete if they don’t find it appropriate. Not here to promote but there’s a coincidence I can’t ignore. Given recent developments with PWHL San Jose I find it interesting that a book my Sharks fan cousin wrote over 3 years ago-which takes place in SJ-features not only a women’s pro team that plays at SAP Center but their name is Hammerheads.

He also wrote a book back in 2015 that mentioned the Sharks winning a cup and we all know what happened next year. Our family will now be addressing him as Nostradamus.
