Petrified Wood
I could be wrong but I think it crystalized and somehow kept it's growth rings.

This might be a piece of root rather than a limb. There's a little twig branching out of the clear section that I think is interesting.
I assume this is a limb cast? Could the white be a layer of opal and the rest of it agate? Hardness between 7-8.
I think this pistol was made in the US or England in the 1800's. I'm wondering what bird species he tried to engrave on the stock? Could it be a passenger pigeon? The lock is stamped RS Clark and the barrel is stamped England.
I took my rear wheel off to change the tire and found the hub shaft is broken. I don't know how long I've been riding it like that. There was dirt mixed in with the ball bearings and I can see damage on the inside bearing surface. I found a new shaft online for $50 but I'm wondering if it will just break again because the hub is ruined?
I know these aren't great photos but I was wondering if there's a chance someone can identify them. I'm not ready to say where they are located yet. I saw them a few years ago and assumed they were from something like a horse. Now I'm wondering if they might be something special?
It's my first time at Blue Forest and I think I could be on a nice piece. There's about 4' of it exposed now and it's still going into the bank. I think I'm going to stop chasing it for a while and work on the algea layer. Is there a trick to removing it without breaking the wood?
The inside of this is a solid balck unless you get it wet and shine a strong light at just the right angle. It seems so soak up water fast. It's just cut and not polished yet. I'm not sure where it's from. Any idea what it is?
The only markings I see are the 8 oz on front, a faint circle on the bottom, and small bumps on the corners and top-middle.
Is there an explanation for the square side on this? I’m wondering if it’s half petrified wood and half agate that formed against the square edge of a rock?
I believe it came from New Mexico.
I bought this from a precous metals store. He said the stone was jade but I easily scratched it with a pick. An AI search said it's probably aged ivory. I think in that case I would need to prove it's over 100 years old if I wanted to sell it in the US.
I'm interested in cutting the bottom off this to see what the inside looks like. The hollow part is making me wonder if it will split?
I thought the light pink color is interesting. Would you cut this piece to make a cabazon or leave it like it is?
