He has a confederate flag sticker on his truck (girl lunch)

Lunch: Yukon gold potatoes, orange bell pepper and zucchini, an over easy egg, berries and a peach raspberry bubblr over ice

UPDATE: I said in the post "I can't get past this" and I mean that. Maybe that was missed by some folks. I'm not trying to condoning his racism. I am allowed to be sad that a person I'm physically attracted to is racist and therefore I won't date them. I'm not arguing with people in the comments because there obviously isn't anything to argue about. I'm on the same page.

I want to start this by saying I know this is a sensitive topic that people are passionate about. I would love if things could stay cordial.

I (29f) matched with this guy (29m) on hinge last week, we hit it off instantly over text, had a few phone calls before our date (a requirement for me) and I really felt a connection. We went mini golfing and when he showed up I noticed he had a window sticker on his car that was in the shape of Alabama and said "Bama grown" on it but the whole thing was a confederate flag pattern. I immediately was a bit bummed but I am really trying to give people a chance (more on this later). After mini golf we went thrifting and chatted for like 2 hours.

He walked me to my car and I rolled down my window to chat for a few before I left. I mentioned (in a light hearted tone) that I wouldn't be getting back in his truck with that sticker on it and we had a good conversation about it. He explained that he sees the flag as a sign of his southern heritage and that he doesn't display it with ill intent. I explained that perception matters just as much as intent and that the flag carries some pretty negative connotations.

A little background about me: I grew up in a conservative house, not religious conservative but 2nd ammendment, American flag on the porch conservative. I went to college, got my degree in women's studies, and have changed my views considerably. My family is not MAGA, but still conservative for the most part. No one in my family is homophonic, racist, sexist, anything like that, but they are strong believers in the 2nd ammendment and are proponents of less government. I hold different beliefs than my family on most hot button issues regarding politics. We are in the pnw so not exactly red country 😅

A little background on my views about dating: I have been in the dating scene for what feels like forever. I have had times in dating where I was really into the social media stuff of "if he wanted to he would" "if he doesn't pay, open the door, xyz cut him off immediately". I've left dates after 10 minutes because I didn't feel a connection or didn't think he was a good fit and I've cancelled dates before they happened because of yellow or red flags. I'm not saying this isn't a valid way to date by any means it just doesn't feel like it's working for me.

I am trying something new where I actually give people a fighting chance instead of cutting them off after 1 negative thing. I feel insane even saying this, because it's not revolutionary, I'm just retraining myself from years of cutting men off for not being perfect. I have gone on some really great dates lately with people who I would have cut off immediately in the past and am enjoying less rigidity in dating for me. All of this to say, that is why I didn't leave immediately upon seeing the flag.

The conversation about the flag was respectful, he listened to what I had to say and he said if we continued to see each other he would take it off his truck. However, even the fact he had it up just feels icky to me.

I'm feeling conflicted about the whole thing because I know that if I was dating how I was before I wouldn't have this dilemma because I already would have cut it off but I really felt a connection and he expressed he did too. The spark during our first kiss was actually electric but I'm not sure I can get past the flag. (I am sure I can't get past it I'm just bummed to lose the connection). I haven't felt a connection/attraction this good in a long time.

Maybe this is more just venting rather than wanting advice but if anyone has thoughts I'd like to hear them. Please don't be rude.

Thoughts on mentioning weight before a date?

I (29f) met a guy (29m) on hinge, and we’re planning to go out on Sunday. I am plus size and my profile has two or three full body pictures, so I know I’m not misrepresenting myself. He has mentioned a few times how being active is super important to him and that he values being active in dating. I am active and so I don't have a problem with that at all.

I have never felt the need to say "just checking, you know I'm fat right?" Before a date because my profile does show what I look like, and I'm not trying to hide it.

For some reason, maybe because he's mentioned activity level a few times, I'm feeling like I should say something just to make sure he doesn't feel like I am catfishing.

How are other plus size people approaching this? or if you're straight size how would you want someone to approach this?

Update: I didn't say anything, we had our date and it went alright. He made it super clear that he was attracted to me, and we have another date set up this week.

What kind of rug for these couches?

I'm struggling to decide on even what color to go for. I have an oak coffee table that mathes the couches that has a glass top as well.

Your sign to make the first move

From first message to date in about 6 hours. I'm not usually the one to make the first move but I did today and it turned out great! Ladies, this is your sign to make the move.

For a little context my bio is "can we tell people we met at the library? You might have to message me twice, I get distracted easily"

When in dating should you tell people you're divorced?

For context, I (29F) got divorced about three years ago. We were married for two years, and dated for 5. I know eventually I will have to tell the people I’m dating that I’m divorced, but I don’t know if it’s better to put it on my dating profile/mention it on the first date, or let it come organically after a couple of dates.

I think it’s a dealbreaker for some people so I wouldn’t want to unintentionally lead someone on. It also doesn’t really feel like an important part of my past, nor is it something I really care to talk about (not because it's traumatic but because it's kind of a boring topic). Whenever I do bring it up it usually comes with a lot of questions, which doesn't bother me but gets a little tedious.

When are we telling people we're divorced??

AITAH for not going to my childhood friend’s college graduation?

