Has anyone experienced long delays with ACKO motor insurance claims and delayed survey reports?

Has anyone experienced long delays with ACKO motor insurance claims and delayed survey reports?

I'm looking to understand whether my experience is unusual or if others have faced something similar.

My vehicle has been at the garage for more than 25 days following an accident.

During this period:

The survey report has still not been shared with me.

I have repeatedly requested the technical basis for accepted and rejected damage items.

Some of my written queries have remained unanswered despite multiple follow-ups and escalation through the insurer's grievance process.

The repair scope has been discussed before I have been able to review the survey findings.

I have also requested clarification on vehicle custody, an alternate vehicle during the delay, and responsibility for any additional damage while the vehicle remains at the garage.

I have now approached the Insurance Ombudsman for an independent review.

I'd like to hear from others:

How long did your ACKO claim take from survey to repair completion?

Were you provided with the survey report before or after repairs?

Did you receive written technical reasons if any damage was rejected?

If you escalated to IRDAI or the Insurance Ombudsman, how was your experience?

I'm looking for genuine experiences to understand whether this is an isolated case or something others have encountered.

Do any carriers give credit for foreign driving history or prior foreign insurance?

I'm doing personal research on how accessible financial products are for people who've recently moved to the US, and auto insurance keeps coming up as the hardest one - from what I've heard so far, clean driving history from abroad mostly doesn't count at rating.

Two things I'm trying to pin down from people who actually quote and write these policies:

A newcomer with 10 clean years abroad vs. the same driver with 10 US years, roughly how much more does the newcomer pay?

And once they build US history, how fast does the price come down, at the first renewal, or over several years?

Not looking for a quote. Appreciate any experience people can share.

for those who looked into it, what is final expense insurance really covering?

My dad keeps getting these mailers and asked me what final expense insurance actually covers versus regular life insurance. For anyone who looked into it or bought one, what does it really cover in practice and was it worth it??

Travel insurance for person who is not a resident of any country

I have been working in the UAE for 8 years. I am returning to live in the UK (UK citizen). But before I return home I am going to Mexico/USA.

As I am not a resident of the UK as I have not lived there for 8 years. And I am no longer a UAE resident, does anyone know insurance companies that will insure my Mexico/USA trip?

Compared car insurance quotes for the first time in years

Spent the last two weeks trying to figure this whole thing out and shopping around for a better rate.

My agent kept telling me that $750 for six months was the best deal available. (I was paying $660 before that) Maybe the commission was just better on that quote. 😂

I filled out a bunch of online quote forms. They'd show really attractive prices at first, but by the time I got to the actual checkout, the premium somehow jumped to $650–700.

A few days ago I tried yet another comparison service. Filled out my info, got a call back, and ended up getting coverage for $440 for six months.

Honestly, I think I'll be shopping around every six months from now on. Switching was totally worth it.

Umbrella policy

Where can you get an umbrella policy if I don't drive, so I only have homeowners insurance? The company I currently use would not provide an umbrella policy without adding auto, so I want to switch companies. Does anyone know a good company that will let me have an umbrella with just homeowners? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

Cyber insurance

As a new business owner about to launch a store selling sexual wellness for women, I’ve had trouble sourcing insurance but finally 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 have my public liability sorted.

I’m working out if I need cyber insurance as well. I thought I would need it, but it’s very hard to source for my industry and extremely expensive.

Do you have that cover for your business and does Shopify have some sort of protection for customers when purchasing on the platform or being on the CRM system?

Thank you 🙏

How does one shop and compare insurance companies?

It seems overwhelming. We have our car insurance as well as homeowners insurance through State Farm. I hear over and over again that they are one of, if not the worst companies to deal with.

Are there any websites I can visit and plug in what we have for coverage and then find other (and hopefully) better/cheaper options?

Progressive question

Hi all! I’ve had progressive for about 2.5 years. I pay 6 months at a time with them but will be switching soon because we’ve had snapshot in all 3 vehicles for the whole time and the amount still hasn’t gone down a penny since.

Anyways, I’ve filed one claim with them ever on a hit and run. I came outside yesterday morning and noticed a crack in my windshield. I have no clue when, how, or why. But, just now when I turned my air conditioner on it caused it to spider out. Anyone have any advice with filing this with progressive? They always want so many details but I don’t have that this time because I have no clue what happened. Thanks in advance!

Progressive, yay or nay?

Looking at progressive because they have the cheapest rates near me. Had AAA for 3 years but was paying so much more. My question is how is progressive with late payments on installments? Do they have a grace period or automatically cancel? Same thing when renewing , if I’m a day late for the renewal payment is it automatically cancelled? I’m located in Michigan!!

My internship is holding my completion certificate hostage unless I sell an insurance policy

I'm currently doing an internship with an insurance company, and I feel like I've been blindsided.

