Where can I get junk/diner/soul food these days?

Its been an insane loss lately. Martys, champs, modern love, toad style…not even to their own fault! Where the hell can I sit and enjoy some cheeseburgers cheese fries wings etc..?

Amended return refund timeline, probate complication.

Hi,

My deceased fathers tax person filed an amended return on some income that he was awarded that shouldn't have been taxed. It took SO long for it to go through that I totally forgot about it in the sea of nearly endless administrative nonsense with probate. I wanna say almost a year.

Fast forward, I got a letter in March that it was accepted and the refund itself would take three weeks, then ANOTHER letter in May that it would take 6 weeks. I can't really seem to get any of the online trackers to populate the status of the refund, I think because of the probate angle. Or I am just missing the right info in one of the fields. Do I put me or my father etc?

Anyway-- does this timeline seem reasonable, or should I try to follow up somehow? March - End of July?

Is the piroshki lady outside brighton beach stop still there?

I have it saved in my phone as “home cooking cafe” and it says permanently closed.

Its the lady outside with containers of piroshkis. Headed there this weekend and was telling a friend so I looked it up. I would be devastated if true.

Great tacos at Guisados Maria, in Bushwick Brooklyn.

I had a carnitas and the weekend only barbacoa. The carnitas was exceptional and barbacoa really good too. Would go back and try more stuff. Kind of crazy when people knock nyc mexican food sometimes.

Sometimes it really is the least scary thing on the spectrum.

My therapist told me that we tend to think of the worst possible outcome of things. For example one thing could lead you to jump to the conclusion that you have the worst possible outcome. But in reality, you could just be dehydrated or a little tired. Thinking of the least scary thing has been a good reflex.

For me I was having scary GI symptoms ramping up over a few years-- I naturally went to the scariest conclusions. I went down a lot of googling and even some nerve racking tests. I thought it about it everyday and I went out and made insane changes based on the positive results. At the end of the day, I found out that I was just lactose intolerance because i'm old. It was just ice cream! That was actually probably the least scary outcome I could have thought of, and I wish my brain went to the least end of the spectrum first. So I recommend-- think about the least scary thing. It's guaranteed going to be more likely than the opposite.

Upper Abdominal Pain

Hi,

I am new to jogging, and so far into it, in theory! I have been jogging about 2 miles over 30 minutes, with alternating walk/running. I have been doing this every other day.

I have two questions:

  1. How do I breathe properly? While compared to week 1 i'm not completely out of breath, I am struggling to breathe properly I think. I feel like I am expanding and contracting a ton. I am trying to belly breathe.

  2. I am getting pretty bad upper abdominal pain. It almost feels like I have a gas pain, but not really. Its like above the navel, like maybe a little lower/bottom of rib cage.

It lasts after the run about a whole day. Is this normal?? It is not on the side, and not a side stitch like I would get in highschool PE class or something.

I may be hunching slightly because I am running on a urban sidewalk and it is treacherous/looking down. That is my only theory. That and I am going too fast like most beginning runners.

I am definitely posting on reddit instead of going to a doctor, (Its America after all!). But is this because of running or do I need to go to a doctor?!

Thank you!!

Boat Stuff?

Hope you read that right. Weather is warm— what fun stuff can you do on the water? Obviously know about staten island ferry and water taxis. And some of those tourist cruises. But any fun gems??