So, I (29F) have known Michelle (29F) since middle school. We were extremely close through most of High School but had a falling out at some point. I don’t remember what about, but it was enough for us to not talk for the last 10 years. She called me out of the blue last spring and was on facetime with a few of our other mutual friends and we rekindled. When we first started talking, I was hesitant because although I didn’t remember exactly why we fell out, I knew it was because of how she had treated me. I tried to keep my distance this time around and thought we could be friends without having to be glued to each other because we are both damn near 30.

In the last 10 years, I have moved states twice (I’m back in the state I grew up in, living a few hours from her), been married and divorced, started and maintained a successful career, and fell in love with my life. Michelle has stayed in our hometown, has been working on her BA, is on government assistance, and has a dream of moving to another state and marrying rich so she can become a SAHM. I only mention this because when we started talking again, it was clear to me that there was a bit or resentment on her end. I picked up on this through some back handed compliments, and other remarks about my lifestyle.

Our rekindling quickly turned into us being on facetime for 6-8 hours a day, sometimes more, even while I was working. I quickly felt like the progress I had built for myself was slipping away because I had no time to spend by myself working on my passions and hobbies. I should have said something but had some residual fear over how she’s treated me in the past and saw how she was handling issues in her other friendships. It was clear to me she would not take it well if I were to try and take a step back so I let it go on way longer than it should have.

We had a tiff in February (I can explain what happened if the context would be helpful) that I don’t feel like I have really recovered from, and the last time I went to see her was in March to help her after she had surgery. Following the trip in March our conversation fell off completely over the course of 2 weeks. She sent me an E-vite to her graduation and the party in mid-March, and I heart reacted but didn’t respond/rsvp to. There has been no communication since. She has however been making passive aggressive story posts on Instagram that I believe may be about me.

I feel like a bad person for not supporting her in getting her degree she has been working on for the last decade and I know if I don’t go that will be the end of our friendship, but she also hasn’t been treating me well and I don’t know if I even want to be her friend. This whole thing just feels so juvenile to me. Am I the asshole if I don’t go?

I (30F) been talking to this guy (40m) for about a week and a half now, three or four days on the app and the rest via text.

He hadn’t asked me on a date yet, so I made the move and asked him out. We planned a day but didn't set a spot or time. We've had pretty consistent conversation since planning but nothing about the date. He didn't reply to my last message and I haven't heard from him at all today or yesterday.

I don't really want to reach out to confirm since he's put in no effort to discuss the date further other than saying he'd like to go, but I also feel like I should since I'm the one who asked. I usually don't do the asking so I'm not sure what the etiquette is for following up/reminding.

I'm feeling like him not responding is my answer, and I'm too old to be playing the "should I text him" game. I never have these doubt, but I am really attracted him and it's clouding my judgement haha. Thoughts?

I have been tracking my macros very consistently for about 6 months and have lost 45 lbs and have another 100 to go. I live alone so it's really easy for me to track stuff and even when I go out to fast food I'm very aware of the macros to the extent I can be with what the menus provide. I just moved to a new city so I don't really go out to eat at restaurants, nor do I have friends here so I'm pretty on top of my stuff in terms of tracking.

I'm going out of town for a few weeks on a work trip and I know I won't be able to weigh really anything or eat anything homemade at all since I'll be at a hotel. How do you stay on top of your macros while traveling? I'm a little scared I'm going to undo some of my progress and want to avoid that as much as possible. Since this work trip is in a city I used to live in I'm also feeling like I want to go to all the restaurants I miss since my move.

I know it's possible to stay on track I'm just scared that things are going to go sideways. Any tips would be appreciated.

I saw this bee floating in the lake today while I was paddle boarding. I brought it on board and it dried off and seemed to be fine and walking around. Then the next thing I knew it was dead and it looked like it stung my board or something to maybe kill itself? There was no reason for it to sting anything, we we're chillin listening to music for like 20 minutes.

🔥 Hot ▲ 13.4k r/cats

I have a theory that my cat knows when it's the weekend or when I have a day off.

A bit of backstory: I have fed my cat at 5:30am every day since I got her. I used to have an auto feeder but a few months ago it broke so I've been feeding her manually. Everyday at 5:30am my cat starts yelling at me for breakfast. Sometimes I get up right away, and sometimes I make her starve until 6:15 but regardless of when I feed her she yells at me constantly until I do. She's so reliable and I am such a light sleeper, I don't even think to use an alarm.

I've noticed the last few weekends that I've been waking up at 7 or 7:30 with a sleeping cat curled up with me. The moment I show signs of life though she reminds me that she is on the verge of death from starvation. I've been thinking maybe somehow she just knows that every 5 days things are different and gives me a break which I already feel crazy about thinking but I cannot figure out how to explain it.

Friday was the start of a 5 day vacation for me and I woke up at 7 with a sleeping cat. I'm convinced at this point that she knows when I have a day off. I'm interested to see if she does this Monday too.

I thought maybe I do something around the house in the evenings, specifically on nights before I work that she's picking up on but I work from home so I'm not setting out clothes or doing anything really at all to prepare for the next day that I don't do every single day. I considered that maybe the traffic outside is what is tipping her off to what time it is because we live on a busy street with a train, and maybe there is less traffic on the weekends so she doesn't have the reminder of the time but Friday, traffic was the same as any other weekday.

Anyway, my cat knows the days of the week and apparently my schedule, here's a picture from our last roadtrip (yes she's buckled in)
