Best concise, single-volume books for JEE Mains ONLY (Physics & Chemistry)? Self-studying dropper with 4 months left

Hey guys,This is my first and final drop year, and I am completely self-studying with exactly 4 months to lock down my concepts

For Mathematics, I am already managing well by solving Cengage (Mains edition). However, I need serious help finding the right resources for Physics and Chemistry.I am solely targeting JEE Mains (not Advanced)

I want to avoid massive multi-volume sets for Physics and Chemistry.I am looking for a single book for Physics and a single book for Chemistry that meet these strict criteria:

Direct Explanation: Zero fluff, Straight to the point theory, formulas, and core concept clearing

Not Bulky: Must be a single book per subject, ideally under 1000 pages so I can realistically finish it in 4 months

Mains Focused: Doesn't waste time on overly complex Advanced-level derivations or proofs

Since I am self-studying, the explanations need to be crystal clear. What single-volume resource actually works for concept clearing under this tight timeline? Should I just stick strictly to NCERT + PYQs, or is there a specific concise textbook you recommend?

Thanks in advance!

Feng Shen Ji and Journey to the West (Xi Xing Ji) are the undisputed GODS of Manhua, Change my mind

Most modern manhuas are filled with recycled system tropes, identical copy-paste cultivation realms, and rushed AI-looking art. Then you look at Feng Shen Ji and Journey to the West (Xi Xing Ji) by Zheng Jianhe and Deng Zhihui.

The Art: Full-color, traditional Hong Kong comic style. Every single panel looks like a physical painting. The impact of the fight scenes is unmatched

The Plot: True rebellion against ruthless gods. The stakes feel real, characters actually die, and the power progression makes sense

The Cast: Ah Gou has one of the best anti-hero growths ever, and Tian (Black Dragon) is arguably the greatest antagonist in comic history without needing cheap plot armor

If you haven't read these two, you haven't experienced peak manhua. They sit on an entirely different tier. What are your thoughts?

Gun was never born a monster

People focus on Gun being cool, strong, and emotionless, but his childhood tells a different story The elders of the Yamazaki family basically destroyed whatever innocence he had left

As a child, he literally questioned why other families looked normal while his life was only about strength and rules.

He didn’t even understand why he had to keep becoming stronger just because of his name.

The scene where he says he wants to play Kendo and gets slapped by his mother hurts because it shows he still had normal childhood desires.

Haruto’s death and the Yamazaki elders slowly destroyed that innocent side of him.

Do you think Gun could’ve been different outside the Yamazaki family? And Was Haruto’s death the turning point for Gun?

Gun Is Everything Shingen Could’ve Been

Prison Gun will surpass Shingen

The difference between them is simplee

Shingen never had the same desire to improve because nobody could truly push him. He was a monster from the start. But Gun is built different — every fight, every near-death experience only makes him evolve even further and gun never try to dodge he just take attacks even goo said "The gun avoided someone's attack?, got it you are definitely not gun"

And now with the prison arc? That’s the worst possible thing that could happen for everyone else

Shingen didn’t create a monster he created a calamity

Gun has the mindset,, adaptability, and insanity to go beyond what Shingen ever was. He doesn’t stop growing, and that’s what makes him terrifying

Prison gun would probably stronger than Shingen or illegitimate son of gap

Small theory on how Gapryong might defeat Shingen after the latest chapter

After the latest chapter, I personally don’t think Gapryong Kim will defeat Shingen completely alone in a pure 1v1 from the beginning.

The whole scene with Kim reporter trying to convince Jinyoung Park to unite top tiers against Shingen and the Yamazaki forces makes me feel like PTJ is portraying Shingen as a monster that needed an entire generation to stop.

My guess are

Jinyoung, Elite, Tom Lee and other Gen 0 fighters weaken Shingen first

Shingen still ends up overwhelming most of them

Then Gapryong becomes the deciding factor near the end through his mentality/conviction rather than just raw power

I feel like that would match Gapryong’s portrayal better. He never seemed like just “the strongest guy,” but more like the person who could unite people and overcome impossible situations.

Could be completely wrong of course, but that’s the vibe I got from the chapter. Curious what everyone else thinks.

[Plaza war]Just finished Plaza Wars… felt like John Wick in webtoon form at times

Just finished Plaza Wars and honestly I enjoyed it way more than I expected. The whole series had this cold, tense atmosphere that really reminded me of John Wick sometimes. Not just because of the action, but the way the MC keeps moving forward through all the violence with that calm determination.

The fights were brutal, the pacing stayed good, and I’m really glad the story actually knew when to end instead of dragging things out forever. The ending felt complete, which is pretty rare for action manhwa/webtoons.

Definitely worth reading if you like gritty revenge/action stories.

Shark next arc is going to be absolute peak 🔥

I don’t know about you guys, but the next arc of Shark is shaping up to be insane.

We’ve been waiting for this confrontation for so long — Cha Woosol finally facing his mentor, Jong Dohon. The emotional weight alone is crazy, but the setup makes it even better. This isn’t just a fight… it’s a clash of philosophy, growth, and everything Woosol has learned so far

What makes it even more hype is how Woosol has evolved. He’s not the same guy anymore who just survived fights — now he actually understands what he’s doing. But Jong Dohon? That guy trained him. He knows every weakness, every habit, every instinct Woosol has.

So the real question is:

Is Woosol ready to surpass the person who shaped him?

Got PERMA banned for saying Kitae > James 💀

My terrorist-level comment: ‘Kitae >> James. Accept or cry forever.’ Mods reacted like I leaked military documents 😭

and I think powerscaling is illegal now

Jichang Kwak is one of PTJ’s best-written characters

I genuinely think Jichang is one of PTJ’s best written characters and people don’t talk about it enough.

At first he just looked like another strong king, but the more we saw of him the more tragic his character became.

What makes Jichang interesting isn’t just strength. It’s pride.

He was introduced as someone who already lost everything once. You can tell he’s constantly trying to hold onto the image of being a “king” even after getting crushed by Gitae. That’s why his confidence feels so forced sometimes. He talks calmly, acts composed, but deep down he already knows the era of the First Gen is ending.

The thing I like most is that PTJ didn’t make him evil or pathetic. Jichang still had standards, intelligence, and presence. Even characters around him acknowledged him. That’s what makes his downfall hit harder.

And honestly, his fight against Charles made me respect him even more. Even when he realized he was outplayed, he still stood his ground instead of begging or running away.

A lot of characters in Lookism are monsters physically, but Jichang felt human.

He wasn’t the strongest king.

He was probably the most broken one mentally.

That’s why his character stuck with me more than a lot of the top tiers.
