Can’t sleep alone in a room — any solution?

I am 27M IT professional staying in PG, and have this weird problem. I can’t sleep peacefully when I am alone in a room at night. If someone else is around, i can sleep normally, but when I am alone, I feel uncomfortable sleep breaks 100 times and needs to keep the lights on.

The problem is that sleeping with the lights on is affecting my sleep quality.

Has anyone else experienced this? If so, how did you overcome it? Any practical tips or solutions would be appreciated.

Am I the only one who gets irritated when people smoke right beside me at chai shops?

I'm a guy and till today I never smoked or drank alcohol. Not because of any health issue, it's just my personal choice.

But one thing I really can't tolerate is cigarette smoke. Every morning I need one cup of tea after waking up. So I go to a nearby chai shop.

Most of the time I'm peacefully enjoying my tea, then suddenly someone comes and stands or sits right beside me, lights a cigarette and starts smoking. They don't even bother if all the smoke is coming directly to my face.

One incident I still remember. I was standing alone at the tea stall where they have that small stand to keep tea cups. There was enough space around. A girl came with her tea, looked at me 2–3 times, then stood nearby and started smoking. My morning mood was gone in seconds.

Luckily I can drink tea very fast even if it's very hot, so I just finish it and leave the place.

Do you guys also face this?

Odisha is different in rainy season

I'm from the southern part of Odisha. I especially enjoy the rainy and winter seasons here. After moving out of the state for work, I realized how beautiful this region is. During the rainy and winter seasons, the greenery and roads often remind me of Kerala.though I never visited Kerala only seen on YouTube and Instagram.

Am I the only one who feels this way, or do you guys think the same? just sharing how I genuinely feel.

Weird dreams only when I sleep alone in my PG room. Am I overthinking?

I'm 27M. Earlier I used to stay in a men's PG, but around 4–5 months ago I shifted to a co-living PG near Kondapur because it looked much better. The cleanliness, maintenance, and overall environment were good, so I decided to move.

Initially I was a bit nervous about who my roommate would be, but luckily I got a really chill guy. We both adjusted well, so there were never any issues.

The PG is decent. Food is okay-ish, nothing great. People mostly mind their own business, so it's generally peaceful.

The strange thing started when my roommate used to go to his hometown for 3–4 days. Whenever I slept alone, I would dream about random kids. They looked like they were around 5th or 6th standard. Boys and girls, just happily playing, smiling, talking, as if they had come to meet me.

The dreams were never scary. That's the weird part. I would wake up for a few seconds, look around the room, realize it was just a dream, and go back to sleep. I never thought much about it.

Recently, my roommate got a WFH job and vacated the room. I also went to my hometown for almost 3 weeks. During those 3 weeks, I never had a single dream like this. In fact, I've never had these kinds of dreams in my hometown. I had completely forgotten about all of this.

Yesterday was my first night back in the room. I wasn't even thinking about those dreams anymore. But again, I had one. This time, there was a small kid playing inside my room. He was calling other kids who were standing outside the room to come in. It felt so real that when I woke up, I genuinely looked around the room for a few seconds.

I'm not saying I believe in ghosts or anything. I just find it strange that this only happens when I'm sleeping alone in this room. If I'm sharing the room with someone, I never get these dreams. It also never happens when I'm at my hometown.

Has anyone experienced something similar, or is my brain just playing games with me?

Budget-Friendly Local Food Recommendations in Vizag During My 2-Hour Stop?

Hi everyone,

I'll be traveling around 200 km to Vizag and have about 2 hours before my train to Hyderabad.

Instead of waiting at the train station, I'd like to explore a good local food spot. I'd prefer medium-budget places or even local food shops if the food is really worth it.

What are your go-to recommendations? Hidden gems and local favorites are more than welcome!

Thanks in advance!

Edit: I'll be in Vizag from around 06:00 PM to 08:00 PM before catching my train to Hyderabad.

Please suggest areas where I can find such rooms at a reasonable price.

Went to my hometown to buy my dream bike with an OD registration. Came back disappointed.

A small background about me.

I was born and brought up in the beautiful southern part of Odisha. The more I travel to different places in Odisha, the more I fall in love with my state. After graduation, I had to leave Odisha to search for a job and finally landed in Chennai. After a lot of struggle, I got my first IT job. I focused completely on my career, switched companies, and slowly my salary improved.

Even today, whenever I see a reel or video related to Odisha, I become emotional. I miss home a lot. Sometimes I miss it so much that I simply book a bus, come to my hometown, spend a few days with my family, enjoy the food and places, and then go back to Chennai.

Buying a bike was my dream since my college days. At that time, I didn't have money, so I promised myself that my first bike would be bought from my hometown. I always wanted an OD number plate. I liked the idea of riding an Odisha-registered bike in Chennai. Also, Odisha road tax is usually around ₹10,000 less than many southern states, so it made even more sense.

So this time, I booked my bus and came home. The very next day, my dad and I went to the showroom, excited to book my dream bike.

But the quotation shocked me.

The on-road price was much higher than what people were paying in Bangalore and even Chennai. I had already checked Reddit, and many people were saying the Odisha price looked too high.

I politely asked for a detailed price breakup. While checking it, I noticed the showroom was adding GST separately on the ex-showroom price. As far as I know, GST is already included in the ex-showroom price. The insurance cost also looked very high.

Since I work in IT, I started asking questions one by one. Instead of explaining properly, the salesperson became irritated and said, "Get a price breakup from another showroom. If it's lower, I'll match it."

That one sentence really disappointed me.

It made me think about how many people might have paid these prices without asking any questions.