When I applied for this internship, there was absolutely no mention that selling an insurance policy was a requirement to receive the internship completion certificate. The application, onboarding, and initial discussions only talked about learning, training, and completing the assigned work.

Now, near the end of the internship, they're suddenly saying that I won't get my completion certificate unless I successfully sell an insurance policy.

The problem is, I'm an intern—not a salesperson. I joined to gain experience and fulfill my college internship requirements, not to pressure my friends and family into buying insurance just so I can get a piece of paper proving I completed the internship.

So I decided to post on reddit to find someone who is interested in purchasing any LIC insurance policy.

Please help me out, I only have one week left. 😭😭

Question about company

I’m studying to get my license to sell life and health insurance in North Carolina and I’ve been applying on Indeed to work with insurance companies, on a part-time basis. I recently passed an initial interview with Globe Life-American Income Division and they want to get me onboard. They’ve already sent me the application and before taking any next steps, I’m doing a bit of research. Can I have more information about this company from someone who has worked with them and/or a customer who has purchased insurance through them? Thank you.

Nobody Warns Contractors About How Toxic Some Home Warranty Customers Can Be

I’ve worked with home warranty companies for years, and honestly, one of the worst parts isn’t the low pay or the warranty company itself—it’s some of the customers.

Before anyone gets offended, this isn’t about everyone. We’ve had plenty of wonderful homeowners. But the bad ones are so unbelievably bad that they make you question why you’re doing this job at all.

We walk into homes trying to help people, and from the moment we arrive we’re getting yelled at because their warranty company denied coverage, approved only part of the repair, or won’t replace an entire system because one component failed. Somehow that’s supposed to be the contractor’s fault.

We’ve had customers approve non-covered repairs, sign the paperwork, watch the work get completed, and then refuse to pay. Then we’re forced to spend our own time taking them to small claims court just to collect money they already agreed to pay.

We’ve been threatened with lawsuits more times than I can count. Some customers literally believe that if they don’t get exactly what they want, they can just threaten legal action and the contractor will magically do free work.

The amount of entitlement is unreal. People demanding extra repairs for free. Demanding upgrades for free. Demanding work that isn’t covered. Demanding we violate code requirements because it’s cheaper. Demanding we stay for hours beyond the authorized scope because “I’m the customer.”

The best part is when they tell you how to do your job. You’ve spent years in the trade, have licenses, insurance, experience, and training, but somehow the homeowner who watched three YouTube videos last night is now the expert.

And when the warranty company denies something? Guess who gets the one-star Google review. Not the warranty company. The contractor.

Many homeowners seem to think contractors are getting rich on warranty calls. The reality is that most warranty contractors are already working for reduced rates, dealing with mountains of paperwork, angry customers, denied claims, and constant threats.

The truth is that some of the most difficult customers we’ve ever encountered have been home warranty customers. Not because their plumbing, HVAC, or electrical problems are complicated—but because they believe every problem in their house should be fixed for free and anyone who says otherwise is trying to scam them.

American Home Shield

American Home Shield sells its product as number one home warranty service and on very first page, it says everything is covered. Nowhere it says prominently that you need to provide fitness of appliance certificate. We had purchased AHS couple of months ago and 10 days ago, water pipe to Jenn Air refrigerator started leaking. We had first dispatch from ****** Services and technician diagnosed as water pipe in bottom of this built in refrigerator to be leaking. He said it would need replacement; he would  order parts and fix it once AHS approved it. AHS denied claim saying it was preexisting leak. When I called AHS and spoke with person, he said if my claim was to be approved, I would need to provide “Fitness of Appliance Certificate” from  before. Have you ever heard of this B_S.? I wanted to cancel plan as I feel cheated,  they offered me second opinion. This time  guy from We___it  came and diagnosed problem as  water pipe in door being damaged. Still denied. This time claim was again, it was there before warranty started. Guys, buying home warranty is like buying health or other insurance. Like for life insurance, when they offer policy, they require  medical exam. If AHS wants to have fitness certificate, they should ask before issuing policy. Not  after taking premium for months. That is called ACTING IN BAD FAITH.

About to apply to work at an insurance company and worried about my history

Not sure if this is the right sub, will move if mods say so. So, I’ve recently been looking into starting insurance. My friend works for a “captive” and she says it’s not hard, it’s more sales focused and she’s working on becoming her own “agent”.

Ive been in sales before and I did pretty good. so, I’ve been doing a bit of research, and im sure this is right up my alley, however over the past few years I haven’t been responsible. I recently got evicted, have a repo and have quite a few collections on my credit. (I’m working on clearing my debt)

I’ve read that i would most likely have to do a background check to start at an agency, but would these things affect my chances? I have no criminal records, I’ve paid all my traffic violations. Just, bad credit due to bad choices.

Do I stand a chance at being hired? Or is there anything I can do, to make myself more desirable before I start applying?

Sorry if this is a stupid question.
