This and Go Easy contain his most beautiful & enthralling lead guitar melodies
Just moved into my new apartment today gentlemen
Not sure if it’s a rule to keep it posted so I’ll include it here
2oz Tanqueray No. 10
1oz Dolin Dry
Stirred until ice-cold garnished w/ three castelvetrano olives
Anyways yeah man just moved into my new/first apartment ever I’m quite exhausted could not think of a better way to unwind shit was lowkey a nightmare to deal with lol
I found out I was cheated on during the title sequence of No Time To Die
Title, I’m actually making this post because I’m rewatching the film right now as I type this and was just flooded with uhh memories during the title sequence and song
Roughly five years ago I was going through a bit of relationship drama and had hung out with my girlfriend at the time I think earlier/the same day my parents had bought tickets for the three of us to go watch the Daniel Craig franchise finale in theaters
I remember feeling mentally preoccupied with my situation and a bit uncomfortable at the time because I had been feeling pretty disconnected from her, she was essentially my first real girlfriend in high school and probably the most attractive girl I’ve ever been involved with but like I said I’d hung out with her earlier that day and knew that she was going to be out at a party that night which I was actually not invited to and at the same time that was going on I was going to be watching the movie with my parents
Anyways the first scene(s) of the film had caught my attention and were quite action-packed (I mean I’m re-watching it all right now) but anyways I had my phone on silent and in my pocket
I remember I ended up taking it out for whatever reason and saw a snapchat notification from someone I vaguely knew—another guy who apparently was invited to the same party she was at and he was all like “sorry bro, just wanted to let you know she’s been all over so and so and they split off to go hook up, just thought you should know”
And anyways yeah the title sequence with Billie Eilish singing No Time To Die kicked into full swing shortly after I read that, following Bond’s interaction with Madeleine when he put her on the train or whatever
This all just came flooding back to me on the rewatch just now and I’m pretty tipsy as I write this so I apologize, just wanted to say it truly made the illusion of Madeleine’s betrayal and Bond’s pain feel fucking palpable, you know heart racing, started feeling a bit nauseous, it took me straight back to that night which is crazy and I can only relate to how Bond probably felt that much more it made the scene feel a bit too real
I’m not sure if any of you care but anyways
I’m gonna go get another drink, fuck her
Also if anyone’s wondering, I dumped her right after I found out and she did admit to it and stuff but it wasn’t that serious of a relationship so I think I’ve encountered far worse heartbreaks in my life
Edit: I actually just realized her name was literally Maddie lol that’s crazy just like in the movie (idc I’ll name drop her she ain’t on Reddit who gives a fuck)
(Inexperienced) so I have quite a few martini questions
So first of all, I don’t know much and I’m not experienced so go easy on me lol
I’ve been making my own, I enjoy the ‘classic’ and dry taste a lot as I’m a huge gin guy for some reason it turned out it’s just my liquor of choice I think what I like is the dryness + flavor and the idea of botanicals especially poured straight up
However when it comes to martinis, I’ve been bouncing pretty religiously between tanqueray and sapphire (call me generic I know they’re just easy)—however I am really curious what everyone else’s preferences are not only for gin but for vermouth as well?
What kind of vermouth are y’all using? Right now I’m making them with dry grassotti (the blue label one) — I’m wondering what the common bar choices are?
Do you martini people prefer yours dirty? Do you like them extra dirty? If so why? (right now I don’t make them that way but I do enjoy the olives a lot as a garnish and to eat post-drink)
My biggest question is what ratio do you guys use? Right now I’m sticking with 5:1 as what I imagine is the modern standard but when I use sapphire it just tastes so fiery and is not as dry as I would like despite the ratio
Do y’all like vodka martinis? I’m not sure what makes them special other than I think they get me pretty sauced pretty fast and I don’t taste any gin flavor
Also is there anything else I should know?
Any recommendations?
Anything you more experienced people have learned over the years?
I’ve also been stirring mine FYI
What could be said
& no talm bout no delay or my signal chain ts is perfect
Advice/Is this worth it?
It’s my dream guitar, I have a player II now but I’ll unfortunately probably need to sell it to put it towards this if I can get the money together
I truly feel in my soul that this is the one but fuckkk the price man
I don’t consider myself advanced but I’m definitely on the upper end of intermediate—I think I really want to go for it with a 7.25” in general—the 9.5” has been comfortable for me but that with the modern neck profile means a lot less to me after playing a couple vintage Strats in person (I know this vintage II comes in C standard but I really don’t think I’ll mind I have decent sized hands & good dexterity but do mostly rhythm stuff so barring as much as I do long term without a thicker neck may not be ideal but unfortunately natural finish starts like this have apparently never been manufactured with deeper neck profiles or w/ specs matching pre-70s)
I’m also pretty mechanically inclined when it comes to these things, teching guitars has come easy to me if I need to put some work into it down the road/adjust to taste I’m more than capable
All that being said I want “Fender American”, I’m not looking for an MIM anymore, they’re great but I already have one and I think I just want a “partner for life” kind of thing like I want to truly and solely use a guitar for upwards of at least a decade or more
I’m wondering if this is worth it? I haven’t seen many listings that I’d trust considering most show one or two macro photos which feels a bit pathetic for those asking this kind of money ($1500+)
I really want to know if there’s a way around the price I mean if not sure I’d just want to know for an absolute certainty that what I’m considering is worth it
For some more context the exact specs I want/my non-negotiables are the natural finish (ash), 7.25”, American made (non MIJ/MIM/squier), rosewood 70’s but neck profile is flexible for me
If there is a solid used listing out there covering these specs even if it’s seen some heavy use I’d certainly consider it
Would really like some input from those more immersed/experienced than me
I’m a big fender guy I have a tele too and such but I really am at that point in my development where I think I have a reason to consider doing something like this
Any advice is welcome