Now I'm returning to Chennai with a heavy heart and will most probably buy my bike there.

It was never just about saving money. It was about buying my first bike from the place where I was born and raised, with an OD number plate. That dream will probably remain just a dream.

can talk to anyone... except girls I actually like.

I spent most of my life as an introvert. I studied in a boys' school, so I barely had any interaction with girls growing up.

When I finally got the chance in 12th and later in B.Tech, I always thought I was just an average student. My mindset was, "Instead of chasing girls, if I put all my effort into studies, maybe I'll build a good career." So that's what I did.

The funny thing is, whenever I did get a chance to talk to a girl, it felt... different. It genuinely made my day. But those opportunities were rare.

Fast forward to now—I have a decent IT job in hyderabad and earn decent, but I feel like I completely missed out on learning how to talk to women naturally.

Recently, during a bus journey, I met a girl. I liked her vibe, her smile, and somehow gathered the courage to start a conversation.

She was really friendly and responded positively. We talked for a couple of minutes, but after 2–3 exchanges, my brain just froze. She kept asking me questions, and I answered them, but I couldn't think of anything to ask back. I got nervous, and eventually she got busy with her work.

The worst part? Five minutes later, my brain suddenly came up with 20 things I could've said. 😭 I kept replaying the conversation and regretting it.

Does this happen to anyone else? How did you get better at talking to women without overthinking or trying too hard to impress them?

Question for the girls here 😄

When a guy gets nervous, answers your questions, but forgets to ask anything back, do you assume he's not interested, or can you tell he's just shy?

Also... what's one simple question you'd love a shy guy to ask to keep the conversation going? 😅

Am I unlucky or are bike taxi rides really this risky?

I usually go to the office by bike taxi. I start early, so even if the rider goes slow by, I can easily reach on time. But many riders seem to be in a hurry all the time. Some ride at 60+ kmph, some are talking continuously on calls, and some even use their phones while riding.

Day before yesterday, my bike taxi rider was riding with one hand in activa and operating his mobile with the other. He had wired earphones plugged in and was busy changing songs while riding. I told him, "Bhai, please don't use mobile while riding." He just nodded and continued.

A few minutes later, a scooter suddenly took a U-turn right in front of us. The rider reacted very late because one hand was busy with the phone. Somehow we stopped just inches away from hitting the scooter. My heart rate probably went from 70 to 170 in one second.

After that, I thought enough is enough. Bike taxis are convenient but not worth the risk. So yesterday I booked an auto thinking it would be much safer.

But even that didn't go as planned.

The auto driver was busy talking and suddenly applied hard brakes because something came in front. My knees hit the wooden partition/seat inside the auto. Luckily it was just a little pain and nothing serious.

Now I'm seriously thinking of buying my own vehicle. At least if something goes wrong, I know who to blame.

How do you guys manage daily commuting? Am I just getting unlucky or is this normal nowadays?

Also one thing I've noticed — whenever I see girls on bike taxis, they look completely relaxed, watching reels, web series or chatting on their phones 😂.

Need a Motivation Partner While Learning GenAI

I'm starting to learn GenAI seriously over the next couple of days.

Just curious — if there's any girl here who's also into tech, AI, self-improvement, or learning something new, would you be interested in being a motivation partner? 😅

Nothing complicated — just checking in occasionally, sharing progress, and making sure neither of us gives up halfway.

Who knows, we might learn something useful, make a new friend, and actually stay productive for once. 😄

If not, no worries. I'll still continue learning. Just thought it would be more fun with some company.

I refuse to believe there are actual women in this sub at this point 😭

One thing I observed in this sub very clearly that…

F4M posts be like: “hey :)”

And boom — comments, DMs, attention, full VIP treatment. Inbox moving faster than IRCTC tatkal booking.

Meanwhile M4F posts: full effort intro, good humour, music taste, hobbies, decent personality… still getting ignored like “Terms and Conditions apply” section.

Some M4F posts genuinely feel like: “Thank you for your interest, we’ll get back to you shortly.”

At this point M4F posts here have lower success rate than getting confirmed tatkal ticket during festival season.

Not even complaining honestly, just sitting quietly and observing everything like those uncles in tea stalls who know the entire colony gossip.

27M | Giving Reddit a try because dating apps feel like customer care these days | M4F

I’m basically someone who talks a lot once I get comfortable. Can literally go from deep life talks to sending the dumbest reels in 2 minutes. Into random chai/café plans, music, movies, late night conversations and people who have good humor naturally.

Outside I act sorted but internally it’s just overthinking, sarcasm and “chal dekhte hai kya hota hai” mentality.

I get attached to people with good energy very fast honestly. Not in a creepy way, just nice having someone you genuinely look forward to talking to every day.

Life’s been a little lonely and repetitive lately, so here I am trying something different instead of pretending “I’m fine” and scrolling reels all night.

Not putting full details here because privacy bhi important hai thodi. But yes, decent looking, working, mentally stable on most days and funny enough to survive awkward situations.

Would be nice to meet someone mature, understanding and easy to talk to. Someone where conversations don’t feel forced and both people actually put effort.

If this sounded even slightly relatable, DMs are open :)

M4F | Looking for a biryani partner 🍗

27M, developer — surviving weekdays with code and spending weekends hunting for good food 😄

Not into drinking or smoking, biryani is basically my only addiction.

Would be nice to meet someone who enjoys food outings, random conversations, long drives, and exploring places together. I usually end up trying biryani places solo, and honestly good biryani deserves company.

Maybe we become biryani review partners, maybe more if we vibe 👀
