I once viewed a place that I really liked. The location was great, it had enough space and the rent was within my budget. The only thing that bothered me was how little sound insulation there seemed to be. At the time, I thought it was something I could easily live with because everything else about the apartment was so good.

But it got me thinking about how one relatively small issue can become much more frustrating when you have to deal with it every day. What’s one thing you might initially overlook but would eventually make you want to move out?

Voor mij staat GTA V waarschijnlijk wel hoog op de lijst. Tussen de story, rondrijden in de open wereld en veel te veel tijd besteden aan GTA Online, lopen de uren behoorlijk snel op.

Wat is het hoogste aantal uren dat jij ooit in één game hebt gestoken?

Niet de voor de hand liggende dingen zoals "aardig zijn" of "goed kunnen luisteren", maar juist iets kleins wat je tijdens een date opvalt. Misschien de manier waarop iemand over anderen praat, hoe iemand reageert als iets niet helemaal volgens plan gaat, of dat iemand oprecht nieuwsgierig naar je is en niet alleen wacht tot hij of zij zelf weer aan de beurt is om te praten.

Sommige eigenschappen vallen misschien pas op als je iemand wat beter leert kennen, terwijl je bij andere dingen al tijdens de eerste date denkt: met deze persoon zou ik graag nog een keer afspreken.

Wat is zo'n eigenschap of gedrag waardoor jij tijdens het daten meteen denkt: dit is een goede green flag?

Misschien iets wat veel vrouwen meemaken, maar waar ze toch weinig eerlijk over praten met vriendinnen, familie of collega's.

Dat kan over van alles gaan: werk, moederschap, mentale gezondheid, geld, relaties, ouder worden of iets heel anders. Over welk onderwerp zouden volgens jou veel openere gesprekken gevoerd mogen worden? En waarom denk je dat daar nog zo weinig over wordt gesproken?

I was looking over my monthly expenses recently and realised there's one thing I never even think about cutting back on. It's not something I actually need, but it makes enough of a difference to my day that I've never regretted spending the money on it.

It made me wonder if everyone has something similar. Is there one thing you'll happily pay a little extra for, even if there are cheaper alternatives? Has it always been that way, or is it something you've started appreciating more over time?

Waar let jij als eerste op voordat je een tweedehands product koopt waarvan je verwacht dat het jarenlang meegaat?

I expected reaching €100k invested to feel like a huge milestone, but I wonder if it actually felt like a turning point or just another milestone. Did it make FIRE feel more achievable, change how much you saved, or make you more relaxed about market fluctuations?

Ik heb altijd het gevoel dat de winter alweer voor de deur staat voordat ik het huis goed heb kunnen voorbereiden. Er zijn meestal een paar kleine klusjes waar ik pas op het laatste moment aan denk - de verwarming controleren, buiten alles even schoonmaken, kijken of er ergens tocht naar binnen komt, dat soort dingen.

Waar zorg jij meestal voor voordat de winter echt begint?

Sometimes you walk into an apartment and think the place is perfect, but then you spend ten minutes walking around the neighbourhood and change your mind.

Maybe the street was too noisy, the commute was terrible, or there simply wasn't enough around.

Have you ever had a place that looked great on paper but was a definite no once you saw the area?

I've lived with roommates for a while now and it's definitely been a mixed experience. Some days it's nice having people around, and other days you just want to come home and have the place to yourself. How has it been for you?

Het hoeft geen bekende toeristische attractie te zijn of iets wat je in elke reisgids tegenkomt. Misschien is het een lokaal evenement, een mooie fietstocht door het Nederlandse landschap, een typisch Nederlandse traditie of gewoon iets wat laat zien hoe het dagelijks leven hier is.

You can find a place with a good location and reasonable rent, but difficult neighbours can make you reconsider everything.

I've heard people say that friendly neighbours made an apartment feel like home, while others have had issues with noise, arguments, or just never feeling comfortable around the people living nearby.

Have you ever stayed somewhere mainly because you got along well with your neighbours, or seriously considered moving because of them? How much does the neighbourhood community matter to you when choosing a home?

Sometimes it's not the expensive things that make the biggest difference, but one purchase that ends up making everyday life noticeably easier.

Whether it was a kitchen appliance, bike accessory, laptop stand, noise-cancelling headphones, second-hand furniture, or something completely unexpected, what's one thing you bought that you think every student should consider?

I'd love to hear what it was, roughly how much it cost, and why it ended up being such a good investment. It might help new students decide what to prioritise when they're setting up their room or adjusting to student life.

Every country has traditions or everyday customs that become part of its identity, but over time some of them slowly fade away.

Whether it's something linked to holidays, birthdays, food, neighbourhood life, cycling, or another tradition, what's one Dutch custom you'd hate to see disappear?
