Happy or nervous or just a lab thing?

Only had my new lab for a month today but she’s been consistent with this - when she’s in her spot and I call her name, before she comes to me, she gives me that squinty eyed look. Is it true what the internet says that it’s affection or is it really more nervousness still?

So maybe I just wanted to share her pic too. Haha

The More I read…

The more I read I feel like my symptoms line up with ADHD. I’ve thought it was anxiety, stress or I was just an a$$hole. I’ve tried SSRIs and had mild success with that but current one isn’t working great. I guess I don’t know what the next steps would be. Would I talk to my PCP? Could he evaluate and prescribe me anything?

Thinking of adding Health/ACA

We get calls at least weekly about health insurance and it is pretty much the one thing we don’t do. My dad did it years ago and he just did not like the headache of it - people would come back to him with bills when it didn’t pay the way they thought it was supposed to, etc. I keep toying with the idea of adding it because I hate turning down business but is it really worth it?

FWIW - I worked in a previous role at a hospital signing people up under ACA plans so I’m familiar with that side of things and of course I’m licensed in life and health but I know there are trainings you have to do through CMS as well.

Best Pilot

What show do you think had the best pilot, got you hooked instant? Generally, I don’t think the pilots are that great and it takes a few shows before I think they hit their stride.

I started rewatching Superstore today and I believe it has the best opening episode of any (recent memory) show I’ve watched.

Outrageous Stories/Questions

I’m sure there’s been plenty of these but I had to share this question I got today.

Guy tells me his truck got repossessed but he had chained it to the porch of his mobile home because he didn’t want them to take it yet - “I wanted to talk to them first”. In the process of them taking the truck they also ripped off half his porch and he wants to know if his auto policy will cover the damages. 😳

Sir, I don’t even know where to begin to answer your question. “How bout, no”.

ETA: my statement of “I don’t know where to begin” - is not in regards of know how this should/could be covered. I was being facetious.

Progressive Site Down

Not just me right? It’s been 24 hours at least and I can’t get into the agent website for Progressive. It’s just odd to me that a company this size has problems this often with their website. I get they have more traffic, etc but it goes down more than any of the others I deal with.

UPDATE/ETA: Apparently it’s my dad’s log in. I can get in with mine but his we can not.

Carry on!

Nothing Seems to Help

I hope this is allowed here - my wife has lupus and I’m looking for support.

My wife has been diagnosed with lupus for at least 5 years now. She was lucky in that she did get a diagnosis quick. She’s been through a few medications and has come back around one she has had some success with but had gone off of it previously due to some side effects. Honestly, I struggle with the fact that nothing seems to help with her symptoms. I just want her better. Not for my sake or for her to be able to do anything for me - none of those types of reasons. It is simply I don’t want her dealing with the pain she feels, the tiredness, etc. I’m sure you all know. We talk to the doctor and it doesn’t seem to get us much. My wife feels this is just her new normal and just can’t bring myself to accept that I guess. Is this as good as it gets?

So many questions!

I need to LLC my dad’s insurance business. He’s operated as a sole proprietor for a long time - that’s a separate issue. I’ve talked to tax people, accountants, etc - they all encourage it. I’ve read, researched. I’ve talked to other people in various businesses and I don’t know how they do it. I promise I’m not trying to spark debate and I’m definitely not trying to do anything illegal.

I’ve had so many people tell me they don’t pay themselves a salary. I’ve questioned how they pay their bills - say everything is in the business name. How? Also, I know a lady that has a credit card that uses it for everything, trips, personal and just pays it off. I’ve read that’s not legal either. Am I just too by the book?

Want to start playing again

Used to play many years ago - want to get back into it. Not sure which one to get. These are the options I see on the EA website. I remember SC4 but don’t know what the difference is in that and just the one that says SC. The SC 2000 looks like the original. Thoughts?

Just brought her home!

Just brought this girl home yesterday. She’s still adjusting, learning us but we all love her already. She seems pretty uncertain but I see signs of her coming around. She’s around 6-7 years old, a retired duck/mama dog. She’s already more curious than my previous lab. Anyway - just wanted to share!

Finding New Home Insurance Carrier

I’m a relatively new P&C agent in MS, working with my dad’s agency. We are good on the auto side but I feel like we need one more home owner’s company to offer as an option. Where can I find a list or who appoints independent agents for MS? Does it have to go through an upline like life/health? Currently we work with more the “non-standard carriers” - we have Foremost and National Security. We’ve tried to get on with Progressive but don’t write enough for them I believe. Others?

New to the Business

I’m new to the business - my dad has had an agency for about 20+ years. Independent agent, just him. He’s very old school. In some regards I don’t know how he’s managed, but he always has. He doesn’t keep up with numbers and things like I want to. The commissions come in, he pays the bills, he’s good.

My question is what should I be tracking - written premium, earned, potential commission? I want to know what his book of business is as well. Is this determined by the written premium as well? Also we write P&C and life & health. Primarily house and car, med sups, life and a cancer policy here and there.

Any info is appreciated.

ACV Home Policies

Admittedly I’m new to P&C. I feel like I understand the difference in RCV and ACV except when it comes to a total loss. In the place I work, we deal with a different type of clientele - mostly looking to save money. So the ACV policy is the way to go for them. I’m just hesitant honestly to sell this to them in the event of total loss of their dwelling. Can someone explain how this ultimately works say if they have $150,000 on their dwelling coverage?
