These are my personal opinions on the independent web series I've watched (other than the bottom 3 I don't dislike or really hate any of them).

Also, yes, I know Spongebob isn't a video game character (but he's cool asf so I added him anyway as the only (or technically second) fourth party rep). I was also only going to give sonic 3 reps, but picking between which two characters to add would've felt like picking a favorite child, so I just added all of them.

Basically as the title states, This roster is a take on Smash Ultimate where only the characters created before January 1999 are playable fighters. It's partially inspired by those "If Melee (was the first game/had more dev time)" rosters I've seen, minus any new characters not playable in any smash game currently.

70+ fighters (Counting Echoes + Miis), tried to be unbiased both when deciding veterans and newcomers (Can't please everyone so it might be controversial, isn't a wishlist but instead a prediction of who could hypothetically return and be added in a future entry).

Mario = Fire

Luigi = Thunder

Dr. Mario = Ice

120 Playable Characters (78 Veterans + 42 Newcomers)

Some of the roster is predictions (Example; Ring Fit Trainee, Crash, and Kris), others are characters I personally want in (Example; Metal Sonic/Knuckles, Kamek, Blinky, and Impostor).

Tried to keep the cuts to a minimum (Mii Sword/Gunner aren't cut and share a slot with Mii Brawler)

A few moveset explanations;

Veterans; Everyone would mostly receive additional touch ups/quality of life changes, however some characters would have noticeable changes. Dr. Mario, Peach, Falco, Link, Dark Samus, Ken, and Richter would all be given substantial changes to differentiate them from their original/clone versions. Other characters would receive major reworks, including some of the formerly mentioned ones, but Ganondorf and Sonic would be remade from the ground up.

Newcomers;

Waluigi would use his tennis racket for certain moves, but his moveset would not entirely rely on spin-off titles like how most fans usually depict him.

Alph; Would use rock Pikmin to differentiate him from Olimar.

Metal Sonic/Shadow; both would have entirely unique movesets. It's actually so crazy how many fan rosters depict one of the two as Echo fighters, when there are literally moveset for fangames/mods where they play nothing like Sonic.

Peppino; (TL;DR Peppino is basically if Wario's moveset was changed to represent Wario Land) the easiest way I can sum Peppino up is how most fan mods change Wario's moveset to Wario Land. I like Wario Land as a series but it unfortunately being on an indefinite hiatus kinda makes it make less sense whenever Wario (in fan games/mods) represent Land instead of Ware, especially since Ware still receives games more consistently.
