Pronunciation evaluation (Warning: AI is singing this because I can't sing)

I have a writing project (novel) and I have created spells for the story (dark urban fantasy). I was in a writing slump and played around with music generators, to hear how the spells would sound when if turned into a song to get private mood music/inspiration for the project.

Of course I am not a good evaluator of well it pronounces the Icelandic parts. (I am Finnish, so creating the spells in Icelandic/old norse and English, to fit the galdralag was.. a challenge on its own though).

I would appreciate if someone could evaluate how bad/good the accent/pronunciation is. I am purist like that.

I get many people are against creating music with AI, but this is (for me at least) purely testing a concept, themes and moods.

Representations of plurality/DID etc in media

I will post here (I was attacked in other subs for even asking but this seemed more sensible sub)

I am writing a dark urban fantasy novel trilogy (prob not going to publish, but who knows?) and during the writing one of my characters has turned out clearly plural person, now that I look at their scenes in retrospect. Maybe because I am recovering from a relationship with one who was undiagnosed and it was... hard, to put it mildly. But yeah. I will keep writing them as such, because that's what I went through. No diagnoses on page etc. People who know about it or have it, will recognize the pattern though.

As I write further I'd like to avoid villanizing the whole group, get it right and multifaceted. So, I humbly ask you, what kind of representation of plurality/DID/OSDD etc in fiction you hate/like? What would you like to see/made clear in a character, villain or not?

OSDD/DID in fiction, advice needed?

Hello everyone

I am currently writing a novel and I noticed that my protagonist and more clearly, my villain, has clear traits of OSDD-b1 especially co-conciousness and plurality, and more general dissociation. Since I am writing a dark urban fantasy, the mechanism behind their plurality is, in it's core, supernatural, but the villain has the more mundane version of it too (switches, different parts fronting, blending etc)

I have mapped out all his parts (six in total; the core personality, three different kind of protectors, the supernatural entity, and the kid) and their motivations, and the reason behind his plurality too. It will all be revealed gradually during the story. Only one his parts is totally good/innocent part and that's the Kid (figures) and only one is "bad" but even that is not bad part per se, more like totally avoid of human emotions and above moral principles (and that's the part my protagonist has too, and that's the supernatural aspect and while engine of the story).

Villain: In his core, his motivation is that he wants his family (fueled by the kid) and other parts do their best to give him that, protect him and balance that need with the supernatural entity.

He is not a villain all the time, all his parts have different sides, triggers and motivations that are sympathetic, and he has a redemption arc, but he will die in the course of the series ( I am planning a trilogy) by his own choice (protector part self sacrifices the whole system to save his family).

Protagonist has the supernatural entity part and will absorb/develope new parts during the series, but she is more functional and balanced because she had preparation and help to deal with it, the villain did not (and that is what causes the fracture). Two sides of the same coin. She has also levels of dissociation, described as part of the magic system and survival methods.

Plot-wise, the villains death would happen without his plurality, but I think, now that I see what I wrote (not a conscious choice; my characters write themselves mostly...) I think this plurality of his makes him more complex, more sympathetic, home human and and less caricature villainous.

Diagnoses are never mentioned on page and all is shrouded and weaved into the supernatural causality.

To avoid any cliche representation and to show respect to people who do have the condition I'd like to hear from you folks; what would you hate to see in fiction what it comes to OSDD-b1 (especially plurality), dissociation and other experiences about the condition.

I myself have moderate amount of experiences with people who show parts differentiation, fronting, switching and blending in their behaviour (I don't know are they diagnosed or not), quite a lot of information about trauma, dissociation and parts/mode work. I also have some deep intimate testimonies about the condition from people who have been diagnosed, whom I have met through my work (I work in healthcare)

Any opinions and advice would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know will I ever be published but I'd rather do adjustments now, as I write the story forward, than later when the manuscript is done.

Thank you in advance

Thank god I am blocked

I just slipped and tried to call him. Breakup was turbulent, impulsive, but still long coming. We broke up in early March first, and got back together in May, agreed to go slow. But he started to act really disrespectful 3 weeks ago, worse than before, nothing I have ever witnessed in him during our almost 2 years together and many years we knew as a casual friends before that. I think he is in deactivation, he is very obvious fearful avoidant. Then he stonewalled me during my need for support during health scare and broken car, and proceeded to block me on all platforms mid-argument as a control/power move, when I raised the issue. I am impatient and pushy, lean to anxious, which does not help, but goddamn I don't deserve this, I deserve better.

Blocking is a hard boundary to me, he knew it, I saw red and returned all his stuff behind his door with a smashed painting he painted to me in the early relationship, with a petty break up note. Then I rang the doorbell and left. Damn it felt good to smash that painting, I was so mad. Not one of my best and adult moments. I never used to get that angry, and I never lose control. I rarely shout or raise my voice. Never have I smashed or broken things on purpose before this. But afterwards, such a relief. NO MORE, by body screams. My smartwatch shows way lower mean heart beat and higher HRV after that.

His deactivation makes him very mean, dismissive and also financially abusive ( I am well off and he is not, and he tried to guilt me because of it and hinted I should pay him. Like a gigolo? I dont know. I payed most stuff when we lived together, but I refuse to give cash to an adult man, living on his own apartment, having his job, just for being with me. If in trouble, sure I can help, but not as an paycheck for being my boyfriend).

If I bring up an issue he gets so defensive. He can't ever hear me. All he feels is "attack, I am attacked, I will be abandoned, must attack and abandon first!" (we discussed this during our calmer talks).

I refuse to be silent, I have tried different ways to communicate, they sometimes work, but more often not. Even simple request is received often as a demand, and occasionally angry meltdowns from bizarre things. We lived together for 8 months and I was a wreck in the end of that, could not sleep, depersonalization, not able to focus, forgot to pay my bills... Then I told him to move out ( I own the apartment). Things improved after that, suddenly he was more able to control himself, because he dissociated from his feelings big time. But I think he is still angry to me for that.

But in the end of the day, I don't want to hurt him. I love him, but I can't stand being with him. I hate the person I am slowly turning into.

I just want him to get that he hurts ME and just... stop doing it. He does get it, and that is why we broke up the first time, he realized he could not be the spouse I need. But with this retry, he thought things were different, we thought there was enough space this time.

But, he has Issues. I mean real issues. Trauma, dissociation. Sometimes he dissociates in front on my eyes, can't hear what I said, just reacts, freezes, loses his basic skills. He can't help it, I can't help it, and it's all is so fucking sad.

Today, 3 days after the breakup I wanted to check in and ask how he has been. I knew he had his psychiatrist appointment today. Last time we broke up, we stayed in contact, it was somewhat reeasonable, but of course I could not move on.

But this time, I think I will be the villain of the story, another crazy ex added to his list whom he can blame for all his troubles, and whom he never wants to forgive. Because I smashed that painting. And I knew deep down, that it would be so, that it would really burn the bridge. The only way for us to not try again. I am too forgiving, too understanding, and he is not, and I will be forever blocked now that I hurt him back.

Yes he is abusive, but no he is not a narcissist. He is traumatized and neurodivergent, and yes, very insecure and emotionally immature. I just can't take any hits anymore. I want safety, I want predictability and consistency, I want boredom, connection, communication, I want to be understood, I want to be treated as a partner, like a loved one, not as an enemy.

Love is not enough, love needs safety, trust and respect to cherish. We have none of those.

Ilpi on asennettu

Helteet saa tulla.
